Duare Fortress, Makarska Riviera - Croatia Beautiful Places 

Fortress Zadvarje (Duare in Italian) was probably built around 16th century and represents the gates of the river Cetina towards the coastal area. Turks built the fortress over the remains of the older fortress in the 16th century. Venetians conquer it three times from Turks in the 17th century, when fortress finally falls in 1684. Fortress is located in place called Zadvarje near beautiful waterfall Gubavica. Entrance free of charge.
