@@genobreaker6665 technically WG has USS Tennessee but it’s on World of Warships Legends on console same goes for Oklahoma’s sister ship Nevada too i know console gets new stuff and stuff from pc but who knows maybe Tennessee and Nevada will come to pc?
She recovered from the destruction wrought at Pearl Harbor, came back stronger than ever, and even managed to avenge herself and her other battleship cousins (who were also victims of the attack on PH) during Leyte Gulf. Simply amazing. Ships like her deserve to be preserved. She literally embodies the indomitable American spirit of never giving up without a fight!
Things changed hidden Biden got elected But the fighting spirit of the true blooded American patriot still exists and will fight as hard as she did! Rocky069
A 40,000 ton Tennessee Class Beauty that has never given up. Courage for the crew and the ship herself along with new technology the humans gave to California. A ship that has helped on almost 75% of the Pacific Theater's Operations the Americans commenced. We will never forget her
Americans have a lot of them anyway. Remember it’s very pricy to maintain such big warship. They could keep it in San Francisco though. Still better than the Brits that didn’t keep even 1 BB.
Agreed. The united States does have a fair bit of ships in terms of preserved things. And that can be said for most things compared to Britain. It's just sad to see such a great warship having to meet her end to the scrappers torch.
I agree. Especially the USS Enterprise (CV-6). If there's any ship that has such a profound service history and exceptional battle record to deserve itself just a single slot in the preservation museum, it's gotta be her! She literally carried the entire weight of America's back throughout the war, from after the attack on Pearl Harbor up to the very last offshore battles near the Japanese homeland. It's fucking disappointing and frustrating that she didn't become a museum ship!
California was the first ship sunk at Pearl because it was in drydock when the Japanese attacked the dock workers refloated it and installed new hardware California was relaunched after two years of repairs and was used to sink the Fuso at Leyte Gulf.
You are incorrect. Pennsylvania, sister ship to the Arizona, was in dry dock on December 7th with destroyers Cassin and Downes. California was anchored by herself in the harbor several hundred feet ahead of Maryland and Oklahoma with the oil tanker Neosho in between. She suffered 2 torpedo hits and eventually settled. One cause of her sinking was that her watertight doors were not closed at the time of the attack. She was not the first battleship to sink. That “honor” belongs to either the Oklahoma, West Virginia or the Arizona. She was refloated, repaired, modernized and did participate in the last action between battleships of opposing navies at Surigao Straits during the Battle of Leyte Gulf in October 1944.
In WoWL, she is, IMO, the best tier 5 battleship. She is incredibly to both guns and torpedoes. Her broadside slaps with her accuracy. Finally, whenever there is an enemy carrier, I dare it to come after me just so I can de-plane it.
Just a bit of Trivia. After the Washington Naval Treaty, the Big 7 referred to the 7 battleships in the world with 16in guns. America had three of those. America had the term the Big 5, which referred to the Colorado and Tennessee classes as they had basically the same hulls just different guns. West Virginia, Tennessee, and California and the Straight battle landed their shells well as they all had the superior radar fire control.
New Mexico wasn't at Surigao, that was Mississippi Who had a less advanced radar suite than any of the Big Five She only fired off a single volley as the battle was ending To no real effect
People poo poo on this boat...it is not a bad boat at all. I love mine...it has some of the best dispersion for a BB in the entire game. High Explosive is underrated. Her armor layout tells you how to play her...mid range and kite away...with the accurate guns fire 1 salvo every 8 seconds...that ruins cruisers and all boats from playing off of your long reload time with a complete salvo. AA capable of defending herself (not others) quite nicely. Good turning boat without the mod...I spec her FULL damage control with flags and captain skill anti fire. Cruiser tactics you may find work quite well for this boat for you. Play in between the A and C caps, stay away from the flanks and the reach of the accurate guns will take care of the rest. Oh yes... if the 14inch and not 15 or 16 inch guns are the problem, when loading AP on BS targets in high tier matches...upper belt people, right below the deck line...9K to 13K salvos is satisfying. You can cit cruisers of any tier. Your own awareness is ultimately the biggest factor if you do well in this beautiful ship.
The main issue is still DPM though, that is just a fact. Her DPM is below average. Furthermore, 34.2s reload on 14in guns at TIER 7 is just plain bad. I know this ship inside and out, I will continue to advocate for Cali's much needed buffs, same as I did for secondaries accuracy.
@@SaiIor_Moon you can't have it all... the Schranhorst has good armor and secondaries but the guns for example. It is what it is... what can you do with it. My 54% was much higher but the law of averages with poor teams come into play. Cali is what you make of her...
@@BarrettL1970 That's the thing though, Cali DOESN'T "have it all". Not by a longshot. Hyuga laughs in 29s reload AND MBRB gimmick. And KGV laughs in 25s reload with improved HE for only 2 guns less. California needs SOMETHING to compensate, and she has nothing. She HAD 30s reload during testing, btw. And it made perfect sense.
@@SaiIor_MoonI did not say it did but I think you are missing the point. The Cali is an intro to the American Standard BB Line...it is supposed to break you in the long reload times of the Tier 8,9,10 BBSs. All slow, big boats with even longer reload. And quite a few players love those boats with their 41 sec total reload...but their dpm more than makes up for that with accurate guns...accuracy is the key here same as Cali. Yet I never see a Minnesota or Vermont up close till the end of the match during mele mode, same as California...they play the same. California is a premium intro to the Standard speed BB line.
