I'm back, with another Dual Pedal Demo. Full disclosure- I've never owned a DM-2 or a DM-3. I've never owned a Deluxe Memory Man. After playing the Brig, I'm starting to realize just how much I missed out on.
Let me add that the Brig and the Cloudburst really complement each other. They both have this ethereal quality-very clean, deep and positively beautiful.
---|
For this series, I'm not focused on making an amazing song or anything like that (obviously!)-I'm keeping the music fairly simple so you can hear what the pedals do and how the interact.
You might hear some weird noises, some resonances and some clicks. I'm keeping in the good and the bad so you can hear what the pedal truly does. Minimal processing!
For these videos, I'm going to leave time stamps at moments when I think the pedals do something particularly noteworthy. I plan to do a series of these videos, so please let me know what you think in the comments.

You know - you are just playing with those two for 9 minutes with just one chord progression and it could make a soundtrack to some cinema masterpiece - very nice, incredible atmospheres going on man! :)

Thanks so much! Yeah, I'm really impressed with how these two pedals interact... their voicings sound quite complementary to me.

two beautiful pedals and a very good demo 👌👋👋 I wonder if/when Strymon will come around the corner with the "CAP" 😉

Thank you! Honestly, my dream pedal is a dedicated El Capistan Looper pedal. If they could replicate that looper in this form factor, I’d be so happy.

Really nice demo. I have the vintage versions of the DMM and DM2 that I run together. I just replaced them with the Brig, and honestly like it better. Really interested in the Cloudburst as well.

I've been really curious about how an owner of a DMM and DM2/DM3 would like the Brig- I sadly never owned any of those pedals, and now I deeply regret it. It's great to hear the Brig holds up to them. I have to say, the Brig just sat nicely with the Cloudburst instantly, it makes me think Strymon specifically voiced them to sound pleasing together. I'm really curious what they are going to come out with next. Thanks for checking out the video!

@@AaronRusch The Brig encapsulates the best of them both without the weird quirks and allows presets (i did get the multiplus switcher). The only thing I have lost (minor loss), is the preamp in the DMM that with with blend all the way down really makes the guitar signal better to my ears (but a pain in the ass to bend down and turn back up for delay); and a particular multi-head effect that I can get from stacking the two that results in a rhythmic and increasing speed to the repeats that the golden ratio doesn't do on the Brig. But again, minor loss, as no one else can arguably hear these things but the owner of the pedals lol.

@@craiger2399 That is great insight, thank you for sharing that. I'm actually a little surprised Strymon didn't try to add that DMM pre-amp boost as an option in the Brig... that would have been a great feature! Although I'd imagine EHX would not like them doing so :)

Fantastic demo! I’m curious how the noise levels are on these pedals in terms of white noise / hiss? Thanks!
@AaronRusch
@AaronRusch 6 месяцев назад
I get no discernable white noise or hiss from either of these pedals. they are very quiet :) Thanks for watching!

Súper noob question here. What's the order of the pedals if you are looping a guitar part and making changes to It after you have the loop, like in this video. You put these two pedals after the looper?
@AaronRusch
@AaronRusch 2 месяца назад
Hello! Great question... my pedal chain for this video is Guitar->(I probably used a bit of overdrive here)->Chase Bliss Blooper-> Brig -> Cloudburst -> Iridium, and then ran this into my DAW. Thanks for watching!

Bonjour. Exelente video.
@AaronRusch
@AaronRusch 11 месяцев назад
Bonjour Patrick!

Hi Aaron, Is the Brig going into the Cloudburst? Brig>Cloudburst... Sounds great. I just got my Brig last night. I already had the Cloudburst. Looking forward to playing with it. I also have the Andy Timmons Halo. Would it be crazy to try all three at once?
@AaronRusch
@AaronRusch Год назад
Hi Brian, the Brig is going into the Cloudburst in the entire video (sorry about that, I don't think I communicated that very well in the video!) I love the idea of trying all three at once, I think you could get some beautiful textures out of that, especially if you set one of the delays to be really dark and gritty and the other to be a bit brighter. I always wanted to try the Halo delay, Rabea's demo of it really impressed me. I hope you enjoy the Brig as much as I do!

@@AaronRusch Hi Aaron Thanks for The kind reply. I did setup my Brig a little while ago this morning and sure enough it does sound great and with the Halo it is amazing too! I only had about 15 minutes to work with it so far but you just can’t hardly do anything wrong with it. I play at church so that ambient sound mildly done is what I like.
@AaronRusch
@AaronRusch Год назад
@@BrianVallotton I agree, that pedal just sounds great at almost every setting, I'm really impressed with it. I'll have to start mixing it with other delays today (wish I had a Halo to try that combo)!
@joshbabbitt9243
@joshbabbitt9243 Год назад
@BrianVallotton how are you liking the Halo to the Brig? I've been looking at some more stand-alone delays, as of late. Those two have been interesting for sure. Also, the Vongon delay, the Sending V2, and a few other spark my interests, lol.
@BrianVallotton
@BrianVallotton Год назад
@@joshbabbitt9243 Hi Josh, I played it at church yesterday. I had both pedals on with my Keeley Halo too! I keep the settings pretty mild overall with just a touch of the MP position on the Cloudburst for a bit of the ensemble effect. Not like a pad sound but when you hit the strings you get a bit of the ensemble for a second or two. We had two other electrics so I focused on not over playing. I thought that the Brig and the Halo would be too much, but they are not. Two totally different sounds. I leave the Halo on the stock Halo setting. I really like Strymon and how they do things! Fun stuff!
@onethousandtwonortheast8848
I’m starting to realize a lot of these pedals make great sounds, but for the working musician, what attributes contribute to the work? If you’re on a gig as the soloist or in a duo or trio or larger situation, how would you apply these? I think, covering a song, or maybe a portion of a song would help, people like me who make money making music in live scenarios. Appreciate the value you see in these products.
@AaronRusch
@AaronRusch 11 месяцев назад
You make a great point. For these Dual Pedal Demos, I normally don't worry about using the pedals in a way that would work well in a normal band situation (although I think a soloist could certainly go extreme with them). These videos are more about seeing what kind of chaos I can generate in a (hopefully) musical and pleasing manner. My normal demos might be better at answering these concerns... at least I hope I've been doing that. Normally, I make my "normal" demos with the mindset of "What would I want to know about the pedal if I didn't own it?" I'm working on a full demo of the Brig that should be out next week, and I'm definitely going to keep what you said in mind as I film it. I love what you said in your comment... I really want the videos to help people get the sounds they want in whatever music realm they are working in. Thanks for checking out the video :)
