I have a fully treated purpose built garden mixing studio, approx 4.5 x 3.5m. I have a pair of Kali IN-5's strapped to a Kali WS-6.2 subwoofer giving me a 4-way system for about £1500 and it sounds incredible! 😎
It is hard to judge based on these videos but the IN5 gives a better insight into the transients of the song, this is especially noticeable with the song "Man on Fire". It also sounds a bit more composed compared to LP6, albeit sounding a bit more muffled in the low mids but that may be due to the room characteristics - the IN5 should by all means be a better monitor of the two, objectively speaking. I'm listening through Neumann KH310's.
Do you have songs commonly we listening in flac/wav/dsd to test this speakers. Same music/tracts using in testing of many speakers. No proper voices, electronic musics, very very difficult to decided the quality of the speaker.
So i own the in5's, previously i had the LP6's first wave. A big improvement They are horizontally placed. I use an Adam sub7 subwoofer with them. I also use Sonar Works room callibration. In my configuration i think the subwoofer is much more complentary than it would be with LP6 2nd wave. The punch from the in5 is lovely. I find especcially with that classical orchestra with in5 you easily place every instrument where lp6 isn't. And in5 has much more space for accents where lp6 sounds like already full. For my needs the in5 is far apart from lp6 2nd wave. I'd recommend lp6's for beginners and low budget though! In5 is next level.
in5 sounds muffled, more orderly in the bass zone, since the woofer is smaller, it is logical, but muffled, it does not project. Lp6 sounds more open, the sound is projected, you feel the space, but the bass is a bit uncontrolled, it could be the room, I don't know.
Finally the one Ive been waiting for! Thanks for this DS Listening on AKG K712 headphones: IN-5 definitely better in the bass and low mid region. Tighter and more control there. Everything from mid and down have better separation on IN-5 LP6 sounds overall flatter and due to that I can hear some details in the high end on the LP6 that gets buried in the IN-5 Other than this , the differences are not much to my ears. @DS , which one did you prefer?
Lp6 sounds pleasant but this is not obviously good for mixing. Kali made mm6 based on lp6 meaning it is good sounding all-rounder. A good monitor speaker has to show where the problems are. I would likely prefer lp6 for composing, guitar practice or music listening and in-5 for mixing
I did a shoot out at Gc and they sound the same as in tweeter the bass seems subjective but the noise was lower and makes for a better high end. I am getting a pair and I still own ax7s ,hs5, and Kali will be my 3rd pair
Thank you for the video very helpful. Let's be honest, these are both great studio monitors. 10 years ago the likes of these awesome speakers were just not available for this low money. That said, I think the INI 5's are a better buy, nicer high mids and high end. The high end roll off on the LP6's is lacking and they sound a fraction harsh in comparision. I'd perfer to be mixing on the INI 5's for the day. But can't go wrong with either. The over all size I find a little discouraging especiall if your like me and have little space but super company and super monitors both of them. Me I'd buy the INI 5's just better overall transitions frok Low's to mids. If you need more bass add a sub no big deal.
Putting the speakers on a desk on some foam bases (that's what they look like) don't think it's the best way to listen them. I would use a pair of speakers stands with floor spikes to have better precise bass response and some less mid-low coloration. I know many peoples use monitors directly places on their desk, but you will make us hear more (or less) evident and objective differences if you record your tests on 2 separate stands. M2C. thanks and keep up with the good job!
Yeah, I put my Kali's on 2" foam Pads, then 1" sponge, Dampened nicely, and Kicking ass. V1 here, all cleaned up and are amazing. Tactile, Impactful, OMG imaging and my low register hits 43 HZ clean, no distortion or floor noise. Then it Hits, such a fulfilling thump thats tight and dampened, with authority.
Listening on my neumann kh120 and sennheiser hd650 i dont know what to say. Lots of hard work put there in the channel no doubts kudos but i dont know what is the use to listen to speakers recorded through a mic that then goes to other speakers or headphones, differences and nuances in tonality will be completly different from the reality like recording an hd movie from a tv screen into an iphone camera smh...
why am I listening to this I already ordered the in-5 and don't have the space for the lp-6 anyway thanks as usual I would say the in-5 sound better for most genres I guess I'll know soon I didn't even realize the in-5 were more expensive when I ordered them heh thanks comments not like I have a choice my giant screen ate all my desk space
Seems IN-5 is restrained and recessed as compared to the LP6V2 which seems fuller and forward. But I'm sure IN-5 has more detail and better for mixing and I would mind just getting it for long term, only if it was 1.2 to 1.5 max the price.
Wróciłem do Focali 65. Wczoraj słuchałem LP8 v2 i wg mnie grają lepiej od lp6, niestety skrzynki od tych kali są mega cieniutkie, a szkoda.
Hey man, thank you for your hard work. I need you to try the Razer Nommo Pro since they're on top of my list as well as the Adams A3X. Thank you 1000 if you can arrange that. Bye
@@DSAUDIOreview Yeah I've heard the Nommo as well and they are of course crap given the price tag. But chances are the pro version (500$) could be another planet with the right audio tweaking (they have a software eq) since it's made of different woofers and electronics. There's people with B&W speakers praising them a lot for their price. I would love to hear them.
