Hub is one of the best drummers I have ever seen! His drum trio video is insane! If he was American I feel he would have gotten way more credit and would be a legend! I love this guy, easily one of my favorite drummers ever!
Huub was my drum teacher for 4 years, I learned a lot and it was always fun! Whenever he had a gig close to where I live he'd give me a call and I helped him set up his kit and met many great musicians he played with. Thank you for this reaction video!!
Huub Janssen, RIP. One of the greatest and funniest european "old school" big band drummers. Also see the video where he plays together with Pete York and Charlie Antolini.
You do great analyzes of the great percussionists, I would recommend you to do an analysis of Huub Ganssen and Antolini, P. Yor.- drum beatle / 1997 drummerworld /, one of the most impressive performances from the old jazz school. Greetings from Bulgaria.
Garey, I discovered this man sometime ago and was waiting for you to do an analysis and I'm happy you did. Love this man and his showmanship. Great analysis as always. Stay safe..
As a child me and my brother use to help him building up and building down his drum sets they were huge... and we would get some pocket change for it ;)
Wow. I learn something new every day. I never heard of this guy. I’m impressed watching this video. He’s a great showman for sure, but much more important is he can really really play. He’s got great stick control, great articulation, great dynamics, great speed, great rudiment articulation on par or even better then Bellson, speed almost on par with Rich a nice drum kit, good cymbals and he plays left handed classic grip. This was indeed a treat. A new old drummer to study. How did a guy this epic not get more well known?
He was and still is my idol. The best drummer there ever was, but not born in America, so he is not as famous as buddy rich, Louis bellson or max roach, just a shame that youtube became famous after his dead! R.I.P MEASTRO HUUB JANSSEN 🙏👏👏👏🙏
I saw him live many years ago. A true master. Something else about him. He had the best sounding drums I'd ever heard in a concert setting. He was using Sonor I think. Not sure. But he could do it all!!
There are many Great European Drummer's & this Guy was one of the Greatest beside C.Antolini .... i love the "Oldschool" Jazzstyle ,Drum's sounding "Alive & Soulfull" ... not any "Dead Modern Soulless Perfection" !
