You two have totally nailed this format of reviewing; the discussion after the ride. It's so natural, and BvG's prompting of Fagan really do let us know how you feel. Just wish you'd expand the "2 blokes yapping" format to a weekly chat about everything in the bike world and racing world from the past 7 days. It would be better than a magazine - and it would probably get a bigger "readership" than any of the weekly or monthly mags too!
It's unbelievable that you guy's don't have a billion subs. These reviews are honest, amusing with great footage and overall great fun. You guys deserve so much more credit, keep it up!
+44Teeth If you come over to Belgium, I'll let you borrow my 848, you can then set it up to the 899 and 959! I know it isn"t an old bike, and the roads aren't great here... and we don't have alot circuits... Forget it.
I loving the format you guys are using. I think it would definitely benefit the channel if you guys were sitting together while having these conversations. I know Baron doesn't show his face, but on this channel it will make a difference and look more professional. I'm still not loving that side dual shotgun exhaust. :) Nice work as usual guys! 💯
Loving this guys, it's really like sitting down with a mate and talking about what it's like to actually ride a bike rather than reading off a stat sheet. My only tiny gripe is with the the camera auto focus and the voice echo at the end. It turns it from a pucka 100% professional big bucks production to nearer motorcycle magazine quality. Still the best production quality of any motorcycle journalists though, only factory promo vids are higher quality, keep up the amazing work guys!
I bet it feels like all the hard work pays off on events like that! Loving the channel, really a step up from a lot of the more common channels like mcn, show them how it's done.
Alastair and Baron, what were the first super sports bikes you lot had. I currently ride a triumph scrambler 900 and I'm looking to transition into the world of super sports and I'm wondering if this baby panigale would be perfect or if I should go all out on something like an s1000rr or a cbr1000. Thanks in advance -Ari
MCN should take notes on the equipment you guys use. Your guys' sounds is so crisp, theirs is always like you're in the middle of a windstorm. Keep up the good work!
THIS is the format for this sorta thing...everybody loves visiting bike shops so as a 'set' it feels right, very real world with back ground goings on too. More plugging required for this BvG, the effort and content deserve it! You pair aren't doing stale flybys and shouting mass market generalised opinions here, get people here first, then let them decide to stick around or not :)Think you pair need to come to Northern Ireland for a road race this coming year!
Another great video guys - noticeably more work done to produce professional photography of the bike on track; starting to look very good when overlaying the interview. I think this channel deserves more support than it receives, but keep it up and hopefully it will continue to grow :)
I have to compliment you guys on the cinematography in these videos. Exccellent shots and editing, bravo :) Do you do it yourselves? Or do you have photographer with you? Cheers
the intro was amazing, the jokes at the end were hilarious and everything in between was very well put together i find it hard to believe that it's just you 2 guys doing this, it's a proper jizz vid
@@penitenttangent8016I've owned them both. Both excellent bikes. However, when I wrecked my 959, guess which bike I bought again? I got the 959 Corse. There's no comparison from an ownership perspective. It sounds super lame...but there's just something about owning a Ducati...plus, the Panigale is the most beautiful bike ever made.
The face and overall appearance has been dramatically improved it looks so much more mature. The exhaust does look better underslung but as i have a 6 month old 899 i really dont feel its worth the upgrade Its got to be the 1299 next for me👍🏻 I bought the 899 because it was the best road bike i could buy and the prettiest for the price The look of the 959 is absolutely stunning and if they have improved everything its a great upgrade from a 600 But i really don't feel its worth losing money from 899 to 959 when there electronics haven't changed Still worth a test ride 🍻
my issue with the 899 has always been the super choppy throttle and the enormous engine braking...making it difficult to get back on the throttle mid-turn... if the slipper clutch helped that...this bike should be great
Seems nothing changes...I was lucky enough to do lengthy rides on a 999s and 749s back to back. The stomp of the 999 was great but you could use all of the 749 nearly all the time...so less is more...Oh, check out the Racefit exhaust...Moto2 loveliness!
With regards to exhaust: you mentioned that due to the change in weight distribution with the new exhaust and part of handling upgrades the shock length was increased by 2mm won't this affect the dynamics if people purchase underbelly aftermarket exhausts?
+JJ_Vids At top level, yes certainly. But for most people the exhaust will be off at first service after running in period so they wont have experienced the factory setup to its full anyway. Anyone who does notice a difference will probably be experienced/able to make adjustments to suit the new weight distribution and lower centre of mass. (Its kinda like adding preload and increasing tyre pressure for pillions/luggage, any change should be adjusted for, but alot of riders don't bother.)
