Hey! Something i started doing was doing the hi hats in every 4 steps on the step sequencer, selecting all in the piano roll, shift dragging out the four steps to copy them into a every 2 steps pattern, and now that youve got every other one selected, you can go to tools, randomize, and randomize the velocities. Just makes it so you dont have to select and modify each individual one

That’s a great tip bro! I need to use things like that more often but I get so picky and will literally set my velocities over and over again until I feel it’s perfect 😂

Great video man, definitely gonna try out messing with those plugins in the mixer... Hi hats are the toughest thing for me to get right lol

Thank you bro 🙌🏼 There’s a lot more you can do with hi hats to keep them interesting. You can use two different hats and create counter patterns with them, you can use automation, velocity control (as I showed in the video) and a lot more. If you struggle with making hi-hat patterns, set a time for 15min and create different patterns at different BPMs. Once time is up go back and edit the patterns until you get something you like. After that repeat that process. Eventually you’ll get better the more you practice and edit 💯
