We went to Dubai twice for our 2017-2018 westpac deployment. Dubai is nice, but passable once you been there(no offense to the people who live there. Now Singapore on the other hand... A place worth visiting.

Let me put it this way, when girls/women walk half naked openly in front of guys and if a guy looks at her, then society may call him a pervert but I really think its on her rather than the guy. Yeah but at the same time I feel who am I to tell women how to dress , everybody has the human right to dress whatever way he/she wants . Nevertheless I think dignified women should prefer to dress decently in public but at home or hotel or inside a room they can dress whatever way she feels comfortable. Regarding Dubai , in any Arab country and Israel women should be careful cuz fanatics can give them trouble over there.

I lived in Riyadh Saudi Arabia for four years and have visited the souks and malls there. The people enjoy gathering in the malls like Americans used to years ago. I have also been to the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul and it is basically a huge ancient mall. The culture in the Middle East seems to promote large gatherings of people like America used to. America is changing and not for the better. People are becoming more isolated and lazy. I'm as guilty as everyone else since I buy most of my technical goods online and don't want to waste time going to the store when I can shop sitting in front of my computer.

I agree that technology has created lonely people. When I go to lunch with the guys from work I always check to see who reaches for their smartphone first. One guy, in particular, will use his phone for the entire lunch. I'm afraid this dependence on mobile technology will be our demise both socially and emotionally. DesertScorpionKSA I lived in Riyadh for over 20 years. There was not that much for women to do there so the mall was and still is very popular. In the 90s there was virtually nothing to do except shop and go to a restaurant which included being harassed by the metowah even being told to go home and eat. We would be totally closed off from view by either curtains or screens. There was very little for women other than a bazaar every now and then. There was only 3 small malls in the 90s and 2 large grocery stores. Of course now there are huge malls and department stores....even cinemas now. Now you can eat and shop in peace as the metowah no longer have the power to verbally and physically abuse the westerners. Still the malls are very popular as it is a place the women can go to shop, meet friends for coffee or lunch.
