Private schools in the US are some of the worst places you can send your kids for education tbh, most of them are heavily agenda-driven usually religious.
Excecpt the most prevalent private schools in the US --Catholic schools-- consistently outperform public schools. Private schools in general in the US are viewed as being better than public schools.
For those of you making fun of the US school system, pay attention to the fact that this is Phil, the person who never, ever, EVER listens to any sort of explanation given to him.
Ironically the complain about the controls here is valid, like the other guy experienced at the start. The game shouldn't punish you for clicking outside of the x.
Yeah, I watched him put my own country's flag right on top of it and the game went "no, that's wrong." I figured it might be deliberately trolling, but I guess it's just shitty. Oh, apparently that was the first player. Yeah, those hitboxes suck ass.
yeah, that should be pretty basic, but not to DSP, and then tried to cover his ass by saying he knew it was Spain after he tried to put the UK flag there earlier.
"I don't even know what the United Kingdom is!" Why doesn't that surprise me? "Ireland is one of these." That's f*cking sad... *puts Greece's flag on Finland* WHY AND HOW
Paragon Josh I wouldn't use the words he used, but a couple of things: 1) The commenters cited in this video who think that DSP is representative of Americans are stupider than DSP is. We're talking about a man whose majority of viewership is second-hand by a group of people who consider him a literal clown. Hardly fair, no? 2) Apologizing for someone else is just silly.
2:00 "Match the flags to their corresponding Province, State, or Country? What?" I'm not sure what to make of his reaction. He acts as if matching flags to countries is a difficult concept.
Funny enough he even fails badly at the second part of the geography mini game where you had to match the flag with the us state he actually pauses the game so he can look up a map online to help him. I'm starting to believe who was to blame when Phil and John ended up in Delaware when driving to a con.
Beastking800 Honestly I get a's in school and I wouldn't know state flags or geography in general off the top of my head. ( to be fair to dsp geography is barely taught in u.s public schools so unless you study it in college the average american won't know anything geography wise.)
Unless school has changed in the past 6 years I have to disagree. We started learning geography in 5th grade and that shit was hammered so hard in to us for a couple years. The around 7th grade we began learning to memorize flags and things like country's/state's top imports and whatnot. Then again maybe my school just wasn't complete shit.
"Spain... I knew that." Except he starts by trying to plant the UK flag on it. DSP is the king of erasing or denying any possible evidence of his failures from his mind. "I never equipped that", "The game never told me that" and now this. Holy shit.
@@creativitysubs9935 Nah, it's not even related to the "snapping" mechanic. When he FIRST starts playing, he drags the UK flag onto Spain. I completely forgive DSP for then trying to drag the UK flag onto the UK but missing the snap onto the "pin," but the initial blunder is entirely his own fault and he pretends like he knew it all along.
To be fair, the game seems unnecessarily fickle with how you place the flags. Even the guy in the first video had a problem with it when trying to place the UK
*But he placed the UK flag on the right country first, the game just rejected it because reasons.* No, he didn't. The very first thing Phil does, when the game started was, to take the UK and try to put it on Spain.
Atmogenic OS To Bad they didn't do the English and Scottish Flags rather than the Union Jack. He would have been really screwed. I live in California,so I have Warm and Wet, but I like colder environments, but not wet or too windy.
Jesus Phil, you make us look very bad. I could have easily done most of the planet in this format. *grabs UK and goes straight for Spain* ... FACEPALM.
***** I understand it's completely unrelated in anyway, but if you think about it *logically* snail is slower than a sloth. That's what i tried to say.
luls lee I had the displeasure of being drawn by Phil's DeviantART counterpart, Andrew Dobson, who has an odd thing for drawing more eyebrows than he should and making them fly off my face.
2:15 He put the UK flag on the correct piece of land, but the game didn't give it to him. I'm not saying hes smart, but the game definitely cheated him.
