I have had it done to my calf for Achilles pain my first time to see how the experience was since I was afraid. I felt great relief after. My PT offered to do it into the tendon and I think I’m ready now after watching you explain the process.

This is the right Approach to Achilles tendonitis with DN, as physician I don't think that needling just muscles trigger point can solve the problem.

Would this work for insertional Achilles tendinopathy?
@CoreElementsTraining
@CoreElementsTraining Год назад
Yes dry needling can help with this and you can needle further towards the insertion than shown in this video 👍

What's you theory behind doing this?

There are several different benefits and effects of needling into muscle tissue and tendons. But essentially when needling into hypertonic muscle or trigger points your aiming to trigger a relaxation effect and in the tendon your aiming to stimulate sterile inflammation and a renewed healing process. This is an interesting paper that looked into the effects of tendon Dry Needling 👉 www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7083985/

I had this done with some electro stimulation and it was pretty painful. Comparable to getting stung by a wasp - very intense itching and burning sensations. Is that normal?

Ideally the current is matched to client tolerance, so that it’s not too painful, but there may be some slight discomfort. The itching is the increase in blood flow to the area, which aid healing, and the burning type sensation is linked nerve stimulation. As healing continues and tension reduces, it should be more comfortable.
