Great video, thanks! Wanted to add that many undergarments are great for cold temps above the surface too. I've recently started camping in winter conditions and have found that my heavier undergarments are fantastic mid layers for cold temps - down to -27C!

Mike - another great video. I’m a bit of a mutant at 6’5” 210 lbs (196cm, 96 kilos). Any suggested brands for an undergarment? Most of the ones I’ve checked out assume you have a lot of…girth…if tall or assume nobody is ever taller than 193cm. Thanks.

1. Know how to breath through your mouth and not your nose. Took my class forever to practice mask clearing and not shoot up to the top when they got water in there nose. 2. Dress appropriately. Here in Florida the springs are 73 degrees all year around but when you're sitting on the surface waiting your turn for CESAs or Underwater Nav, it gets cold/hot. We had a cold snap and it was 32 degrees on the surface at Devil's Den.(80+ the day before) I brought a 5mm suit with hood and gloves. The rest of the class had rented 2mm shorties and couldn't wait to get out of the water. 3. Know how a compass works. All of this can be practiced before hand. I already owned a few wetsuits because I enjoyed freediving the springs since I was a kid. I always got cold faster than most so I've adjusted how I dive in certain Temps. I also practiced taking my mask off and putting it back on underwater. Also, I used a compass around my front yard with the kids. (my profession as a pilot had me covered here) You do t need to be certified to do these and I promise it will feel rudimentary if you practice before hand.

#askmark hello Mark. After narrowing my own choice for a base base layer to 4th element's, J2 or xerotherm to compliment my artic (any advice also welcome on this choice), none seemed to be design or mention pee valves. Is there a undersuit designed for this or do I cut a very careful hole? Thanks again
