Watch how Fiji shattered NZ 7s Team a historic 44-0 win.... They stunned the world by handing over New Zealand their heaviest defeat in the Games History
Game of the century? Sure, at that point the century was only 13 years old, but there were far better games even in those 13 years, mate. Great performance by Fiji and a terrible one by NZ is the only way to describe it. If you wanna watch a great Fiji performance, go watch any of their wins in the early 1990s. The one in the final in 1992 especially was outstanding because it was played in a storm and on a waterlogged pitch, but the Serevi, Rasari etc played as though it was a sunny day. Probably the best 7s performance I've ever seen -- of any century, for sure
@@ric5403 you're spot on...theres always a best in the world at any given sport...usain bolt is the goat of sprinting...MJ is the goat of basketball...Fiji are the goats of 7s
Damn just realised scott curry was playing in this whitewash...he just captained NZ to their silver in the Tokyo Olympics losing to Fiji in the gold medal final...feel kinda bad for the guy...Y'all did well Scott, keep your head up and come back better...love from Fiji 😁👍🏾
Willie Lose, get your facts right, Fiji won the Dubai 7's Rugby in 1996, Captained by Serevi. Beat South Africa in the Cup Finals. Only Tonga is yet to win a Tournament.
It seems that this team " Fiji is very inconsistent".They scored many tries in recent Hk Sevens (2014) in pool games but what happened after that ? Got tired, flattened out? It's the winning that counts, not how much a team scores. When it comes to this Sevens game-its undeniable that this NZ team has taken over as "favourites" given this Seven's Series overall record, since this tournament started. There are more than handful of Seven's team now that can win any of these Sevens tournament.Perhaps this games minutes should be increased to 10 minutes a side.Afterall, this games gone international now and it will add lot more future excitement.
OK Apvatar3000 what about this. Share your thoughts on what i discuss below. Fiji sevens does not have enough money to buy all training machine and other things compare to NZ and other big country like Australia, South Africa, England. Fiji is a very tiny country fighting against the big nation. When take us to the world map Fiji is just a small dot. NZ have everything from head to toes. Maybe that cost Fiji is not very consistent. Only things that make Fiji sevens team winning most of the time is that they have abundance of good player but the problem is that they are not develop in rugby compare to NZ. Only skills make them wear white jersey. I can say they don't have enough money bought all things. ''Only what they has they use it''. Just imagine what about if Fiji Sevens team has all the training machine and other training stuff as what other nation has. I think it will be a difference story.
I had ended this conversation a while back but I suppose the recent loss to NZ-yet again has raised same points to my initial observations of this sevens rugby sports. I like to refer to wikipedia for informations on subjects I don't know much about. This tiny nation has been one of the longest rugby playing sports in the world. It comes down to how this particular sports was managed and management of any thing be it a business or " personal life issues" is about having long term plans and carrying out this plans on step by step basis. From what I read about this sevens game-NZ a a decade or so ago-was not as good as team in this format but they invested heavily and therefore today are getting rewarded for it. It is also worth noting that few prominent Fiji ex players have helped NZ improve vastly. I am not much of a sports fan of any game but this particular sports seemed interesting so I shared some "neutral opinions of mine." After the most recent NZ win- I wonder though-if these NZ team has been using some very "advanced body enhancing supplement " to give them that extra edgy , that allows them to win eventually the tournament. I wonder if IRB carries out very strict doping and supplement tests for sevens rugby players at every tournament ? I say this since NZ just finds a way to win. It reminds me of Lance Armstrong, that cyclist who won 7 cycling titles and not a single sports person or entire world ever suspected him of using "undetectable body supplement." As we know now-he was always using this "supplement until he got caught." I am just "speculating as this could be the case with constant NZ wins." Something that IRB should seriously consider -just to make sure-every tournament is won fairly.
