I love seeing this generation of DTM cars, especially on the Green Hell. Would be great to see them run the full circuit again... assuming it stays open. I also enjoyed watching them catch air at 4:30. Excellent video, great memories, thank you!
@riflebore Races still take place on the Nordschleife, mainly through the VLN endurance series. Peak of the season, even though not part of the VLN season, is the Nürburgring 24h race that usually takes place in mid-June. Take a look at the first laps from 2009 and 2010 here on youtube - they're seriously thriling!
Hi ! This car is currently today running at the VLN-Championchip at the Nordschleife, this is NO oldtimer-race and the old EVO 190 is winning races in his class, you can watch my video´s from the VLN-Races on my channel from 08.04.2012 and 29.09.2012, I love this good old car too, it´s one of my favourites (hear the sound on full throttle at "Schwedenkreuz" at the Nordschleife !)
Hi ! Today I posted a video of DTM 1993 on the Nürburgring Nordschleife from an old Video-Tape, it´s from (old) German Eurosport. In this Video is an onboard Video from Klaus Ludwig on the AMG DTM Mercedes 190 Evo. You have to switch sound on volume 10 because of the poor quality. The old Mercedes 190 is currently running today at the VLN-Championchip at the Nordschleife (look at my other Video, the last one from 29.09.2012 and 04.08.2012 from this races !)
I was first year in intermediate school when this race series took place. So this is what they call the all essential DTM... Some say, this is so much more thrilling than the DTM there is today... And this is even Nurburgring Norsdchleife! I thought racing here of any form has been banned??? I really have no good knowledge with racing history. If this race took place at the Nur that takes about 7 minutes to lap, then how many laps does one full race event happen here?
@TheValKBawz : The VLN series? Interesting... Amazing how the high speed machines of today still continue to race in the Green Hell. I would understand if there's a supercar doing a time attack in Nur... It's so much safer compared to a huge number of race cars competing with steel ballz without very little care for safety in the Green Hell; fast cars racing side-by-side! wow! No, since the DTM restartet. Slightly saver? The Nürburgring GP circuit can't be compared to the green hell! These new circuits are like giant kart tracks, they are flat and not integrated in the countryside. Ant the new cars have nothing in common with the cars you can buy except the name and maybe some very small parts light the taillights or the 4 rings / Mercedes star :-(
So what?? They build 1 Year a good Car and after them you hear nothing again from them. While Mercedes drive here with an Updatet 1992 Cars and Audi and BMW was away, and Opel was not there. When Mercedes and Opel startet 1994 the real fight Alfa just drive behind both of them.
Get your facts right. Alfa was 2nd in 1995 ahead of Opel in both DTM and ITC and in 1994 I think, too. In 1996 Alfa was 2nd ahead of Mercedes. So Alfa never won the championship again but were always contenders.
