Long before motorways were thought of my dad had a Morris traveller and we would often head off from Northern Ireland and travel to Dublin visa swords and go round by the airport it had a searchlight pointing up to the heavens and a rotating red and green light on the airport roof , I always as a child and teenager loved planes so if we where near an airport dad would have to make a detour he didn't mind as it gave him an excuse to get a mug of tea and in Ireland in those days it was a proper mug of tea lovely and strong I think it was Barrie's but up north it was nambarrie,oh what happier days and the sun always shone
Depends on your age. My fond memories are the late 1960s and 1970s. There were still lots of piston and turboprop airliners in use at the time and there was great variety. The one negative thing though was how quiet Dublin AIrport was compared to now.
Great memories, L-1011, DC8-63, Electra, BAC-111, classic 737s, and of course the Tupolev fleet. Many of these no longer fly I'm sure. Superb video, thanks.
Fabulous, I used to do a bit of hill walking down at the back of Maulin and Djouce mountain and the Lockheed Electra featured regularly flew over head with it's smokey engines, lovely sounds.
so much variety of planes don't really see that anymore. I used to love seeing the 747 landing from Virgin Atlantic and Singapore Airlines in the 90s when I was growing up.

Dublin seems so boring nowadays. As much as I love airbus and Boeing aircraft, they grow tiresome quite quickly in comparison to these planes. Great vid! Keep the Irish ones coming!
