Dry Ground Burning is een feministisch queer gangster-epos over een vrouwenbende in een favela aan de rand van Brasilia die illegaal afgetapte olie raffineren. De benzine die ze ervan maken verkopen ze door aan 'motoboys'. De film is een opwindende mix van documentaire, 'heist film' en musical met een snufje sciencefiction a la Mad Max: Fury Road.
Dry Ground Burning won meer dan 30 internationale filmprijzen, maar werd nooit uitgebracht in Nederland. Eerder was de film te zien in Eye als onderdeel van IDFA 2022.

Dry Ground Burning is an electric mix of documentary, heist movie, musical and science fiction, in which non-professional actors play versions of themselves.
Dry Ground Burning is a film project by Harvard's Sensory Ethnography Lab and one of the four films chosen by Véréna Paravel and Lucien Castaing-Taylor, whose exhibition Cosmic Realism is currently on display in Eye Filmmuseum. The film has picked up more than 30 awards, but has not been released in the Netherlands. The film previously screened in Eye as part of IDFA 2022.
