A first view of your channel, leaves me asking why load so light, highway loads and all butts forwards. Many years ago, back in mid eighties, I ran my last load and the wife wanted a divorce so I gave it to her.... all eleven trucks, equipment, contracts and all... I loved the hell out of that woman and wasn't going to be near her to see some short ****** sob take my place so headed to alaska with a thousand dollars in my pocket an a beer box of rigging clothes. I got a job first day there an when my rig broke down that day, I got out and fixed the problem.... that did cause a problem, boss said, just who do you think you are under the hood of my trucks? Told him the short version and next thing I know, he grabs my cork shoes and tosses them in the bay! Lets go .. we went to his pick up an he walks into the shop and told his crew there to meet their new shop boss, to roll his own tool chests out an give me the keys. I didn't have to tell the boss as he knew there would be problems with me being new... he hollered to bring such an such truck in an so they ambled out an got it... I figured out what was wrong an was going to fix when he said wait... he hollers at one of the fat guys there to go to wrenching an he admits he doesn't know how. So the boss said to him roll up your gear... an I told the boss no way to make friends.... let me show him how so he knows how an then told the fellow quietly to lose a few pounds as we will be working together an I can't carry him if he can't move around. I found out he had a problem that could not just be fixed by bending the tines on his fork so found things he could do an did that with every one of them.... shortly we had a crew of men working on seventy trucks. I had guys that were all good in different areas an we put over twenty rigs back in service in two months. I had that outfit running at peak in four months... so I went into the shop bosses building an told him "I need a week to get drunk as in indian crawling snake fearing drunk. I would be back the following week. He said no so I rolled my gear up and caught the next plane to town that same day. Pockets full of money an no one to answer to, I did just as I told that boss I would do... Setting there nursing a cup of coffee the next week, thinking to best find a job an a man approached me... Said "Your Morgan"? Yes sir... he says are you done getting drunk? I told him real close, I still have a few thousand in a pocket book... he smiles and said how long do I have to wait... I had one of the bar maids go get my box of clothes an we left then... I did the ninety to more days for about four or more years an then my boy got cancer... I spent a lot of money fighting something no one seems to have answers for. I almost remarried the ex but then came to my senses... I just headed further north to central alaska where I have been now for since ninety six. I opened a little repair shop to keep my hands busy as I still had money. Met another woman who seemed like the real deal... wrong, she heard of me an was looking for a meal ticket. I have stayed single as I just don't seem to be a guy who deserves a woman who won't cheat. In two thousand five, man fell from his roof of his house an I reached out and caught him.... it saved his life for sure but the dumbest thing I have ever done as all the monies left for many surgeries, they fixed the broken neck but my lower back left me on crutches for a while but now I can not walk on even them for more than a couple feet... pain so high that it puts me unconscious. I am seventy three, have no family or other to care about so just watch logging done an wonder why they do it the way they do now. I see much smaller timber, much smaller rigs as I got used to the off highway trucks in the southeast. I did have my own highway rigs but those were truck an log trailer bend in the middle outfits. We always were overweight, over height and just two steps from jail for the loads we packed back then out on the Olympic Peninsula. If it loaded then I would haul it... I guess I was born a little late in life as I was always going full bore after I came home from Nam. I just keep waiting for god to answer the questions of why I couldn't be like other people.
