This man is a true legend in the breed. I visited his kennel as a teenager a few times. This was what I consider The Renaissance period of the breed. Leclerc, Koura, Osgood, Dunnington shaped The Modern day Performance AB regardless of who coined the term. All Northeast Dogmen & all integral to what is mostly regarded as a Southern dog and it's history. Neil Albert is another one, what he did with Odin in FR is remarkable and inspired many in the breed to succeed in various dog sports. Keith O Sullivan gave more to that breeds development in sports, obedience, protection than anyone I can think of. The SWK protection tournaments were and still are second to none and there hasn't even been one in over a decade. Great stuff.... JF.
The dogs in this video looked much more functional than those in some video's I've seen. Makes me want an American Bull Dog. But I'm gonna have to hold off on that till I get moved out of this Apartment.
If you font know who's this man is his name is Steve Leclerec arguable one of the most influential breeders in the modern era of the breed. His blood stands behind screaming Eagle, Kings ranch kennels, leatherbecks kennels bloodlines.
Nice dogs,one of the best all round breeds imo the Scott type is the best of the a.bulldogs but that's just because it's my preference no disrespect for other blood lines,
@@NGrandk9 I have experienced that Johnsons (flat faced, undershot, wide front shoulders and short spine length) lack the ability in bite work and stamina, agility. And the narrator of the video explained how those qualities impact performance. I have seen Johnson types put to the test and found them wanting indeed. It is my experience that they make good dogs to protect your yard. They will ward off a tweeker / thug. Lastly, I have seen one get whipped on by a big male coyote as well. That short muzzle doesn't allow them to get that good hold quickly. And lets face it a wolf, a coyote, or a fox has the muzzle nature intended and that was developed over millennia to be efficient and damaging to prey. We shot the 45 pound coyote that put a hurting on the 100 pound intact Johnson male. On the other hand that same Johnson male tore a burglar a new backside, the perpetrator required an ambulance ride. However the humans were on the scene quickly enough to not exceed the dogs stamina.
Depends on the bloodlines you're taking about. Most scott dogs thses days are very waterd down dogs with poor nerves. The standard is far superior in hybrid type bulldogs then in scott. Alan scott has largley become a pedlar.
@@meirionnyddroberts9981 Have you actually ever witnessed a Johnson bulldog working? I have watched them get destroyed on hunts for pigs. I have watched them collapse from exhaustion on hunts. I have seen Johnson bulldogs get their ass handed to them by male coyotes. You either have the Scott, Painter Heinz type dogs Or you have the Johnson dogs. We are all entitled to our opinion and I can see that you have yours. However I have never actually experienced which is beyond opinion; a Johnson dog that had any kind of work ability. And I have never known a Scott dog to have poorer nerve. And water down with what?
@@Thetailofthetrident I've never been hog hunting however I've worked ambull in protection numerous times as a decoy and as a owner. I don't like the Johnson type persnolly. The Scott types are inconsistent to say the least in a ability, charcter, nerve. I'm not saying there aren't good ones out there but I'm sure there a few unicorn dogs out there. The hybrid types are superior. Look at krk big Bruno, as a example of that.
I think he meant early dogs bred by John D., ..........John D added size to his line later down the road by cross breeding with a St. Bernard and another breed or two
