The whole album just breaks me and builds me up again, everytime I listen to it...but for me Take Me Back To Eden is the absolute accumulation of EVERYTHING they did up to now...
Yeah, first you think "Are You Really Okay" is this bright sounding release after "Ascensionism" - and then you realize what it's about and it breaks you.
I see people thinking AYRO is more upbeat after Acensionism but then the listen to the lyrics and realize what a punch in the emotional balls it truly is. I cry every time I listen to it. It almost broke me the first time I listened to it
Thank you for reacting to the two songs in sequence. Just hearing “Are You Really Okay” for the first time and getting Pink Floyd vibes. The singing and production are more dramatic and definitely more powerful than anything from PF, due to ST’s broader palette. The subject is their lore around the goddess named Sleep, whereas PF delved into friendship and mental illness.
This band have blown me away& this is coming from an old dude who’s gods were Led Zeppelin, Rush, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Yes, etc etc& I would not have believed that a band from today would move me, they are brilliant. Well done ST ❤👏👏👏👏👏
The best thing I found out this years, really gotta the reactor channel i keep finding around youtube, lots of good music i've never heard about, theses guys are my personal fav atm
2:00 Dog: *Nah, I can't take this *💔 Ascensionism is such a masterpiece because of the absolute roller coaster of emotions that leaves you torn about the way you feel at the end. Sadness, blissful anguish, anger (you're gonna watch me ascend), determination (I'll take what I want, then leave), and just a few seconds later (confusion and anger) "YOU MAKE WISH I COULD DISAPPEAR". This one messed me up.
Loving the reaction, hearing you say how Are You Really Okay? how its a release after Ascensionism to me is so beautiful. Because if you listen to the melody its a semi bright and etherical song. But lyrically it's so deep and heavy. It really showcases Vessels voice and ability to show his emotions so well with it.
I enjoyed this reaction so much! Glad you listened to multiple songs at once :) If you're interesting in II's drumming, I can recommend his drum playthroughs (Alkaline, Like That, Hypnosis) and see what you think of them! Keep up the great work 🤘🏽
Can't wait for you to listen to the 3 albums ~ it is a trilogy, full circle. When you absorb the lyrics you will appreciate them even more than what you have so far. Great reaction ~ sub here🤘 Thank you
@linkreadermusic3094 I just experienced a live Ritual tonight in Baltimore, Maryland, and I will never be the same🫶 Their live show is so surreal. Deep Soul Touching experience 💛
Really appreciated your reactions and observations: you brought new music to life for me. I didn't know about the album until this video and as a long time Sleep Token fan, to experience parts of the latest release for the first time with someone else has anchored it strongly as if I'm listening with a friend...Well I messaged friends, but no response, so thanks for the video! Gonna go and grab my decent headphones and go on this sonic journey.
Personally, Ascensionism edges out TMBTE for best song on the album for me. I think it is better song composition-wise, but TMBTE is a special epic for fans steeped in the lore (as is Euclid). Ascensionism is, objectively, the best; TMBTE and Euclid are, subjectively, the best.
I'm pretty new to the band, have been listening to their third album only since last week, but it has blown me away. Chokehold and Take Me Back to Eden are thus far the ones with a tighter hold on me, but the latter is definitely the most emotional. The lyrics in Take Me Back to Eden are so good, far from the obvious, and I can feel them even not knowing the mythos or the lore the band's building for themselves. "Reset my patient violence along both lines of a pathway higher / Grow back your sharpest teeth, you know my desire." It brings me to tears, honestly. Great videos - this one and others you've made on Sleep Token. I like how you allow the track to flow and add your comments here and there! Cheers!
8:33 oh no lol I was waiting for the moment where the lyrics caught up to ya, I feel like 13:00 is about when it hit. It seems so light and cheery until you realize what he's saying lol
On the title track, those production bits made me feel it was supposed to be a “in the belly of the beast” type thing. The production felt really one dimensional up to that point and then you heard that growl panning and then suddenly massive reverb as if you were in a large cavernous space. Not sure if that was the intent but very cool regardless
I love how he was like is this the best song on the album because when I heard this I thought the same thing then I got to Take me back to eden and I was like sh!t and Im still conflicted which one is better.
"That might be the best track on the album". It probably is. But the thing is that every single song has such immeasurable replay-value that I don't even know. If I could only listen to 2 tracks from this album for the rest of my life, I'd maybe pick "Ascensionism" and "Euclid", but it'd hurt.
Good reaction to these killer songs! You should have the lyrics pulled up when reacting to Sleep Token as they give so much more context to the music and make it that much more special and understandable. 🤘🏽
I don't know if you notice the art work of each song but gor "are you really okay?" She is holding a fetus the female character. Ive heard rumors the song is about Vessels partner who is dealing with mental health and possibly had a miscarriage as well. "Dripping crimson on the carpet."
Hey! I edited out The Apparition because I didn’t like my reaction and honestly it didn’t do much for me on the first listen. But it has grown on me and I enjoy it!
I cannot emphasize this enough. From one drummer/ musician to another, really try to listen to lyrics at the same time. Your first impression of are you really ok could not have been more wrong, which I am sure you are aware of at this point. That is probably the most intense and lyrically heavy track on the album. Nothing light hearted or optimistic about it. Really work on active listening, focussing on all of the aspects at the same time. It will make you a better musician and a better content creator. It's something I learned a long time ago in my music undergrad studies. Good content though man. Keep it up.
Thanks for the feedback. It’s naturally very difficult for me to focus on lyrics at first listen- especially when it’s so musically interesting. But I’m now fully enthralled by the lyrical mastery in this trilogy.
@@linkreadermusic ...How is that even humanly possible? I literally cannot *not* pay attention to lyrics. And the lyrics are *so clear.* There's no ability to misunderstand them.
I've been an instrument player since I was a preteen, so it's always instruments-first naturally for my brain. I hear the vocals for their musical quality before I notice the lyrics. @@mclark347
Man you need to listen to the lyrics bro... great music reaction but, with the lyrics, it so so much more impactful, and at most pivotal moments your not there... Just one thing Are you Really Okay? listen again, you may ball your eyes out instead of it being a pallet cleanser, It's hitting on mental health / self harm , and at worst suicide, it's a heavy one in contrast, buuuut great your loving the music man same here!!
@@Crazy_Country_Redhead .... but the medium used to convey the meaning is garbage. Many popular groups of the past two+ decades are crap; Green Day, Cold Play and dozens more.
This band isn't my favorite band. They don't make a favorite song of mine. But the collective work on this album I have to say, bridges so many genres and invites so many different people to listen that I can confidently say that this is probably the most vastly influential music album I've heard in the past 6-8yrs. With polyphia being the last rock based band I can put in this category.
