I was 19 in '94 when the 916 came out and I knew absolutely that the 916 was my dream bike and I would have one as soon as I could manage. It took me awhile, nine years to be precise, but in that time with the racing success you spoke of and the addition of a few more cubes and those three magical letters, my love for Tamburini's masterpiece grew and grew. Like you it is the bike of my life, plain and simple. I've owned a 996 since '03. I'm on my second, it's had the engine built as much as I can with lightened/balanced everything inside, SPS cams, hi comp pistons, Akro 45/60 mm exhaust, etc, etc. Knocked 70 lbs off the stock wet weight down to 395 lbs with half a tank of fuel. I absolutely love the thing and will own it until I can't ride a motorcycle. As ever, love the content. Especially when it's Italian exotica. Cheers
Many Many years ago i bought a cd with Ducati sounds. It`s called - Sounds of Ducati. I am really proud of it. Great party music 😅 Today my Ducati is the Multistrada 1000 DS. Aircooled 2 valves and dry clutch and with Miw exhaust. Im addicted 😂 Thanks a lot for your updating series 😎
Oh, you and i are roughly the same age. I've met king Carl a few times, randomly too, whilst out on bike rides around Lancashire. I love the walk around at the end. Wished you'd done that with the 0w01 😉
Nice - I was inspired to get on and pass my test at age 40 by the 916 - Passed and the instructor asked me what i was going to buy as my first bike after passing. - he nearly fell over when I told him I planned to buy a 996! 996 was good but not as good as my 1098 which I brought new and from JHP, it was set up by Jeff Green at G-TEC which transformed it. @@lussoveloce that would be great. Those Foggy ones are really rare. I remember the big stink the other manufacturers had when the Flammini brothers that owned WSB back then allowed them to do it. That was the real superbike era back then when all the factories had so many extra parts for the bikes that were supposed to be for sale to the public, but always seemed to be on back order. They had cams, heads, valves and all kinds of things. Can’t do that now, supposedly…..
Oo err missus... I have one of these I bought virtually brand new in 1998 from it's first owner - a wealthy guy who was not a biker, bought the bike, added a grand of ms carbon and scared himself shitless & sold it again with barely 1000km on the clock. It still had 2" chicken stripes when I took it for a test ride. I had a 1995 916 BP at the time, and was smitten by the SPS's added power when it hoiked it up into a crossed up wheelie in a low sped corner exit and just laughed at me!!!! Mine is number 296 7:31 that mph speedo is incorrect, should be a kph or is this a yank import bike??
