Thanks so much! The earlier Duthart salutes are deceptively “simple”. Not always a lot of notes, but some subtle trickiness happening for sure! And a lot of room for musical interpretation!
That's insanely cool! Great combo. I'm working on this old solo atm, the A grade Queensland Irish Association Pipe Band played this in the 70's when I was learning, always wanted to play it someday. Been away from snare 30+ years so getting there, some of those fast singles? Plenty of practice ahead😅
Hi Matt & co, very nicely played! Do you happen to be aware of a piece that Mr. Duthart wrote for the great Buster Bailey that was reputed to be so difficult that no one could play it? I assume Mr. Bailey could play it though :)
@@HeyItsMattBell Hey Matt, thanks for writing back! Yep, all’s well and good here, thanks, and I hope same for you and yours! My ongoing research only discovered Alex Duthart this morning (I know: slow learner; arrested development, and so on 🤣), as well as that piece, and finding out about his friendship with Mr. Bailey. I don’t yet know the name, but I’m on it, and I’ll let you know as soon as I know. My goodness: I’ve fallen madly in love with Duthart and his drumming. I understand a little more about Buster Bailey (my favorite) having now heard Mr. Duthart! So great!!! 🥁💗
This playlist is a breakdown of the Salute and the sheet music is included. He is brilliant and breaksdown heaps of Big Alec´s scores with music ru-vid.com/group/PLY7kYCzN2qfSK-T_jiiuhXJEXYd2tEuSv
