Great video! Thank you!The only difference I can notice is that the S2000 has a bit more depth-richness in some cases but they are very close-sound similar in most cases. And for the price, it's not worth in my opinion to pay more for the S2000 because there isn't such a huge difference. But overall both of these are excellent!
Thank you so much for the review!!! Oh, I think s1000 sounds crispier. s2000 is giving more balance and staging. If money is not a matter, then go ahead buying s2000, but for me, s1000 is still good enough. The bad news is that s1000 is discontinued and not selling at Amazon anymore.
Edifier discontinued S1000DB to replace by S1000MK2 which is better more detail & brighter in high treble. There’re comparison clip on RU-vid from a Russian guy named Depo196
Thanks for comparing these! I was choosing between these 2, compared side by side and went with s2000 - it was more "airy" and did soundstage better. + better remote + 4 sound profiles, that's like having 4 speakers for different taste. I guess here 2000 is on monitor mode, Dynamic sounds juicier - with better exposed bass and lively treble. You won't be disappointed buying either, both are wonderful speakers, but 2000 is slightly better overall.
I can confirm the Dynamic mode on the S2000 sounds way more exciting than monitor. The S1000 sounds a bit deeper in this comparison but is has only 1 EQ tuning (which is not as flat as monitor) I find S1000 tweeter a little harsh/tinny and not as nuanced as the planar diaphragm tweeter of the S2000
Correct. This comparison was recorded in monitor mode, as I find it much more faithfull to the source. Dynamic sounds more exciting but also brighter and overly bassy. I will create a comparison between those two modes at one point to showcase that.
S2000 seems to have better soundstage, and more depth. I've ordered mine, expecting them soon. Thanks to this channel, helped me a lot buying my current r1855 which I am very happy with, just liked the Edifier sound signature and now (1 year later) I went to the upper model. Keep it up m8.
I have the s2000 and the difference is the s1000 are bi amped and s2000 tri amped meaning 3 amps. the s1000 have a titanium tweeter which gives it a forward sound, the s2000 are more balance, make sure you hook them up via OPTICAL!!! it makes a world of a difference.
I've owned the s2000mk-iii's for about three months now (went to the dealer intending to buy the s3000's and the 2000's just sounded so much tighter and better-controlled, at least to me). I'm still very happy with the sound but their limitations are starting to show and I've had quite a bit of trouble with them -- up to and including a warranty claim. The value proposition is still pretty hard to beat but, if I had it to do over, I'd probably pay a little extra for something with slightly better quality control.
@@adamzilizi7501 The din-connectors for the speaker wire are too heavy, and the gravity of their weight against the connector plates keeps causing one or both speakers to effectively short-out. I'll get two or three really good months out of them, and then one channel is all reedy upper midrange.
@@CinemaDemocratica damn, sorry to hear that, but thanks for getting back to me. I'm lucky that since day 1 I have that cable rolled up and supported, so virtually no weight is resting on the connector. I will keep this in mind for the future, because I'm moving apartments soon. Thanks again!
@@adamzilizi7501 If I had a soldering iron I could fix it in fifteen minutes by replacing the connector, but here in Cambodia it's pretty hopeless to try to find someone who is willing to take that on.
If we already had speakers good enough to tell the difference between the two here, why would we be looking for new speakers? 🤔 I'm listening through $100 computer speakers. 😟
I fully agree. It really depends on the speaker that each one is using to evaluate. But even so, I don't know if I've been influenced by other reviews I've had access to. It seems to me that the treble of the 2000 sounds crystal clear, but perhaps beyond what is necessary for the set, making the sound V-shaped, damaging the midrange, causing a certain imbalance. I'm still deciding, but at the moment the price of the 2000 is double the price of the 1000 at the Edifier store I'm buying from.
I love the sound of the S1000 in this video, the mids and highs are better (50 watt treble instead of 30), it only has less bass (70 watt instead of 100), but you always can buy the T5 subwoofer (70 watt = + 40 watt) later.
Honestly they sound pretty damn close but I think the S2000's slightly edge out the 1000's in a couple areas. I think I'd be perfectly happy with either though.
I have a question concerning these speakers: I have the Possibility to get the s1000 for 250€, whereas i have to add extra 100€ to get the s2000mk2. Is it worth it spending 100€ more or is the difference minimal? Speaker and driver size seems pretty much equal, so i dont think there is a huge difference at high volumes. Maybe you know more about that. Would be glad, if you could give an answer.
Excelente comparativo.
Fala Alexandraz, tudo bem?
