This is such a great concept! Please do more. I’d way rather hear drummers do this - hear a drumless track and guess what the drums will be - instead of them hearing the song with drums and trying to replicate it perfectly as quickly as possible. It’s amazing how “Travis-esque” your parts are but yet how different it is from the studio track. It’s like a second take from Travis. Love it.
This was honestly fun to watch. Do more guesstimation videos with this format. Love your drumming and then love your reaction to the actual drumming on the song. Keep up the great work!
Travis's stuff was obviously great, but I liked your version going into double time! Sounded great. I saw Blink last night in Dublin, Travis was IMMENSE.
Nice video! And very realistic btw... Thanks for not be like Drumeo and say "I never heard All The Small Things" 😂 you should do with Black Rain... Definetly the most unexpexted song from Travis
"That groove is sooo cool" True shit bro.. that's what Travis does and something I love him for.. He's not the best but he definitely does have a way of making the drum sound better ❤️
I feel this sounds more like something Scott would be playing..Travis is more evolved sharp even when he's smashing everything around.. Overall, I think you did a pretty good job keeping the Blink182 vibe on it 😁
I was seriously not convinced. Because some of these types, with guitar, bass, and drums (especially) have became a big deal. Which i love them. I refuse to believe everyone hasn't heard a lot of the songs they claim thiley haven't. This? Oh, i don't doubt you never heard this, it shows. And i love you for it. I need this shit more.
It's been a little while since I've heard this song, but I couldn't quite remember the drum part to the song, and your second take could've easily convinced me, this was super cool to watch!! And you're definitely sleeping on some really good Blink music! California is my favorite Blink album, Matt Skiba is amazing and I kinda wish we got to see more of him with Mark and Travis! Not the same vibe as what people might be used to, but it's really good!
This is one of my favorite blink albums, of course i LOVE Tom, but the "Matt" era of blink WAS something special. A LOT of great tracks on this. Enema of the State is still top tier though.
This was rad man, would love to hear you try another blink song you haven’t heard. Or if not blink def do Angels and Airwaves! Ilan Rubin & Atom Willard are amazing drummers.
Very reasonable guesses at what he might've done, but I also immediately knew there was just no way he was gonna get it right! That's part of what makes Travis so great, yeah he's got a style but every now and then he just does some stuff you could've never predicted.
@DruMarshallDrums definitely overhated, I think a lot of people assumed the same as you. Even if the album was decent, "It's not Blink without Tom" so everyone hated not even willing to listen to the album.
@DruMarshallDrums If you are going to listen to the album, I recommend listening to only the deluxe songs first. Everyone agrees that the Deluxe songs are better than the original songs. And just to cover my ass. It's in my opinion that it's their worst release, but there's a difference between worst and objectively bad. It's a 6-7/10, but when you're comparing it to 10/10 Enema, TOYPAJ, and Self-Titled, it seems terrible.
I too have never heard this song and I’ll be honest I think I liked your version better overall.. I feel like Travis has recorded soo many songs that he feels the need to one up and over complicate certain parts just for the sake of doing something different than what he’s done in the past and it doesn’t always serve the song the best. Now there are parts of his performance I liked more but overall yours had a better feel for a pop punk song. Never seen your videos before but I subscribed hoping for more videos like this 😅
Thank you for watching and for the kind words! I can see what you mean, Travis has a reputation for always pushing himself and it can be difficult after recording so many songs to keep doing that. I’ll definitely keep making more videos, I appreciate the sub! 🫡🥁
@@DruMarshallDrums He wrote the line "I wish you would take my radio to bathe with you, plugged in and ready to fall" and would yell a lot - his range in inconsequential
Another drummer to emulate, you say? Dave Grohl Songs for the dead (if you haven't heard it) or something from the Foo Fighters new album as I am under the belief that Dave did all the drums. If not, the FF self-titled is all him
Dave Grohl rules!! I plan on doing a video about Monkey Wrench (there’s an older version with another drummer and apparently Dave didn’t like it so he redid the drums himself) and I’ll try to guess which one is Dave!
Funny cause I had never heard this song either and the whole time I'm telling myself "no, I think Travis would do hat rolls in the verse" or "naw in the chorus Travis is definately smashing the crash more"
Well played and honestly true to form for Travis so even when you were off the mark you might as well have been because it was basically luck at that point. If I may offer one man's constructive piece criticism: I wish you'd explained a bit more WHY you chose to play what you played instead of just stating it. Also could've been fun to review the final product section by section. Cheers mate good luck!
california actually has some pretty good songs, like no future, bored to death, rabbit hole, dont mean anything (deluxe version) and (ironically the best song on the album, imo) left alone. nine on the other hand is a total fail. "first time" is the only listenable song, but merely because it is a worse version of feeling this.
@@DruMarshallDrums ah. Fair enough 👍🏼 (Btw I’m an old skool blink fan as in watched them in local San Diego bars before the “182” and I have to say the new album is one of my favorites)
i didn't listen to the non-tom stuff either. 1999-2003, neighbourhoods, dogs eating dogs, and one more time are the ones that i've heard. blink is the mark, tom, and travis show, not anyone else
Someone recently said that they look at it as Van Halen vs Van Hagar and that helped me appreciate the Skiba era more. It’s not the same but I do like a few tunes from them!
Really enjoyed this… as someone who has overlooked both albums with Matt Skiba.. you wasn’t miles off it! I was very impressed.. but Trav is in a total league of his own and that’s taking nothing away from you my friend 🫱🏻🫲🏼 I would’ve been happy if Trav had played what you played.. really enjoyed the Vid 👍🏻 good stuff
Wow thank you for the kind words! Travis is indeed in a league of his own and will always be among the legendary drummers of our time. Did you hear blink released a teaser of 4 new songs recently? They’re sweet!
