Did this trip last year thanks to my beautiful daughter who sent me first class. As an elderly (78) woman it was such an easy way to travel, comfortable, clean and altogether a great service for quite a reasonable price.

I did not see any customs though Ireland and UK are different countries. We have an MP from Kolkata Derreck O brien who is Irish.
@travelbyplanestrainsandcruise
Well yes we do travel from the Republic of Ireland to Northern Ireland which is considered part of the United Kingdom which is a long historical story. Also yes there is no customs as the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland have a agreement after Brexit and EU Law of the right of free movement of people and goods which again is a long story. Thanks for your comments ☘️

All In all it’s a very good service in either class but of course First class is so much more comfortable but at a price. Good to see catering back on again The Enterprise which the train is named used to go into Great Victoria street station which is more central than lanyan place but lots of work is going on at G.V. Station so it may return there again. If you look at a modern map of railways in Ireland you will see a huge swathe of the country not served by a railway this happened after the Benson report shut the “Derry Line” There is talk that the line may reopen again but not likely in our lifetimes but it will, so you could travel if once it’s restored from say Dublin to Enniskillen or parts of Co Donegal. But it will require compulsory purchase etc and with the north’s useless politicians who have as much interest in railways as I have in potato farming it’s going to take an awful lot of persuading. Of course with the present emphasis on climate change as in the north we actually have a climate committee which is laughable but I suppose it keeps them busy away from doing anything useful. But to take cars off the road you must provide a fast comfortable journey for a reasonably priced fare and to take lorries off the road you have to provide fast connections with ships etc so it’s gonna be a long time before their one brain cell realises the advantages of rail

Last time I took that trip had to get a bus at Dundalk to Portadown because of a device on the line and had to come back by bus got diverted way off track into south down as there were landmines along the main route...plus the train from Portadiwn to Belfast was full of drunk loyalists....never again.

Thanks for the video. My husband and I are considering booking a day trip to Dublin from Belfast when we are in Northern Ireland in January. Would you say 1st is worth it? I know you used to get complimentary beverages on boarding before COVID. Are the chief benefits less crowded carriage and better seat space? Price wise, it’s decent. Cheaper than standard class on GB for a journey of the same length.

Thank you for your comments.100% worth the extra price, way more extra leg room and the seats are way more conformable, and you have the choice of a meal or alcoholic beverage if you so wish, delivered to your seat and better air-con/heating in first class.Having travelled in standard class a lot also this can get crowed so much so people are left standing and the carriage gets stuffy and cramped.So yes I can 100% stand by my recommending First class.I hope you enjoy your journey and the magnificent views ☘