The more mispronunciation I hear, the more I feel like this is an advanced A.I bot or smt 3:14, 3:32 shows not even a standard type battleship. Those are definitely the faster bois due to the distance between their barrels
It hurts. I LOVE the ship to death, but only aesthetically. Performance-wise in WoWs PC, she is completely underperforming. Her Legends counterpart destroys her, actually.
yea sad that all us dreadnoughts excluding the new generation fast battleships could only make 19-21 knots while the north carolinas and south dakotas made 27-28 while iowa made around 32-33
As the son of a WII vet who was aboard California on Dec 7th, I love to see her get some attention!!! I know that in Blitz we just got Oklahoma, and we have had WeeVee and Arizona for a while... But can we get the rest of the Dec 7th BBs?? Or at least California?? 👍😁
I know the USS Oregon BB-3 and USS Ohio BB-12 were built by Union Iron Works in San Francisco, but if you mean the only battleship built by Mare Island Naval Shipyard then yes the USS California BB-44 is it.
Honestly I don't think California shouldn't be on Dry dock because she was sunk but was raised and saw service again. Ships that were sunk and raised didn't usually see service after. This is just my own opinion
But why does she have such an incredibly disproportionate reload time? She doesn't even have the range, accuracy, or secondaries to compensate. You keep doing this to American BBs, while other ships get decent trade offs. I just want an American BB to not suck anymore, like when they were actually competitive 2 years ago.
It's game balance only... and they don't suck, they are just balanced against what came before, and frankly they have too many balls in the air for us not to see them drop on a regular basis. California can work well but like many T7s suffers uptiered to T9. Badly. The AA isn't terrible really all AA is terrible now. Again, balance. I'd myself prefer a little imbalance if it properly reflected the traits of the ship, and rather rate ships on parameters like a Flex rating which covers in game power instead of constant Tier where everything has to share common characteristics. I mean Jesus it isn't Oklahoma...
California's main battery reload SHOULD be 30s, this would also bring her DPM in line with the other Tier 7 battleships(spreadsheet indicated below average DPM, which makes sense, because 34.2s reload on only 14in guns at Tier 7 is just not good enough)
Can someone explain me why this ship is in the game? Is way worse in evryting than the counterpart of the tech tree colorado, is literally a downgrade of it...
It has better range, far better concealment, and 25% more barrels. The Colorado does have nice heavy 16"s but frankly is not all that great. It is also a historic ship and therefore had a good amount of demand. I actually enjoy California, with range mode it is a decent cross map sniper and its conceal means it can get in and cruiser delete at close range. Though, with 14"s it does suffer when bow tanked by cruisers with the bow armor to do so...
Someting that i have learn is that in this game having more guns is worse, you just gonna end having shotgun. Also the guns reload is 4,2 second longer, with 60 seconds base for the guns to turn 180º. Having more range and concealment in a tier 7 is not worth at all, the maps you gonna fight are all small with high mountains, and you problaby gonna end being permaspot by a enemy DD almost the whole game. Another weakness of the ship is that while colorado has 406mm guns that can overmatch 26mm (the bow and stern armor of all tier 7 BBs and below), california just gonna bounce, the same is gonna happen is you get in a game with tier 8- 9 cruisers
@@dutchthespitfire3204 In Legends, yes, California has the CORRECT stats. In PC however, OOOF. 35% torpedo protection, less than COLORADO. 34.2s reload on 14in guns at Tier 7, btw. She is a Tier 6 battleship, with Tier 7 range, and Tier 8 AA. She NEEDS 30s main battery reload to gain a modicum of competitiveness compared to her Tier 7 BB counterparts.
@@stevenmoore4612 Yep! They were built up to 108' wide and no refit done increased that. The Tennessee, California and the 16" armed West Virginia were essentially rebuilt to 114'
She needs to be added into world of warships legends No questions asked . This amazing battleship with it's 12 guns seems like she could really pack a punch Whether she costs a lot Or if she's a free ship in a care package to all players Idc, I'd like to see her in world of warships legends . Goodluck to the wargaming crews who made all this possible And please, fix the problems with not taking advice from community contributors . It's best to listen to them
California is already in WoWs Legends, and I'm happy to say, the difference between her on Legends bs her on PC is night and day. Legends Cali gets the necessary 30s reload AND 40% torpedo protection! She is also effectively treated as a PC version Tier 6, placed in Legends Tier 5 (because all Tier 7 ships in PC end up in Tier 6 Legends, but California rightfully is addressed by Legends as Tier 6 in PC, so she is Tier 5 in Legends)
That would mean the entire map of every map. Heck, the 5" secondaries on US main BBs reaches 14km... that be useful in game. Then they'd have to fix spotting, and Yamato and Iowa would need insane range, and well here we go...
@@glensibat8979 In a video that had nothing to do with subs. If he wants to suggest anything, go to the forums or discussions. Theirs literally no need for that type of comment on here, like if anyone cares about subs. This ain't a sub video, it's a dry dock video.
Well if they made such changes on her before why not add two more main gun turrets on other side and set her on T9 ... they took ships with bad designs before and give them life by changing the design and making it work in so many cases where ship production stoped on drawing board .... in honor of what she was
Its a memorial ship and it deserves to be honored that way so leave the historical accuracy on the side besides that armor and guns alone not to mention AA guns placement that would put some heavy cruisers to shame would sit it well at T8 but lack of main gun turrets on other side makes her T6
Disagree, it has it's issues like every slower American BB and will suffer when uptiered but it is not a bad ship... 56% WR in her in 79 battles. That conceal lets you bring the blap surprise...
@@VengerDFW I have played her the most in NA server. She has GLARING gunnery issues, she really wants that 30s reload and preferably 45s base turret traverse for more comfortable gunnery and needed DPM increase.
