Duane Eddy is sadly underrated. More people need to listen to him and should be just as revered as the other rock and roll legends. It’s sad that it’s really only him and Jerry Lee Lewis left

My late father gave me the joy of this music. It was the music of his youth not mine as I am “only ” 46. The music of the 50s and 60s was absolutely the best ever. My dad would have loved this as I do. The other thing I love about old time music artists like Duane Eddy is how humble and gracious they are despite how good they are and how much in reverence they are held by everyone. They just let their talent and legacy speak for itself.

I made a tape with Duane Eddy's "40 miles of Bad Road", I took it along with me when we went to visit my brother who lived out in the Oregon High Desert. When we got to the road to his place, the song started to play, my Mom commented on how appropriate it was for the drive, the road was not 40 miles long but it was long enough and as rough as a corn cob. Rebel Rouser is on my top 25 list of favorite songs. Just thought that I would share a good memory, a Mother and Daughter driving thru the desert listening to good music. Looking for that song to put in my collection of RU-vid music videos.

In 1962 / 1963 I was 15 or 16 and on one Friday after school (8th grade) I went to a local movie theatre where the was a rock and roll concert of 5 or 6 performers; Duane Eddy being one of them. I saw some people outside one of the theatre's exit doors. Shortly after I got there Duane Eddy pulled up alongside the curb in a stationwagon. He unloaded his equipment into the theatre. When he came out I asked him for his autograph and he said that I could ride with him to park his car, give me his autograph, and walk to the theatre with him. It's a great memory to carry around with me through all these years; I'll soon be 75. I wish I could tell him this story. -- Laurence H. of Del Rio, Texas
