Connect more pads to your V-Drums kit. Drumsplitters make it possible to split a dual zone input to separate head and rim signal and connect 2 different pads.

Drumsplitters are compatible with TD-9, 11, 12, 15, 20 and 30.
They are not working with TD-4 and TD-25. Since it is not possible to assign the 2 pad zones independently.
Many Roland middle class kits have dual zone Pads that can be triggered by hitting head or rim. This is a feature typically needed on the snare drum, as you want to be able to play rim shots. However tom pads have this feature too, and even cymbals. These drumsplitter cables make it possible to split a dual zone input to separate head and rim signal and connect 2 different pads. This can come in handy if you want to extend your kit without upgrading your module or adding a second one.
There are 2 kinds of splitter cables available, a female and a male version. The male version is needed to split inputs directly at the module. The guys from drumsplitters.com offer them even in different colors. Head and Rim input are marked. Each package comes with an instruction sheet.

FYI: I build a drumsplitter myself with a 120 kohm resistor. It works great with the TD25 IF you use the kit as a MIDI-Controller. I use it with LOGIC X with superior drummer. You can change the MIDI-note-number in the soundmodule. So you can set the cybmbals for example zu China and Crash (or whatever). Im really happy with this solution. Im recording with Midi-Drums anyway. So it suits me fine. :)

Hi, I have a TD25KV and I would like to add another pad and another crash, I contacted Roland and they said that the inputs behind the TD25 module are stereo, so I need a Y cable to split. Can you tell me if a normal male stereo adapter and 2 mono female might to go well? Thanks

+Vdrum Tips I am a beginner and I bought the TD-11. I should have bought the KV Version which I did not and now I regret to have these rubber pad toms. I want to change them soon to better mesh head toms. For the snare I am thinking about an upgrade too. ( ich komme aus Frankfurt und Ihr? Alles Gute noch für Euren Kanal, Ihr macht das Toll ) Gruß Jörg
@Vdrumtips1
@Vdrumtips1 8 лет назад
@mrsayang
@mrsayang 8 лет назад

Will the splitter still work if the input is meant for dual zone, but the pad you're using is single zone? For example, the TD11K. All the pads are compatible with dual zone capabilities (minus the bass drum, obviously), however the K version has those single zone rubber pads. Will the splitter still work for those toms or will the pads HAVE to be dual zone like the TD15?
@Vdrumtips1

You can connect duo or single zone pads to the splitter. They will both work as if they are a mono pad. You just need a dual zone input that can be split.

Gleb Novikov I guess you want to splitt the bell and bow cables of a 3 zone ride? I am not sure if that would work. The bell cable is an input that works different. You cannot see it as normal input. You can split the bow cable, but it might be that only 1 of the 3 zones will work.

To explain the idea; splitter is a 3.5mm T stereo jack type. Male tip is connected to the drum module and two female tips are connected to the mp3 player and headphones. Just i am thinking about this connection model could damage the drum module sound card? Is it connected OK do you think? Or i have to use an another connection type. Thanks..

Vdrum Tips for what i’ve read about yamaha modules is that they are piezo/switch inputs which when i tried to convert my acoustic snare into an E drum, i was never able to make the rim to work with the piezo wiring instructions you gave on one of your videos. i read that a switch had to be made for the dual zone to work on yamaha modules. what i did then was to connect my snare to the 9/10 input with a stereo cable and wired the piezos like a normal stereo connection and that worked for me. now im just trying to figure out how to add more pads. thanks for your quick reply.

