His acting is beyond great. Trying to conduct a powerful piece like that, but feeling like the integrity of his line and overall band is compromised because he was forced to let Devin back on the line is eating at him even while he's instructing. Never took his eyes off Devin. Impeccable acting.
Dude I just realized by your comment that he was staring at Devon the whole time. I’ve seen this movie countless times and never saw that. Great analysis! ONE BAND!!! 👂🏼
He do from me I give him a Oscar him and nick best actor and best supporting actor 💯 I lov this movie for ever I played drums of course we love this in our band back in high school
Because the Dean of the University has him put Devon on the field even though he couldn't read music, which is one of the main pet peeves Mr. Lee has. Anyone, no matter how well they can play, HAS to be able to read music in HIS band.
@@LilCyco223 You explained it perfectly brother. The dean doesn't trust Doctor B judgement as to why Devin can't play within the musician then why hire him, If he can't pick or choose someone to be in his group. How about you do your job as dean and let doctor B do his job as a conductor. I mean he did get his Doctors as a musician in college so trust him. P.S please correct me if he had a PH.D or Masters. I know he has some bachelors for him to be a. instructor.
Imagine doing this song and u suddenly saw a stretch limo and police escort coming in and next thing you know, the king came out with petals on the floor and said, Akeem is that you!
It reminds me of the time my brother and I were watching step up 3. We slowed down the video to see how the dance moves we done on the battle of red hook. Not once did we notice a guy doing circles with his arms and stick his tounge out ever.
Mr Jones is the kind of conductor I'd love to play for. Expressive and precise, just what you want, particularly for a piece where each note has to hit at the exact right time!
I played in my high school band even had an opportunity to do a half time show in USC Trojan Coliseum man to watch this it's over whelming how time Flys played alto sax
I saw this in the theater when it was out (2002?). I couldn't help myself because I love Coming to America. At the end in Mr. Clarence's voice I said "who in the hell is that?" A few people got it and cracked up. The rest of them gave me a dirty look
Was feeling nostalgic and was just watching the original Coming to America and heard the motorcade music and was like wait.... THAT WAS THE MUSIC THE BAND PLAYED IN DRUMLINE!!! I saw Dr Lee (Orlando Jones) in my head doing the alternating hands up and down so i went on a google search and confirmed it. Lol. Two good movies
I love this movie, it’s one of my favorites!! ❤️ 😍 🤩 I do love this part!!! It’s always exciting to see music played like this and it so good!!! Drumline is one of my favorite movies!! ❤😊❤😊
Never noticed the last song the band was doing sounds exactly like King Jaffe Jofers theme from coming to America! I been hearing this my entire life lol
What gets me is how bright it is at at the field At this time of year At this time of day In this part of the country Localized entirely within a football stadium
This was my favorite scene where they were playing this song from coming to America I was so amazed I was like wow this dope it was even perfect for working out with to entertain myself too.
Came here after watching Coming to America (again) and recognizing the song from the movie. They play the melody when King Jaffe Joffer and fam cam to town to get Prince Hakeem lol
@gyasiansa3358 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0Okbig38sGo.html It's Called Kings Motorcade 🤴 it's From Coming to America produced by Nile Rodgers
It's crazy he feels like his art is so compromised. Kings motorcade is such a good song and it isn't some modern day rap or hip nonsense. I think it's a perfect original choice to add flavor without becoming another mainstream knock off with no respect for the music.
Its funny cuz I actually rapped over this song and wish it got sample clearance just so then people could appreciate not only how good the original song is, but how good this rendition of it is.
I've been hearing this song performed at games my whole life, totally ambiguous to where it came from. I saw Drumline and my WIFE told me what it was. Holding this L.
Somebody please develop a marching band and drumline simulator for Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. I think that will be really cool. This scene inspires me to direct my own marching band.🤣👍
