Maria Theresa Francesca Castillo nobody has time for that bullshit. Why do women always want to turn a man into some little bitch? There is a reason why we have testosterone and women have estrogen.
Michael Johnston That's hilarious. Women aren't trying to turn men into little bitches, you guys are already little bitches without trying. You're whining about some guy crying on TV. It's not at all controversial or anything. So squeamish about human emotion, calm down would you?
Snaggle Toothed I have to save up money to wipe my ass but you don't see me complaining some times I just shove the shit back up my ass so i don't have to spend money
Snaggle Toothed not only are you hugely boring, not one woman cares what you think about their abortion rights. Plus, the fact that you’re turning a video about a historical icon into a place to complain about the policies you take personal issue with says a bit about your entitlement. BUT ANYWAY
Snaggle Toothed “god, these damn people using my hard earned money to pay for roads they walk on and bombs they drop on poor people”, would you rather pay for the kid? Lol. But none of the that matters because it’s literally illegal in the US to use federal funds to cover the cost of abortions. Thanks for just showing how ignorant and misogynistic you are! Not that we needed to know.
Playboy sued Gloria for the story. So I don't think Hefner was all change of heart for the sake of women. More like public opinion was shocked at his practice.
Hugh Hefner was gross, period. People really need to stop acting like he was an active player in the feminist movement. All he ever did was capitalize on the work other women did and pretended he cared.
Jeremy Fleshman, just my opinion, but having some experience "showing my ass for money" doing modeling, I can say it's one of the more physically demanding jobs I've had. And those bunnies have to deal with all kinds of creeps, which sounds like the worst customer service job ever.
... She was an investigative journalist. It was literally her job to snitch and exploit. And with regards to the bit about over exaggerating the negative aspect, she was a spearhead feminist undercover at the Playboy Club! What did you expect her to say? That she was glad to be seen as little more than eye candy?
Someone’s mad that she exposed the disgusting truth behind how women were treated at the playboy clubs sorry that it’s not ok to sexually exploit people
WTF? So she broke a huge story that created actually change within a company and gained national media attention yet she was blacklisted for a time because of the job she had to take to break said story? I would think publications would have been knocking down her door to hire her after that.
She is and was great, someone needed to do this. They violated labor laws too in terms of pay. They didn't pay the waitresses in Chicago for several weeks I think.
Absolutely true, and I thumbed you up. However, gently (as in, not mean-spiritedly) making fun of it is allowed with a friend. If I either belch loudly and a male friend makes fun of me for being unfeminine, _or_ I have one of my super girly moments and a male friend makes fun of me for being so girly, I have no problem with it, and I can't see men being more thin skinned on average than me. And when they've both had that much booze, I'd imagine they're automatically on a friendly level 😄
Hugh Hefner was a pretty slimy character. He is considered an American icon, and a lot of celebrities went to his parties with the hope of getting laid by the models. You can say that the women "chose" to be in this situation, but Hefner's sliminess was that his business model increasingly pressured women into situations they didn't want to be in without telling them. He closed his "Playboy Clubs" only after more and more sleazy news stories and complaints came out about them. He didn't need to do any of that to make money. That's the problem I have with him. He was never held accountable for his treatment of his female employees.
Well my teacher friend was in playboy and truth was that in early stage it was terrible but in the modern times like last 20 years they started respecting the models more and during her time never had been harass and saying Huey was nicest guy ever
@@gregcarlson8438 , you didn't know him personally, so you don't know how good he was or not. I only know what was reported about him, and the many reports by his former models and former female employees about how they were treated. I'm glad that you're glad that he did what he did. I'm glad to know that you do what you do. I'm also glad that I did what I did. You know?
Goddess in Training well they could do something useful that isn’t based on their looks, maybe they’d be better paid and get some job satisfaction that wasn’t based on the make gaze. Women didn’t have the choices in the 60s that they have now. So now a little grown up accountability please
@Diane Berg exactly. cheerleading is also one of the most dangerous sports in the world, there's not a single reason why these women should be paid this little
andrewthezeppo the point is not whether it’s useful, rather people (men) want to see them do it and are willing to pay. I don’t see people (men or women) who want to see cheerleaders do what they do. Doing what you want to do, doesn’t mean people have to pay you to do it.
"Poor baby, can't hack it in the big city? Gonna move to the Bay Area and pretend that was your dream the whole time? Have fun always carrying a light sweater."
Really, Feminism did a lot for society that is often ignored, and contrary to popular belief, we still need feminism today, in all countries even the west.
Keepadagroov she , and feminism in general, opened up a new world for women. Equal pay equal opportunity, better response and prevention for domestic violence and rape, just to name a few things.
+Isaac Baranoff You sound so fucking butthurt. What's the matter? You're mad you have to make your own sandwich cause the wimmenz aren't in the kitchen anymore?
Yea I agree I mean if a woman hits a man she deserves to get hit back like a man they should also help pay for dates ask men out and feel the rejection that men feel they should buy men jewelry I'm so on bored woo! Feminism!!!
@@stephanierodriq I love that movie too I remember watching it on TV LOL when it came on TV. Delta Burke and the mom from Growing Pains were in it too. 🤣
1. is being trans a bad thing to you? why? 2. once again, are you okay? did something happen in your childhood to be so fucking weird and rude like this? thanks, let me know!
Emma Cook i know this is random, but i wanted to apologize to you on behalf of the aggressive, uncalled for manner in which this guy has accosted you on a simple comment. I thought the same thing when he cried, ive always liked the host(dont remember his name ironically) as a person, and wanted to get drunk with him, haha. Congrats on your engagement, you seem like a lovely lady. You handled this little back-and-forth with more poise than i would have xD Cheers
Snaggle Toothed whats with you resorting to sexual insults? Like none of this is called for at all. Take a look at what you just said to me, and reflect it back on yourself. Youre the one who responded to Emma's comment in the first place being derogatory and insulting for the sake of attention. And if i were looking for a "guy to fuck" why would i have directed my comment at an engaged woman? You need to chill the fuck out. Your insults are falling flat. Get a life, sir.
