I have to hear a song many times before it hits me on that level. Even then it's super rare. Except for like game or movie music, if I hear the music of a super emotional part, it hits me harder than the part itself.
I really liked P4 lol. Reptile, Blood Eagle, Garden In The Bones, It's Only Smiles, Sentient Glow and Satellites all slap. Periphery really don't have a bad album imo.
not only that, the ending just before the orchestra part is also a part of Four Lights (6:59 in this video, it just has more double kick but its the same DADADADA DADADADA DADADADA :p ), "Searching for something behind" is part of Omega's lyrics. Both tracks have a lot of reference to Juggernaut, like I think Wildfire says "kill them slow" like Psychosphere's lyrics, etc. There's many more!
I have never seen a song divide so well such an intense and an angsty vibe into a song. It is beyond perfect. It’s been a while since I last cried to a song. The song is beyond majestic and it is easily becoming one of my favorites. Can’t wait to listen to the album oh my fucking god.
Duuuude they have mastered the art of doing these mood swings and transitions. I am going to do a live stream when the album drops to react to the whole thing
If p4 didn't happen then Reptile, Satellites, and Blood Eagle wouldn't have happened. I would have taken those 3 as an EP maybe with its only smiles on there too haha. Juggernaut is definitely perhaps the best album in metal history though so it's really hard to top that on an album to album scale. I think wildfire was only okay. Some fantastic parts, I'm sure it'll grow on me as time goes on, but this song is a solid 100/10
Yeeesss! Those are the three songs that really stood out from that album but dude I can’t even tell you one song name other than those 3 from that album. It just wasn’t my cup of tea I guess although I still love my boys at Periphery co. I personally think both songs are 100/10. These were a great pair to drop
Cmon gotta mention Garden in the bones as well as Sentient glow...they're absolute bangers. There were only a couple tracks on Stan that I didn't really click with. The Album as a whole though is a 10 for me, Reptile being one of if not my favourite song from periphery now....shits literally a movie
dude matt is one of my all time favorite drummers. I love him as a person and his drumming is god tier. I need to do another reaction to one of his videos again cuz I have not seen all of his playthroughs that are out there
Hey guys I do NOT hate P4 Hail Stan. It is just my least favorite periphery album (next to P3) and although it’s well written and has excellent musicianship I just never go back to listen to it as much as I do with P2 and juggernaut. This band doesn’t write bad music. Ever.
I am not that familiar with all their catalogue. Marigold is what got my attention when I discovered it, and then I saw the live Meinl video for Reptile and it grabbed me. It's why P4 is one of my favorite albums all bands/genres included. I now love a lot of their catalogue but I'm still not familiar with everything they put out. I'm not saying that to invalidate your sentiment, I'm just giving you mine and we can all enjoy what we enjoy more. That said, yes Djent isn't a genre. I'm not a fan of what comes from this mouvement (don't know how to call it), but Periphery is something else! I like this song better than Wildfire, probably because of Mark's Black Metal influences if it's what I think it was. It sounded like it at least. It seems I tend to be drawn towards Mark's writing more than the other. Not saying the other suck of course, they don't. It's just Mark speaks to me more. I don't really know how to phrase it. Also, another band I instantly liked in this "style" is the french band Hypno5e. They consider themselves Cinematic Metal and it makes sense listening to their material. If you don't know them, I heavily suggest you to give them a listen. Their first release, Acid Mist Tomorrow is one of my favorite albums of all time. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the context in which I discovered the band or not but I love it. [To whom is interested for the context, otherwise ignore that part: I went to a Gojira gig a while back with some friends. One of them brought Mushrooms, the somewhat poisonous kind. They started to take effect when Hypno5e came out and it was insanely great! The weirdest part is Gojira sounded cold and weak after that (by comparison), even though we were still up there and still an amazing performance. Especially when the Duplantier bros switched instruments, it was fun as hell. I've later listened back to Hypno5e sober, and it was still amazing. No idea if what we did at the show locked some sort of bias towards them but I still loved their stuff and still do to this day.] Anyways, I hope it wasn't too much rambling. Thanks for the videos and cheers from France! 🍻
We had very similar reactions to this song upon first listen, man. For me at least, it's perfect. It's Periphery at their perfection. It's just above and beyond what I could have hoped for as a Periphery stan. I can't get enough of it.
Matt is the best in metal. Frankly I'm unimpressed by speed. All it takes is practice, speed isn't difficult, what Matt does is insanely difficult. Not to mention he has all the speed and chops that anyone else does. Right from p1 he did shit I've never heard other metal drummers do. He reminds me more of a solo drummer like larnell Lewis or something than a rock drummer. He's that good. His faces are pretty atrocious tho LMFAO
It was ok but I didn’t really listen to it more than a few times. I love some of the songs like reptile but it wasn’t sticking with me like juggernaut and P2 did
I just don’t think it was periphery’s best work. I liked the album but I could feel like they didn’t put their heart into it like they usually do. Still a great album but for them it felt like it was lacing or what we know these guys are capable of.
Guys it’s cool! I respect your opinions, I just didn’t like P4 and P3 as much as the other albums. Still thank you for coming to my video and commenting! I really appreciate it.
Reaction videos Lemme give y’all a heads up They never gave a crap what y’all think That’s why they are pushing the envelope without a care Some of the best musicians in the business Can’t respect it, get out
