CAN DRY ICE GET WET? WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU SWIM WITH DRY ICE?
Today, Carter Sharer and Lizzy Sharer team up with their friends from the Carl and Jinger family to do an epic science experiment with dry ice. Carter and Liz went and bought over 100 pounds of super cold dry ice so they could dump it in the pool as an experiment to see what would happen if dry ice got wet. Carl and Jinger helped put the dry ice in the pool and it started to make the water bubble and boil! The water got so bubbly that it became hard for Carter to swim! technically the water is carbonated its the solid form of carbon dioxide turning into the liquid form cause the temperature to begin carbonation .

The IR thermometer will read the temp of the bottom of the pool, not the water itself. So the water probably really was cooled.

ChiaPet Mia it goes from solid to gas, never goes to liquid. It can only go to liquid in certain conditions, the temperature difference from the air outside and the dry ice is so big that it never goes to liquid

I'm gonna attempt to drop some knowledge on you. You guys thought that putting that much dry ice into the pool would bring the overall temp of the pool down a significant amount, but in reality you would have had a larger change in temp if you had put a similar amount of regular ice in there, even though the ice would have been 40-50 degrees warmer. When dry ice "melts" it's actually sublimating, in other words going straight from solid to gas. This means that when it is in the water, it doesn't disperse into the pool like regular ice, the bubbles rise up to the surface and escape. This means that the pool isn't getting colder at all. However, regular ice, even though it would've been significantly warmer than the dry ice, would've cooled the pool, at least slightly, because the ice is melting into water and mixing with the pool water. EDIT: *Is the water carbonated?* no, that's not at all how that works. Carbonation can only happen under pressure, and no, trying to "taste" the water is a terrible idea.
