Dry Brushing Furniture 101 with an Indian Folkart Finish 

One of the things that I like best about your channel is all the conversation that goes on while you’re teaching us. I especially like when Martin from behind the camera has something to say and laugh with you lol. But that’s one of the reasons I like watching your videos and why I get excited when I see a nice long video. That’s why it’s something wonderful that I get up. Make a cuppa tea and get all comfortable get my little dog in my lap and watch your show. I love what you teach us. That’s another at the top reason, but it’s all of it together. That makes it perfect.

What a lovely, lovely piece! I can see how adding the extra colors added so much more! I loved your dry brushing so much I’m considering dry brushing my kitchen cupboards. Oh dear. Thank you for addressing the question of whether to paint the inside of the cupboards, etc. it all adds up and gets quite expensive and in todays market, makes it questionable as to if you may even lose money on the project. You are very realistic about these things which is appreciated. As always, I love spending time with you and the lovely Martyn. God bless.

What if I want to paint the top of my chine closet white and the bottom black.? Do I prime it all black first? I want to do a inlay at the bottom of French look and divide it with clay flowers or swirls.

I have to agree about the wax finish. It’s unlike anything you can get with a liquid top coat, it not only leaves a beautiful look, deepening the colors and depth, but the textile aspect is what I love the most! It’s such a smooth buttery feel. I’ll never understand those that don’t like waxing! 😂

Luv this! How about some more hand painting! Why do I have to use inlays, how hard would it be to copy an inlay by just hand painting a copy of it? Especially with flowers!!!

That would be brilliant to do a week on gold. I have gilding wax, gold paint and gold leaf all sitting on the floor next to a piece I'm about to start... I can't decide what to use. Would love some discussion on that. Another fabulous vid Lel. So much help and so much inspiration!!

Hi Mel, the green sideboard that is not selling looks gorgeous but you're saying it's not selling. Try changing the description to hall cabinet or liquor cabinet. It changes the perception in the buyer as to what they could use it for. I call it marketing mindf....ing It works. Lol. Give it a try and let me know. 😅

I’m digging this design and colors. They remind me of Pioneer Woman design. And kind of folky. But those dry brush descriptions is hilarious… fluffy tufty, in betweeny, pouncy, uppy downy, back and forthy, and pouncer

Gorgeous piece to begin with. Love the details. I supposed one could do a raised stencil to give a similar look? It's like a golden star right in the middle. It's a great focal point. This was a masterpiece Marley Team!

This piece of furniture is stunning!!! As well as the Indian folk art vibe it reminds me of some of the Austrian/Alps traditional painted pieces. Adding that small amount of red was genius.

Oh I forgot to mention l bought a tiny humidor at a yard sale. It had lost its copper lining but not its nasty smell. The only thing that blocked the odors was Zinsser BIN Primer. It also stops bleedthrough of old resins seeping out of the wood. I’m guessing you have your favourite primer-this is my go-to in the states.
