Drumbrutes are the most underated drum machines ever made. I run my original thru a sherman and a pitch delay and kills any other drum machine i have even the jomox alpha
@@reecedeyoung6595 it could. But on their price range it couldnt. The idea of the drumbrute is simple. Brute...raw. naked. As for the rest you can Add a t resonator by jomox and ya good to go mate. I have a rytm a jomox and a 909. Drumbrute is shit ahaha but trust me when i tell you on a sherman and a t reso. Man. It kills em all. Like.. all. It has the dirtiest kick on the market im talking bout the original drumbrute .impact is tard more hifi. I feel arturia could have made the best possible drum machine out there if they wanted to but they choose to aim their weapons having easily the best mono and one of the most versatile polys ever made. They french they like simplicity on drums on a deep huge modulation of everything else
Last night I wachted the first video you mentioned and I ended until midnight playing around with my DBI. Thank you for your inspiration, tips and good taste in "hand-made electronic music".
life goals right here, well done I can play any instrument with a string proficiently, but man, these modern drum machines and recording programs feel so overwhelming to me when I sit down with them feels like taking a collegiate tech class for the first time, haha, just so much to it all
I used to play a lot of classical instruments, and this is definitely a whole new ball game. I view it more like constructing a musical algorithm to be interacted with, which I find to be a gratifying intersection of musicality and technology. It feels more like conducting to me, than playing. That being said, I think a lot of it is pretty overwhelming too haha
@@RickHowell that’s an awesome way of looking at it, I’m always coming at like playing an instrument but that’s not what it really is exactly I’ve played in rock bands for a living my whole life but I’m over guitar based music now…..would love to start a little electronic act, just my knowledge of the gear is holding me back at this point I’ll keep at it, and again, your video was very inspiring….thanks a bunch and good luck!
@@felipegarcia8400 Dude, come on. Thing is, the sounds on the Impact get boring very quickly. In my case it was a month or so. Either have more parameters per sound, or, or rather AND, have the opportunity also to use samples. That's why it's Pro cos both options.
Really surprised how versatile this little box is. But really amazing what you get out of it. I'm really impressed. You have definitely contributed positively to my purchase decision. Thank you for your content.
Crazy enough this is the only instrument! All the sounds are coming from the Drumbrute Impact. I posted a video like directly before this one where I talk about some theory in programming a techno track on the thing if you're interested in that too
Hey man believe me, trying to sync this with my daw and record midi is a nightmare. This was meant to be a low stress jam haha I did run the DBI through reverb delay and compression, but the sound source is only the DBI. I'm using the color kick setting and pairing it with low toms for the bass
Cool "one-box" project. Drum brute would be far cooler if it had a tunable bass voice and automation. At present you have to go to the analog ritm for something like that.
This is so sick!! Do you find you are more creative using this machine compared to programming drums into a DAW? I use a computer all day for work and it can be draining to stare at a screen to program elements. I'm looking into more hardware stuff to create tracks and inspiration.
Absolutely. That might be the only motivation to go into hardware at this point haha. There is a problem that many people with hardware find in that it can be a creative outlet to the point where people won't publish any music, because the process of recording definitely breaks the 'creative flow'.
Of course I don't remember specifics but it mostly came down to a ton of compression from FL Studio's Maximus and heavy reverb from Valhalla Supermassive
Only hardware would be a little tough, but if you send a kick drum through a reverb / delay, low pass, and compressor, you can get the rumble. Run that in parallel to the original kick, and compress the hell out of both of them. That's what I did here, but in software.
Hi my friend, I just ordered the Drumbrute Impact after watching your videos on it. I'm just wondering how do you get the reverb to sound on the different tones on the unit apart from the kick drum? Are you routing the kick to a different output route?
I actually only have two channels on my ADC. One of the channels is the FM drum, and the other is the rest of the mix. I wanted to send the FM drum into a ping pong delay, which is why I split it like this. The rest of the mix is doing some weird multiband splits in my DAW so that I can process the lows, mids, and highs separately, but the source is still just the entire mix minus the FM drum
@@RickHowell Thanks mate, I received it a couple of days ago. I'm actually suprised by how good it is. I love the random feature, it breathes new life into beats. I have it hooked up to an original Roland MC 909 via 5 pin midi which are hooked up to an MC 707. All 3 are midi clock synced to an Arturia keystep Pro. I feel now that the DB impact has completed my drum rhythm parts, so easy to use, very quick to use, and that random knob function is nothing short of a God send. Excellent product for sure.
What are the effects on FL, this is like the first time I am hearing the Drumbrute Impact sound so clean and loud? Like it's amazing how you manage to make it sound the way it does.
It's definitely something that doesn't get talked about so don't feel bad for asking! But I actually use an audio interface and connect the audio output from my drumbrute into that in order to get synths into FL. Because the interface only has two inputs, I can only record two separate tracks at a time, which is why there's two audio cables sticking out of the back
Wooow amazing Sound and Track, Love IT. I also have the Drumbrute Impakt, but I can't get a fat sound like you. Could you please tell me what software you use for mastering and what hardware effects you added. I'm really desperate here XD. You definitely deserve a subscription. please keep it up. greeting Silent Synth
Yeah, there's a lot of effects going on in general. Here I'm using Valhalla Supermassive (a free plugin) to give some reverb and delay, and compressoring the hell out of everything. I use FL Studio, and it has an amazing multiband compressor called Maximus I use all the time, which lets me play with the stereo separation on the lows, mids, and highs too.
Thank you very much you just made my day XD. I should also have fl Studio somewhere. I have to try that right away. Thanks again for your quick reply :). greeting Silent Synth
how do you record those fast rolls for the snare? i for the life of me cannot get it to work and am too lazy to decypher the manual. really nice jam btw
I only have two analog to digital inputs so I sent the FM Drum to its own channel, and the rest of the mix into the other, and both of them have their own delays
I don't specifically remember, but the FM drum is going through a basic ping pong delay and reverb, and the rest of the kit is running through Valhalla supermassive. I'm compressoring the hell out of everything too