Apvatar3000 Not at all. It is simply down to the fact that Sir Titch is probably the greatest coach of ANY sports team of ALL TIME. You need look no further than the list of players who have gone on to achieve great things after coming through the sevens program with Sir Titch: Jonah Lomu, Christian Cullen, Julian Savea, Charles Piutau, Ben Smith, Israel Dagg, Cory Jane and Liam Messam to name a few. He drills the fitness into them to an extreme level, this is not the case with Fiji where it is simply a fun, recreational sport and hence fitness levels aren't as high but passion and guile certainly makes up for that as seen in this game. Depth and willingness to play for the team are what make the AB sevens so successful. Drug testing is regular and would have been picked up if it was the case; and if it was found it would be on an individual level, not a team level. The money in the game in NZ is a clear advantage as the stats game is helpful as are the good facilities but it is not comparable to the influence of a good coach coupled with incredible fitness, depth and passion of the players.
Avatar 3000, whose the World Series Winners now!!!,, with all your factual and statistical comments you cannot foresee this????,,,,Must be that being inconsistent wins you the titles😪😪😪
All credit to ben rayan n his band of brothers, the way they played in this particular match i dont think any team past present or future would have been able 2 beat them...so dont take it 2 hard all u all blacks fans.....hahahaha..?GO FIJI GO.
Lopaaione T,i guess you must be Samoan...eh matey....i think you got your wiring allcrossed up eh,you should be cheering for Samoa,NZ Maori and Whites.....
NZ does the same score against this team in 15 a side rugby. And so does few other teams who are much better than Fiji on 15 a side rugby. Dubai is very hot place and can render most " fit individuals" to exhaustion. This is what happened.Keeping things in perspective is fair. Most rugby seven's nation teams have improved very well and it's any one's "game night" on any given rugby seven's tournament.
Your way of response isn't very healthy in the long run for you and others alike. what is fact is fact, what is truth is the truth, in every situation where it applies.Be it human sports or in any human life situations.Awareness and acceptance of truth will set your free without bitterness in human life.It will take time to get there.I do hope they win the upcoming HK sevens though-I have followed this tournament for a long time on earth.
"Losers" always feel sour and you can sense their bitterness outside, as is your case ( and others alike). Reading up on Fiji's history on wikipedia, unfortunately only points to this inherent nature of your "country's leaders, to the present one in charge." Losers cannot accept fair defeat in any field. Besides-are you are too imbecile to realise that "Internet" isn't under control of you or anyone else-it is a open field of freedom of expression-uncensored from dictators and generally-"losers" who can't face the truth. You are not alone in your way of "living life", there are many individuals like you on this planet and hence the misery of few casts a larger misery on this world.'Be humble in your victory.' If you are a believer in any "God", then you certainly haven't a thing in your entire life and others that continue to think, talk, engage in this world, although you don't have to be believer in any "God." I can accept that I am a "loser" but who are you really ?
Truth be told the Black sevens got a hiding in this game and its a part of the game they don't normally attach to their illustrious win/lose record but game of the century? Come on mate take your blinkers of and witness the game for what it was. A game of the century is played between 2 strong teams where the winner pulls it out in the dying minute , like the Bokks and the All Blacks 2010, Wallabies vs All Blacks 2000, All Blacks vs Ireland 2013 or the All Blacks vs wallabies 2014.
Really?? @ LT, I think its you who need to take whatever pathetic ''blinkers'' you got and just enjoy the game, NZ is a great team and this is just not a good day for them, Fiji played well and they stuck with their game plan which was just better than NZ's on this day. NZ will come back fighting i believe but for this day they were beaten well and good by a well disciplined Fijian team,so stop!!! your moaning in trying to rationalize this big lose to a great team and appreciate both great teams. This Is, for your info, THE GREATEST GAME OF THE CENTURY, PERIOD!!!!!!!
Kaiviti botoboto You like listening to your own echo mate? Your childish babbling shows your real age....hmmmmm , about 5 year old is about right ....game of the century ha,ha,ha,ha!!!!!! good one mate.
Lopaaione T Mate, i think you're the one who needs his eyes checked. You say "game of the century is played between 2 strong teams"...Guess what, this is SEVENS and both Fiji and New Zealand are strong teams. This is the game of the century. Tell me, have you ever heard of New Zealand RUGBY Team that lost 44 to 0?
First try should not have been awarded for two reasons. First reason is that he was offside and the second reason was that he came from the side of the ruck and not the correct way from the end of the ruck.
This is why New Zealand All Blacks recruiting Fijians to represent them in rugby. Shame that these lazy NZ rugby people sitting on the side line admiring.
