In this 7th part of my dual 1224 repair video, I'm fixing the tonearm lift mechanism. I show the parts and at the end I'll come with a theory about why it was failing. I think it has something to do with the stiffness of the slide rail, especially it's cantilver ratio. The slide rail is essentially a double sided cantilver. Imagine a swiming pool diving board, but in this case it's supported in the middle. The long part flexes easily, but the short section is quite stiff, due to it's short span. I wonder if it is possible to adjust the support position.
