Yeah, thanks. Using the Alesis D4 as a drum source. Started working on a MIDI version years ago, www.fivemantrio.com/page-m2W6XPBQkkC9yNlP but the latency was too great. Someday...
@@otisirachi9816 cool. Yeah, I built one using a megadrum board for the brain and made a power block that adds power over the midi cable so it powers the brain over the one cable. the limitation has always been having a portable and powerful enough pc to run good drum sample software at low latency. But mini pcs are getting pretty powerful now, and there's a new Bluetooth midi adapter I bought a few years ago that I really need to finish integrating into the setup all my with a built in rechargeable battery so it's completely wireless. I went with a design that's more similar to the original zendrum, with the pads on the face and a 45 degree edge. But I went with more of a symmetrical wide v shape, like a stealth bomber :p
@@otisirachi9816 couldnt fault it really, easy enough to build and the ability to tweak the sensitivity of each pad is great. i'd bought one of the new versions of the megadrum a few years ago intending to make a new version of the zendrum that all surface mount component and all in one chips, but havent gotten around to it yet so i cant say for sure what its like. but it should be just as good. plus the control interface on the megadrum is essentially the same as the zendrum, an lcd screen and four buttons. so i think its pretty much the same level of functionality. being able to program layout profiles, stuff like that.
