My lakeland drysoon broke after 5 winters. It will heat up, maybe, but then cut off with no warning, so your clothes stay soaked. It was decent while it lasted though, but be prepared for it to break in about 5 years

Just bought the same one and it’s on as we speak so hope it works 🤞🏻 Great video, honest review and you are very easy to listen to-Thanks 👍🏼

Thanks for the feedback - that is kind of you. I hope you find the airer as good as we do. Give me a shout if you need any tips / advice. ATB, Tim.

Why does nobody do a demonstration of a real wash load, not just children’s clothing but towels, bedding jeans, they only ever show baby clothes

Because most people will just use a regular airer & make their peace that it will take a few days to dry out. I think if you have load upon load going through & you need a high/quick turnover of "drying space" then this will speed it up....at a cost (but cheaper than a tumble dryer)

So frustrating, not one review I’ve found shows a ‘normal’ load, always small items. I bought an express dry recently, hoping for great results, but my clothes only dry on the bars, the hanging parts stay just as they would on a non heated airer… I’d love to find a decent one as the concept in theory sounds a good solution to save money in the winter and banish those stale smelling clothes that take days to dry on a standard airer.

@@misstracymarie I have the dry soon and bought it from Lakeland plastic I’ve had it for just over a year and it takes a lot of washing on it. I put it on for the full 12 hours hang my bath sheets all round it and after the 12 hours everything is bone dry. Also have the cover that I sometimes use when I have washing on it, I’ve not used my tumble dryer now for over a year.

Hey Tim, thanks for the vid, very useful! Is it possible to access the temperature controls when the cover is on? Or do you have to set the temp controls then put the cover on afterwards?
@CandidTim

Hi Harry. The controls are quite simple as you can see in the video, and whilst it would be good if the cover had a clear panel where the controls are located, it doesn't sadly. However, you can make out the digital display (if you try hard enough) through the cover, particularly if the room is darker / lighting is low. You can feel the controls through the cover too and do the programming with the cover in place. That said, I generally just unzip the curtain and pull the cover back slightly to reveal the controls - that way, I can be sure I have set it all correctly before walking off. It isn't much of an inconvenience to do that. I have made the mistake of not checking the controls properly before walking off, only to come back a few hours later to realise I hadn't switched the airer on (doh!). Clearly, setting up the programme using touch only risks you making this mistake too, although now you are pre-warned so no excuses! I hope this helps. All the best, Tim.

I have the lakeland dry soon that I bought off QVC. It was a good deal. Honestly I love it and couldn't be without it. I put all my clothes on hangers and put it on overnight with the cover on. The creases drop out providing you give your clothes a good shake while they are wet AND I don't have to iron. Bonus! I live in a tiny little flat with no outdoor space. It's not as effective without the cover on tho. Works well with our dehumidifier too.

We have just bought a dehumidifier as well, which on the face of it, seems to also improve drying time. Dehumidifiers can be a little noisy though when they are on. The other benefit of a dehumidifier, particularly in the winter months, is not waking up in the morning to find condensation all over your windows!

@@SirKelvin I bought one from Aldi and it works a treat. It was less expensive than others but they aren't in stock all the time. It was free delivery, too.

What temperature should it get to, my rails get to 49 degrees but friends say they can't hold their rails as they appear much hotter?

I had similar issue with my heated airer which is why I think when you read the negative reviews, which aren’t many on Amazon it’s because they have purchased a heated airer that has rungs that do not reach the required temperature, so people return it for a refund. Whereas some heated airers have much hotter rungs, and that’s why those airers dry the clothes in the required time.
@CandidTim

I will do a temperature test and report back. I wouldn't want to hold the rails for too long when heated up. They don't burn you. In my view they give out just enough heat to dry your clothes effectively, without consuming too much energy like a radiator or electric convector heater.

I've just done a test using my kitchen food thermometer - it came out bang on 49 degrees. I do agree with your friends that say it appears much hotter, but I can confirm it is not (my food thermometer is very accurate). Hope that helps, Tim.

As per my video, I am really pleased with our airer. I wouldn't be without it, particularly given that our washing machine is never off due to having a young family.

I think most retailers are out of stock at the moment - demand has outstripped supply evidently as people are moving away from tumble dryers due to the running costs.