I love that I know all of them except Switzerland, Ukraine and Romania thanks to playing way too much Total War and Europa Universalis. EDIT: OK he fucked UK!? I mean, if you passed even year 10 of high school, you should know where UK, France, Germany, Greece, Spain, Ireland and Italy. Because Spain is obvious, the rest you would have been taught when learning about WW1 and 2, and every idiot knows that the Greeks were east of the Roman Empire, which obviously started in Italy, so you can at least make a rough guess there. And no, I live in Australia, not Europe, where we learn 99% Australian history and when learning WW2, mostly the War of the Pacific, primarily where Australians were OP and won against absurd odds. (Which happened quite a lot)
What amazes me is that all these years later PHIL PLAYED THIS AGAIN AND DID THE EXACT SAME THING. He still failed just as horribly, he even said the same thing "I'm an American" yet when they did the US states he had to pull out a map, in fact he had to pull out a map on all of the geography challenges. He has the memory of a goldfish and the intellect of an amoeba.
In DSPs defence, he hasn't left his house in several decades, that and the mental capacity of a goat don't help lol I doubt he could point on a map where he lives either
"You learn this in elementary" They probably once'd over this in school in my experience, but mostly they seemed to focus on the history and customs of the various nations. I probably would have only been marginally better at this than DSP, which even just thinking of that sentence kind of makes me want to vomit my intestines out...
To add to what you said: the only thing I was expected to learn was the names and locations of every state in the US, and I went to public school in Massachusetts, which is widely regarded as having one of the best school systems in the country. I failed this part on my first try, but unlike Phil, I felt deep, deep shame about it.
johnedwarddowney I did good on this. But I'm also a bit of a geography nerd and I like to look at maps and globes sometimes and I also enjoy reading about stuff going on in the world when I get a chance.
obermegalutschoar And yet the "Good idea"-video made few mistakes in placing it the right way. I think it could be better... but it's nothing game breaking! :p
But they are still just guesses... there are probably many americans who cant name all european countries but anyone should still know where the united kingdom is.....
ITT: people who suck at geography defending people who suck at geography. I'm Canadian. My only problem with this was getting Norway and Sweden backwards. Please stop acting like this is the most obscure trivia this side of Jeopardy. Also cringeworthy is how he didn't figure out it's a bit finicky about putting the flag on the actual X.
If it's not clear from this video, school was apparently a fucking joke when Phil went and he lied about being valedictorian. Kids these days have it much harder.
I don't think he ever realised but what Phil did here is the definition of "WooooW doooood".Years later he finally managed to do justice to one of his infamous catchphrases
"I don't know anything about Europe" DSP living up to that US stereotype beautifully. Although even if it was a world map he'd probably stick the US flag where Israel is or similar ...
We Americans apologize for letting our new creature the dsp for getting access to the Internet. He is quiet challenged with the most simplistic of tasks and we are getting ready to send him to the KWO for treatment. Thank you for your time.
I can understand Americans not knowing Europe, that's a common stereotype, but for fucks sake, how do you not know where the UK is? I'd assume Americans learn about the UK since you know, it was the largest Empire ever and the country America succeeded from.
Not the largest, I believe Alexander the Great and Ganges Khan had larger empires. I could be wrong though. That being said DSP is borderline mentally handicap, I know a lot of my countrymen are lack wits but there are quite a few that do not follow the stereo type. I can only hope DSP doesn't contaminate the gene pool.
Peter Rhea The Macedonian empire is far from the biggest. By land, the British empire was only slightly larger than Mongol empire. The Mongol Empire was the largest contiguous empire, while the British empire was all over the world instead of one large contiguous empire, hence the saying: sun never goes down on the British empire. But by population, the British Empire was way larger than most of the other empires combined.
As an American, I admit I wouldn't get the interior nations on the first shot, but I at least know the western and southern coast and could figure out the rest
The problem with the mini game is that you have to put the flag in the precise spot even if you're a tiny bit off it will count as wrong that's the only thing you can really defend Phil on in this part. You can even see that the player in "good idea" got it counted as wrong even when the flag was in the correct spot.
I'm really shocked he didn't know where the UK was right off the bat. Granted, he would have gotten lucky in the beginning if you didn't have to place the things exactly on the x.
look I know a lot of people suck at geography, but spain and the u.k (especially the u.k) are the most well known places in Europe and their locations are pretty much drilled in since 5TH GRADE. Phil's first choice was to put U.K'S flag on SPAIN, it's like he has never seen a map and if he did he probably only saw the map of North America.
