Ducati History: How the Marianna Started it All - Back to Classics
We tend to take for granted that Ducati has such great reputation as a maker of racing motorcycles. But that was not always the case. In fact, it was the Marianna racing bike of 1955 that laid the foundations for all sporting success Ducati had afterward. So how did this all come about?
Today we talk about how Ducati became to make motorcycles and how racing became a part of its DNA in an early stage. The 100 and 125 Gran Sport racing bikes, nicknamed Marianna, were hugely successful in the Gran Fondo races of the 1950s. It was also the career start of one of the greatest engineers in motorcycle history: Fabio Taglioni.

Owner of a Ducati 1198s. Did Titans win at everything Italian suits number one Italian food? Where do I begin? It is the best Italian cars and bikes. I guess Italy is just sexy.

Do you think the monster 796 will be a future classic?

Classic in the sense that it will become older, certainly. But probably not too special given the total number produced. Nevertheless, it will remain a very nice bike!

I think if one entire category of monsters has a real shot at becoming desirable, its the ones that are built on the original trellis frame that ran from '93 and ended with the S4RS in 2008. Any of the bikes built in that time period (aside from '08 696) retain the original look that made the Monster name famous in the first place. In my opinion, the evolutions that came after this design, although nice bikes in their own right, are less important historically.

I wish to see closer the head of the engine, because it doesn't look an original one.
