Uppukandam is famous in olden days, that too, in the hill station like ooty and kodaikanal, when mutton is available, buy it, add salt and turmeric, chilly powder and dry it in the hot sun and use it for emergency nonvegetarian 😮

It is served in temples of village dieties or in places of kali mariamma etc temples after animals are offered as sacrifice in the name of god for the grant of wishes or just as an offering made to god ... But some temples don't do it as they follow vegetarian diet ... You can search on village dieties of south and I think even in kamakhya temple there is offerings made ...
