I have once again received another sample of a new product for Dual-Lite! This new product is the EVCHL high lumen exit sign and emergency light combination unit. In this video, I review the inner and outer workings as well as all of the features and benefits it offers. Thank you to both Dual-Lite and Current Lighting for giving me this opportunity yet again!

Imagine how amazing it would be if you could put both of the lamp heads on the top of the exit sign. Because as we all know when the emergency lights is on the top of the exit sign it just looks retro. It wouldn't be that hard for dual Lite to do that either maybe they could do that in the future

While I do agree it would look nice, the emergency light head adjustments would become limited because in that position they cannot tilt down.

Thanks! This room isn’t at my house, but in another location that I have access to where I can temporarily install units to demonstrate them.

Great video! It's pretty neat to see the changes made from pre-production (my EVCHL) vs. yours. The quick connects for the optics is definitely the biggest change, and it's a great feature. If you have to move an optic, it's a major time saver to only have to actuate a lever to connect it. It also eliminates the possibility of damage to the sign by not having to connect/disconnect directly from the board. I am curious about something with the quick connects: does Spectron show a lamp fault if they're somehow connected out of phase? I'd expect it would. Good catch on the covers the optics snap into, as well. I just stepped out into the garage to see if my black housing unit has the same plastic flex issue that I missed during my initial look, and it doesn't. The optics on mine also seem to stay pretty firm in place. Build-wise, it feels just as solid as anything built on the HCX platform always has. There's some heft to it, which is rare on a thermoplastic sign. The circuitry also killed it during the extreme heat in the summer and the extreme cold we had at the end of December. It's been an impressive unit so far. I look forward to the day there's a version of the EVCHL that can run both onboard optics and remotes at the same time. Nobody else has a unit that delivers 1100+ onboard lumens with the possibility of 650+ remote lumens plus standard self-diagnostics. (Lithonia's LHQM-LP06VS still doesn't have SD or black housing as an option after nearly five years on the market.) When Dual-Lite releases that version of the EVCHL, it's going to be an even better choice than it already is!

Thank you! Yep, I really love the quick connections for the lamp heads. I saw the pre-production models were permanently soldered on the board. And good question regarding if Spectron would catch if the polarity was reversed on the lamps; that would be something worth testing. Thinking back on it, I think a nice upgrade would be having small polarized plugs for the lamps to eliminate the chance of incorrect connections. Plus it can make the connections even faster! Interesting to also hear your early model’s optic snaps are more durable compared to mine. Stupid question but could this have anything to do with housing color? It seems odd that the test models would not have the flexing issue while the final models would. But it is very nice that the rest of the sign is durable like the HCX. And yes, I hope to eventually see the EVCHL have the capacity to run both onboard and remote heads. I’d figure this would require a higher capacity battery or an additional battery. Thank you for your comment!