I think a lot of people in the comments' section are very much misinformed on what exactly feminism is: the advocation of women's rights on the basis of equality among the sexes. The operative word here being equality. True feminism is not the same thing as "misandry," or the dislike of men. Gloria Steinem isn't a perfect person, but her flaws can't take away from the significant, positive impact she's had on women's rights in the United States.
I’m guessing a lot of the people groaning that “they willing,y became bunnies, they could have quit at any time” are probably Ayn Rand readers. And also probably never read anything about brainwashing. Subjecting the women to such domineering, and even humiliating terms was a way of making them feel powerless, and hence making them feel unable to quit. Also worth noting that Hefner was a very powerful man across various media in those days, so no surprise that people would be hesitant to blow the whistle and incur the wrath of the Playboy empire when it was at its peak.
Might be worth mentioning that Ayn Rand, like Machiavelli and other proponents of hyper individualism, died alone. Be like Gloria - choose love, be love. Keep fighting the good fight.
@@Jacob-mq3mh It is relevant. Any lack of empathy for the women subjected to the playboy ploy - a lack of compassion that would portray them as complicit by choice to work there (and the same argument made by modern men who choose to see the brave women stepping forth in the "me too" movement as somehow at fault) is not only chauvinism - it is tribalism, or hyper individualism - the belief that we are all out for ourselves. This is an invulnerable stance that usually lays far greater punisher on the believer (see my comment, below) as it maintains that life is pretty lonely and competitive. Gloria's fight for others and compassion for the women subjected to this demanding, disgusting endeavor stands head and shoulder above what would be the Randian view of the whole system. I hope that helps. For more, read The Fountainhead, the works of Machiavelli, Nietzsche and Hobbes. Or just choose to go straight to Brene Brown, vulnerability and compassion work, and the joy of being surrounded by others who love and uplift because we get that some systems really do suck and we are all in this together.
LEGALLY BLONDE! I didn't get the reffrence the first time watching it, but then i watch this video (and read your comment) and now i get it, i love it, and i'm going to rewatch LB for the fourth time this week.
I remember as a highschool student tutoring my friends in history one of them said that I explain history just like this show and I couldn't be more flattered after seeing these.
This was a great show!! Hopefully y’all can come back even it is just on RU-vid! Aww so beautiful to see someone be so proud of another peer/ friend ! Love to see honesty and transparency on tv!
LOVE IT. Love it! Loveitloveitloveitloveitloveitloveitloveitlovelitloveitloveitloveitloveitloveit I can't believe he cried. That was adorable. I had no clue about all this! But I do now.
I love the way Derek interacts with women. He's freaking great. Also... I need to learn more about Gloria Steinem. And Katie Nolan. This was super interesting.
Dillan Parker fuckin’ nightmare is what it is. Wish I could just have a couple like most people, but no, I just have to pound them one after the other until my whole system is begging for mercy.
Let it out man. Check out some AA meetings near you. It isn't for most, but if you can (I can't, yet) it will work. I just quit my line cook job to work at a car wash. I was making $18/hr to making minum wage plus tips (sometimes $10-11/hr on a good day). No stress though. Your health is more important than material things. That's my Input (after finding out why I wanna drink or feel something other than myself), and you can find 100 other different inputs in an AA meeting. Then again there's some bad ones. But that life. I wish you the best of luck. From one alcoholic to another.
Can't believe nobody is appreciating Katie Nolan's incredible delivery of this story. Nolan: top tier job. Kate-tober is the best part of AFE every year.
i love abbi jacobson!! I see so much of myself in her she’s a high key role model for me she’s already accomplished so much although I think she will continue to acquire fame and success.
Is it just me or is Katie Nolan the cutest thing you've ever seen? I'm not talking about physically, clearly she's very pretty, but her personality. Hilariously and greatly (albeit drunkly) told story, very interesting too as always. But she is just the most adorable person ever imo.
A friend who grew up in Chicago told me how her family’s car broke down outside the Playboy club in a snowstorm when she was a kid. They went inside waiting for a tow truck. The dad was drooling, the daughter thought the bunnies were glamorous, and the mom was like “I’ve gotta get these 2 idiots outta here, pronto!”
I like the host so much more over the years he's been doing this show. Not only is he funny, but he has opened up a lot more than he did in the earlier episodes of the show. I like people who aren't afraid to show their vulnerabilities.
What I take with me about her is that she cared about people like me. I never felt like anyone really cared about me until I read her work. Writers, even female writers, up until her always felt wrapped up in the business of men, and like someone who looked like me was a side note, even as the protagonist. She makes me feel seen and heard. She made the things that have happened to me feel real.
I don't know if it's genuine or just editing, but I love how sometimes the speaker will lose track and interrupt Derek when he tries to remind them. Speaker: What was I talking about...? Derek: You were sayi- Speaker: OH RIGHT SO...!
some time in the future there should be a drunk history episode about Derek, for educating the masses about historical moments, figures, etc... he really is one himself by now.
The propper bunny way of serving is done wrong. It's called the dip, to prevent men from seeing into their cleavage. You have your hip facing the table and reach back while bending your knees. Hef's brother Keith was the one who usually taught the girls at his location.
@@delvyntrinidad7131 The bunny dip was part of training. Since the start and the end of Playboy Clubs. Even in the reality show The Girls Next Door they still had to learn for the new (its gone now I think) playboy club in vegas. Hef is very anal about everything. He'd check out every aspect.