😀Edifier S2000MKIII It sounds really good on bluetooth. Too bad they only have Aptx HD. On the phone I have LDAC with triple bitrate compared to Aptx HD. I connected my IFI and FIIO DACs to line 1 RCA. The sound became very good. On the optical and coaxial side, the included dac is great, but far from my dacs, 24 bits compared to 32 bits for IFI and FIIO. After at least 50 hours of work, the loudspeakers start to show what they can do. I was hoping that I wouldn't have to connect any more cables, but if I want quality, I have to connect a truly HI-REZ DAC. I listen to Flac and DSD HI-RES music via usb and bluetooth from the phone. I recommend good quality cables. The ones in the package are identical to those of the cheaper models. I don't understand what 130W means. Power consumed from the network? I have a Marantz line of 2x50w rms and it really makes noise compared to the 2000 mkiii. At the time of the "late one" with the Marantz and Unitra 3-way bass reflex speakers 2x75W, I cracked a window in the room, there was no thermal insulation then. Or these Chinese watts, PMPO as it were, they are not from the physics book, some smaller watts 😀

The synthesizer on the Mortals track sounds more accurate on the S2000, the reverb is present whereas on the S1000 it sounds absent. The guitar on the Metal Head track sounds a bit more harsh on the S1000, sounds smoother on the S2000. The reverb on the male voice on the Return To Wild track comes across much better on the S2000 and you can hear the piano a bit better on the S2000 also. I cant tell which sounds better on the Jazz Con Cajon track, the singers voice is absolutely dreadful and not because of the speakers. Its just a terrible song.😐🤫 The S1000 replicated the acoustic instruments in Bellisimo track better than the S2000 did, they sound a lot more processed on the S2000. In short the S2000 has a more holographic, processed sound that sounds good on a lot of songs , but on the acoustic classical music it sounded artificial. Im not sure which speaker I would choose. I would probably pick the S2000 since I dont listen mainly to classical or acoustic.
Hola. ¿Puedo conectarlos directamente a un CD Player? Tales como: 1) Yamaha CD-S303 $380 US; 2) Denon Receiver RCD-N10 $400 US. 3) Denon RCD-N12 $420. 4) Denon DCD-900NE $500.
The stock dsp preset is Classic for the S2000, but he uses Monitor for his testing. Every time you start the speaker it defaults cu Classic, that is way more neutral, monitor sounds very muffled in the midrange and cuts the highs a lot. S1000 might just have a more linear response in the midrange and highs in the Monitor mode, but that doesn’t say much, i bet they also default to Classic every time you turn them on. S2000 with E1da 9038D dac an also my Fiio M11 pro sound very punchy and controlled at the same time, the integrated dac is quite good, but not on the same level as a dedicate dac.
@@ionescugeorge2003 When you use an external DAC, did you know that S2000 converts the analogue signal back to digital (to apply DSP, digital crossover, digital EQ etc.) thru an integrated ADC? And then (of course), that signal is passed to the very same DAC that you thought you avoided... Whatever difference you think you hear, it's either a self-induced impression or (worst case) some artefact from doubling the DAC-ADC-DAC conversion. The only reason you would use an external DAC (even if you lose some accuracy from all that digital-analog-digital-analog conversion) is if that said external DAC also has some EQ or another type of signal processing that you wouldn't find nor in the original (digital) music source, neither on the speakers.
@@BarbuMateescu i know all about the ADC, and dacs and everything, i’m in this “sport” for over 14 years amd the difference is very easy to hear, it’s not a nuance or something, the transient response is much different, the midrange clarity improved etc. It’s very easy to differentiate even the sound of different DAC’s on them, i even tested Topping D90SE with them and they improved some more on top of my already decent Fiio M11 pro.
@@ionescugeorge2003 so... Your music is *still* passing thru your Edifier's DAC, and you think that adding another DAC before that (and forcing your Edifier speakers to use ADC, and then *still* using their own DAC) is somehow improving your music... Right. Why don't you directly add some hiss and some corrupted digital files? This way you'll hear even more „detail”.
@@BarbuMateescu You 're mixing up a DAC (Digital (to) Analog Converter) with DSP correction which are very different things. If you use the analog/line input of the Edifier, you are actually bypassing it's DAC but there will be DSP correction for EQ/AMP/Driver handeling nevertheless. These are different processes. For example, you can buy a very expensive CD player with a great build in DAC. If you hook it up using optical or digital coax, you will not use the CD player's DAC but of the device you connect it to. If you use the analog/line out of that CD player, you are using the CD players internal DAC. Conclusion, you can connect a better DAC to the analog input of these speakers and yes, DSP (which is something different than a DAC) will to its work but takes place at another, later stage.
Please tell me why does the S2000's SPL line so different from your previous video?(ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DvEBODvCynY.html) Which one is more accurate?

What review...there was a review here? More like a pointless comparison between two speaker-sets that can in no way be appreciated when someone is sitting here listening to this load of shit through laptop speakers....trying to rectify that.
