Hi,They are drum majors from The Royal Army Of Oman Pipe Band who are appearing at the Edinburgh Military Tatoo.I took videos of a fantastic performance which they gave in Glasgow on Tuesday and I will Be uploading it when I get the chance.I will be busy filming all this week..Eric
Hi Charles,They are indeed very skillful and it makes a great spectacle. It is,however, quite a difficult competition to video as the drum majors are, neccessarily.well spread out and are not marching in formation.I will have to try filming a few more drum major competitions next year and try to improve on the technique.
It's not just his incredible discipline and precision, but the way he's so creative with the mace, carrying out various types of stick drill. Sure, towards the end he makes a pretty serious blunder, and drops it, but he quickly regains his air of discipline. They'd be crazy if he didn't win.
@@Fergus110 Very kind of you to say. T'was I in the trews. However, I was last on the day. Possibly because I was a foreign competitor, and that I was using Army drill as opposed to RSPBA drill. The drop was no surprise as to the ranking. Unfortunately, I did not receive comments as to my placement. As you see, there was a host of fantastic competitors on the day.
@@Fergus110 a little bit from everywhere, some myself by watching, some from tutors, but most of what I picked up was from the army. I gained my department, dill and marching from my time in an army pipe band. We were actually at the tattoo at this time.