+Basem Botros head/rim link*
@Vdrumtips1
@Vdrumtips1 8 лет назад
Basem Botros Hi Basem, that is great, what pad can you split? The snare? My problem with splitting the TD-4 is, that you cannot assign different instruments to either head and rim, except if you are using sample software like SD 2.0.
@basemkhalil1976
@basemkhalil1976 8 лет назад
+Vdrum Tips you can split the snare and the 2 crashes and the ride after you turn off head/rim link into the settings once you get back to the instruments page if you hit the head of the snare it shows maple 1 and if you hit the rim it shows maple 1 r, for the cymbals it shows heavy 16 and heavy 16 e so basically after turning off head/rim link you can assign different sounds to each cymbal within the td-4 itself, you can also check that in the user manual of the module, it was as useful as the td-9 cause all the toms had a mono 1/4" cable but I actually used it for splitting cr2 into a second crash and a splash/China. So it was really nice but still I wouldn't even have came up with the idea or read the manual without your great video showing that it's actually possible with some roland module

I bought a set of these cables to split the signals from my Crash2 and Aux Tom on my TD-15K. I also bought a Roland BT-1 that I was intending to assign as a cowbell or closed Hi-Hat using the signal from my Aux Tom rim however, when I connect it up I start getting random ghost hits of the cowbell when I'm not even toching the drums and I've tried going through the pad set up but it doesn't seem to really make much difference. Is there a more in depth guide for trying to get rid of this problem or setting that seem to work for others with the TD-15K kit?
@Vdrumtips1
@Vdrumtips1 8 лет назад
+Baz76 Hi, i think there is a manual that comes with the splitter. You can definitely fix these issues win the settings. I recommend checking the TD-15 manual to understand these parameters and using it in combination with the drum splitter manual.

@Vdrumtips1
@Vdrumtips1 7 лет назад
The cymbal will become a mono trigger. You cannot choose, trough to the way a Roland E-cymbal is made. It is a piezo and a switch. With the splitter you only have the piezo.
@anthonyb924

So how can you choose what remains active out of bow and edge or is it a lucky dip? Or do both zones work but with only one sound assigned to both?

Scott Walsh ended up not working because it didn’t make one trigger as a rim shot and one as the pad. they both made the same sound

Appreciate the feedback. Owner had no idea either... Guess I'm better of combining 2 kits!

The part that kills me is that you can't choke the cymbals
@chaosdecides
@chaosdecides 8 лет назад
Chase Gardner I'd probably use it to add another cymbal for a splash or china so I wouldn't be overly worried about choking the cymbal. But it just limits what you can do if you want to incorporate the two instruments that conflict. They also recommend the Roland TMC-6, but as far as I can tell it's no longer available.

The drumsplitter is still a compromise, not the best solution. The TMC-6 would be better. The Aleses Trigger I/O does the same job as the TMC-6 and is still available.

I have a TD-9K2 and am using Addictive Drums 2 for my sound samples. So would I just need to run the TD-9K2 and Alesis Trigger I/O into my computer as two separate midi sources and just assign the midi mapping as needed?
@Vdrumtips1
@Vdrumtips1 8 лет назад
no, you run the Alesis Trigger IO into your TD-9's MIDI input. And then you go from the TD-9 to your computer. That is one of the awesome features of the TD-9 and why it is so much better than the TD-15:)

Check the description, the script is almost always there. I should maybe consider to add a subtitle. Thanks for your feedback my friend! It always helps.

do these work with nux dm-1?

So I’m trying to split two Yamaha cymbals using one of these cables and the TD 17. The module is recognizing each separately as the head and rim as expected, except the both are sounding choked. I tried stereo and mono cables and messed with the module but nothing is working. Any ideas?

I have the exact same problem and can't find a solution. Have you solved the problem by now?
@RcKDrUmm3R
@RcKDrUmm3R 6 месяцев назад
@@mvts.jvns777 yes I did! So you need one male drum splitter cable which gets plugged into the module, and then two 1/4 splitter cables. Both red ring ends will be plugged into the drum splitter (head and rim), the grey tip cables are unused, and the main 1/4 inch end gets plugged into each cymbal or drum

@Vdrumtips1
@Vdrumtips1 7 лет назад
Can you assign different instruments to each zone of lets say the cymbals? Even if yes, I would not split a TD-1K. These kits are not made for upgrades. I would rather sell it and buy a bigger one.

Same, the old generation Modules like TD-10, 8 and 6 do not support this type of splitter.

But check the user manual, it could be there is another way to split for the TD-10. I know that the TD-6 supports a normal splitter on 1 input.
