Just bought a used unit, in very good condition, from a fellow musician in NC...heck of a deal, too....much less than I would have paid, new, up here in Canada....I am thrilled to have this....after a brief check of my drum kit, I have discovered that, despite my best efforts and aging ears, my head tunings are somewhat erratic, with some lugs very close to what they should be for that shell and others wildly off.....lol....I have a busy afternoon ahead of me....it will be worth it, I'm sure. Thanks for developing and making this available !!

Tile works very well. Make sure that the tile is very flat. Textured tile will not give an accurate calibration because the DrumDial base will not sit flat. The Drumdial hard case (visit the Drumdial website) comes standard with a glass calibration square as shown in the video. Any flat piece of glass or mirror will work. For example, many DrumDial owners use the glass from a picture frame.

Hey, i just bought one used and i found that the middle pin/the tuning tip doesnt move properly, it moves very hard, like it is stuck. Do you have any idea how i can repair that?

George, your tuner is not functioning correctly and is in need of service or repair. Your tuner will need to be sent to us for service. The cost is $30 plus return shipping if outside USA.

Hello, I just bought a new one, but when I check the calibration on a glass, the indication is close to 72. Is there a problem on my drumdial ?

No, does not need to be at top center when not on glass. We set to top center here at the shop for uniformity. Set your tuner on glass, then set the zero to the large needle as shown in the video.

@@DrumDial hi, my needle is at 90 when I set 0 at noon and also does 4.5 turns...it fell last time I used it...

If the tuning shaft moves freely, your tuner can still be calibrated and function accurately. The zero will not be at top center when aligned with the large needle while set on glass.

Hi there after calibrating my Drum Dial the zero is at around 7 o Clock, is that normal ?

When calibrated at that position, your tuner will still function accurately. We set to top center here at the shop, but with an impact or similar, your tuner will change the calibration position.

If new, your tuner should be at top center. Is it possible to contact the place of purchase for exchange? Possible shipping damage?

@@DrumDial Thanks for that, just wanted to know, is there any way I can test to see if the device is still accurate are there any standardized testing tools for these? The place I bought it from are refusing to do an exchange as they believe the unit is not faulty as it can still be calibrated and according to to them will still be accurate.

We use calibrated test heads here at the shop and comparison pieces (single use DrumDials, etc.) for standard testing. Your tuner will work accurately if the tuning shaft moves freely and the unit is calibrated. Let us know if sending in for service. The only cost is shipping, the repair is no charge.

instead of glass, could the drumdial be put on tile flooring to calibrate?

The digital unit comes with a custom hard case and glass calibration square. It is easier to read in dark places (has a built in backlight). Both units have the same accuracy, but the displays are different.
