A fiberglass pen would work well cleaning the headshell contacts too, and is less invasive than harsher methods. They are cheap on eBay/AliExpress and are handy for many situations. Thanks for sharing.
Nice video. sm840......double time. "The bumblebee" is a reliable fix. The 50hz / 60hz issue and was never fixed under recall. I won't buy a turntable if it lacks pitch control. I prefer q lock. If it spins backwards the capacitors require replacement. Use new x rated safety caps on the pcb on the later models. Mr clean magic eraser or even better metal polish makes the headshell contacts look new.
Interesting. My Dual 502, original owner bought in the mid 70s, came with the Shure M95ED cartridge. I've never, knock on wood, had that problem with the motor spinning too fast.
Off topic, Found a pioneer PL 400 for sale locally. Any opinions on this model? Found you after getting a Technics SL-D202 and came across your video on it. It plays great. Now i think i have the turntable bug.
Be careful man....if you are not careful you'll wake up with 30 of them. PL 400 is a fine table.....check the rubber feet.....they probably need replacing or will soon. The sub-chassis will sink and the platter will rub on the chassis and cause huge issues. You can get new ones or just add some vinyl tape to reinforce the rubbers.....im sure there are other methods. Very common issue.
@@Poppinwheeeeellllllieeeeez Thanks for the headsup. The TT was in rough shape. But mostly it was the hanging down of the back right corner where the tonearm is attatched. Nowhere near level with the rest of the top surface. I could raise it up level by reaching underneath. I am sure that back foot was rotted out.