I wanted to love this bike, but the looks of the exhaust and 1299 fairings don't do it for me (bulkier, more aggressive and I don't like the front end, plus it's heavier). I went back to my Ducati dealer and saw the 899 after seeing the 959 in the flesh and I've put a deposit down on a new 899 with Termignoni slip-ons. I won't be using it on track. The look and sound of the bike is extremely important and I still think the 899 and 1199 are the best looking sports bikes ever. Do you think the 899 with Termi (weight saving and remap) will give equivalent power to the 959? I think the performance between the two bikes will be marginal. If you can't answer the first question, can you tell me whether the Termi with the remap performs better than the stock exhausts on the 899? Lastly you mentioned someone buying this bike new could afford to buy the underbelly exhausts. That's an additional £2.5-£3k for the full race system and fairings, and it's not road legal, therefore another reason I went for one of the last new 899's! Would rather spend the £3k on a Honda Grom!
Great video great comments great bike bought one myself and as for the e haunts don’t even notice them now, love the sound straight out of the crate I think we’re all going to have to start getting used to some different exhausts than we are used to seen in the past I don’t think there halve as ugly as the new gsxr now that is ugly any way great work love the videos keep it up
The 899/959 serves two purposes; 1. Entice the customer with a low enough price to get him into the showroom to then set him up for upping his anti on the über sexy 1299, and should he hence forth not buy the big brother, 2. Put enough low end parts on the 959 to still make a killer margin. It's the same reason Starbucks sells a Short coffee for 95.9% of a Tall.
Just wondering does Fagan already work within the industry to some degree? He seems to get a lot of inside access to press launches, like the H2R ride at Brands and pretty sure you rode the R3 too?
why don’t after market companies make an exhaust the splits to match the dual side stock exhaust of the 959 so that aftermarket’s exhausts match up & look better. that double can doesn’t look good
I still don't get why ducati makes a 899 and and now bring a 959 and still keep the 1199 in the programm... as you sayed the engine isn't a a huge step up... Why don't they try something radical and make like a 650 or something instead of having 2 bikes in the more or less same class? I could Imagine a nimble 650 oder 700cc twin be an amazing bike! but still amazing content! keep it up ;)
because the majority of riders would not spend that kind of cash on a bike that performs worse than a 600. I can't speak for everyone but I'd rather have more bikes from other manufacturers that are in the middle between 600 and 1000s. The gsxr 750 is somewhat disappointing to me now since it's motor doesn't make any more power than it did in 06. The f3 800 makes about the same. Something the size and weight of a 600 putting 140+ hp to the wheel would be ideal in my opinion. But with all the electronics on the new 1000s and being able to tone the power way down on them I don't think anyone will build a bike like I want either
The sides pipes ruin the looks, it's completely fair to dismiss it. The 899 is cheaper (if you can even call it that) and the average rider will probably never discern the differences in performance. I own the 899, and i would have never bought it if it came with that stupid looking exhaust. Ducati has always been a bike to be seen on, No one ever buys them purely because of their performance potential, there are so many other bikes that cost far less that are faster. Hell i can arguably say my previous r6 felt faster and had more performance, but the Duc feels good, looks sexy and has way more character in its turning and road handling. Putting that stupid side exhaust on the bike is like a supermodel with no hair and wrinkly dry skin- that would effectively make it...not a supermodel lol. There are so many other sportbikes that look good and are way faster for the same amount of money. A slightly used RSV4, a last gen R1, and the list goes on.
You guys seriously need a pair of lavalier mics.. it would make the whole thing look more professional. If you need help with the sound editing, ring me up! ;)
Idk about this bike. It used to be a middle class bike to compete with the gsxr 750 and other middle class bikes but now with almost 1000 cc it seems like it's trying to compete with the liter bikes and it's lost my interest.
don't want to be a knob but would love to see some more action and less talking lads, great video anyway, really informing and very useful for someone interesting in buying one ,loving the channel!
+44Teeth what you guys do now is perf getting into bikes its really interesting to hear about this stuff and i walk past that ducati dealership every morning haha
those exhaust look great on a monster but it total ruins the lines of that beautiful back end its such a shame that the euro 4 rules have fucked ducati over with the new emissions and noise level requirements the extra grand or more for the proper underslung belly exhaust is a must have upgrade
Ducati Drew I'd say that the will make 19% more money than the base price would make. There is always at least 1% that likes wierd shit like the 959 exhaust or the BMW C1.
