Dubai's Princess Latifa: "I'm a hostage"

BBC Panorama has obtained secret video messages showing the daughter of Dubai’s ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum imprisoned against her will.
Princess Latifa, 35, fled by boat in 2018 and planned to seek asylum in the United States. She says it was intercepted by commandos before she was tranquillised and flown back to Dubai.
Footage shows Princess Latifa saying she has been "a hostage" in "solitary confinement" for over a year "with no access to medical help".
The governments of Dubai and UAE have not responded to requests for comment from the BBC. They have always said Latifa is safe in the loving care of her family.

My heart is crying for her. Her only fault is being born in such a place and with a high IQ. She used to be so athletic. Can't understand how a father can be so bad

Many middle eastern fathers are terrible. Mine had me drugged and kidnapped and locked up for over 13 months. That wasn't the only time but it was the worst. He had four wives two we didn't even know about. A lot of parallels.

I’ve never seen the footage before. I think it is new and that she has been kept hostage against her will ever since they brought her back after the most recent attempted escape.

This is a disgrace to the United States. The UAE and India had no legal right to board a US flagged civilian vessel. All passengers and crew on board that US flag civilian vessel had every reason to feel completely safe on that boat in international waters. I really hope whoever gave permission to India and the UAE to board that US flagged civilian vessel is watching this! Because they should be hanging their head in shame. This happened under Mattis watch who has lucrative, personal business ties with the UAE. It’s a shame.

I’ve been praying for her and following this case since the day I found out she was kidnapped and that was 3 years ago! I cannot believe she’s still being held against her will, even though all of these political figures know what her fathers doing! It makes me soooo sick! I truly hope the UN intervenes and finally does something to help Latifa and Shamsa! Shamsa was kidnapped in LONDON for God’s sake! In Dubai the law's are never in favour of women whether royal or not they have no liberties that us western and European women enjoy. The Dubai facade is that all is well all swept under the gold carpet.

No country will risk their relationship with Dubai for one woman, sadly. I'm also afraid she pays hell for this video. I cant imagine a scenario where she gets out.
