A NO Bullshit review, first impressions, and overview of the masterpiece that is the Hypermotard SP 821. SUBSCRIBE for more videos! Thanks for watching.
Nice bike man! I've got the 821 2013 too. Was looking into installing the handguard of the old hyper too (mainly due to the foldable mirrors) but I heard they wouldn't fit. Obviously not! Did you have to modify anything to get them on yours?
hahaha you remind me of myself for a long time before getting one. I had one of these as my desktop background all through college and for like a year after graduating. Then one day I saw it for sale online and knew the time had finally come. Good luck man. fight for what you want from life.
Hey bud, nice review. Thank You! few questions, how tall are you? my height is roughly 5'9.5-5'10. You think i will have trouble on the bike (with/without the lowered seat) at traffic stop junction? PS: Hope to see more vids of the Hyper Beast!!! Cheers!
Ryan Kimura I'm 5'11 man. My bike does have the lowered seat on it and I'm still one footing it at stop lights. I can tip toe both feet down, but honestly just put my right foot down more than both. It's really easy to ride once you're moving at any speed although anything under 10mph you'll notice the bars get a little heavy cuz it wants to "fall" into the corners so speed is your friend on this bike haha. I will definitely be posting more vids soon. Just been a crazy couple of weeks👍 thanks for the
kevinkillsit "speed is your friend on this bike"..... hahahahaha... there goes my licence. Thanks for the heads up on the speed less than 10mph thingy. Planning to get this beast as my daily ride and I'll be doing lots and lots of lane filtering. Thanks for the reply and Ride Safe dude! Cheers!
I got a 2013, I bought mine from a guy who had the 600 mile service done, then traded it that day (while it was being serviced) for a panigale. I only have 2700 miles on mine. I love mine though
I love that exhaust brother... It's super sexy. I wish I could afford the extra $2000 to grab one! I will eventually, but for now the stock exhaust is fine!
Thanks for the review. I'm looking to buy one of that but I'm doubtful about reliability of Ducati bike. What is your impression after 5 years? Do u still have that bike? Thanks
It was great for me. Unfortunately the bike got totalled when a Camaro lane changed into me on the fwy. At that point it had about 28k miles and ran like a top. It was a ton of fun to ride
Thank you sir Jorge Borbolla I have the DB killer removed here, The full race pipe from Termi is a bit pricey, but the fit is so spot on and the tone is seriously amazing in person. This video below does a pretty good job of capturing the audio though. Ducati Hypermotard con scarico Termignoni 2013 (GoPro SOUND HD) if you have any questions feel free to ask man, I had researched this bike a lot before getting it, but am really stoked on everything. Been months already and it still makes me smile every time I see it haha.
kevinkillsit Thanks man, really appreciate it. The sound of your bike is SICK. One question, are the DB killers removed that loud? I mean I love the sound and some people say that you can modulate it with the throttle (the sound) but afraid its gonna wake up neighbors, but if its that good, who cares? lol. Also, is the fueling without the Db Killers good? I read a comment once that nothing beats a free breathing Duc, so that makes me wanna just get the termi and remove the baffles right up!
Jorge Borbolla Any time you can let a motor breathe easier it will boost the performance in all areas. I definitely wouldn't waste the money on buying the Termignoni if you're not going to get the FULL race pipe. Ripping that baffle out is a HUGE improvement. DO NOT BUY just the slip on, it's a waste of money. spend the extra bit and get the headers and baffle removed and you'll be much happier. Fueling wise I haven't pushed the bike to the extreme limits of mileage yet, but I will say my light comes about 100 miles +- 5 nearly every time. When I fill up its only about 2 to 2.2 gallons.
kevinkillsit Kevin, Thank you very much I really appreciate your answer, definitely will buy the full Termi and remove the baffles, boost in performance, sound, it really is a no brainer I think, screw the neighbors! lol. My best regards, keep enjoying that awesome bike you have bro!
Sweet ! sounds awesome and looks killer ! What dose it weigh in Lb's ? Ya i've been looking at these bikes along with the KTM duke and Aprilia shiver there a step up from a Supermoto. There for a hooligan that needs to do some highway riding.
Pretty sure I need to clean more of my garage so I can fit an SP in there as well. The 675R needs company. You mentioned owning a DRZ - how nimble is the SP compared to it?
+ShiftQuick hey man sorry for the extremely delayed reply. I started on the DRZ and still kept it in the stable after acquiring this one. In all honesty, though similar, they are completely different machines. The agility of a true supermoto is pretty hard to match, but the hyper does a valiant job at it. I feel like I'm floating on a landspeeder or something when I'm riding it. It goes right where you point it and is "flickable" enough for anything over about 15mph. under that speed you can definitely feel the weight compared to the DRZ. Go test ride one and see how you like it. great all around bike and mine's been very reliable.
+Louis Southern HAHAHA. I got his # and we met up shortly after this comment while he was down here in CALI. Check the video for LA vs SD 2 he put up. I was in that one with him, Very nice guy.
+CharlieOliverBates Yeah man. Runs like a champ. I get an occasional error code on the dash here and there. I think it's running a little lean because I had a vacuum leak after the plug hose for the eval system rotted off. long story... other than that though it's been great. 17k mi
I'm friends with Mr Cat. He's a super nice dude, but has had some of the worst luck I've ever seen with bikes. Mine has been pretty good to me so I can't complain. Yes, the no bump start option has always bugged me haha. Still, when it works it's hard to deny that this is one fun freekin' bike.
“Picked it up for a steal”. That means nothing to me 😂😂 you don’t have to be humble you won’t offend us, how much was it and how many miles? For people wanting to purchase one for a good deal it would be helpful
I paid 14,500, but she was only a few months old and only had 600 miles on it with all the very expensive upgrades already installed. It was my dream bike too and I loved every minute I owned it.
Brad Weiss Really depends what you want to be doing on them. I keep my DRZ cuz I owned it out right and had no need to sell it. I like having each one for there own strengths. I don't worry about my DRZ off road or doing just about anything on it really for me that bike is bulletproof and limitless fun. The hyper is a queen of everything I wish the DRZ could do better, but does trade off some other qualities. I like them both a lot and I still have them both to this day. hyper is at 22k miles now and my DRZ has over 85k. Cant go wrong with either bike. let me know if you have a specific question though. good luck.
I bought the DRZ as my first bike, and i love it and the forgiveness. I rode the 939 last weekend and it was awesome. I commute on the DRZ but it really limits me to certain routes and i would love a bit more power. So essentially I would probably trade in DRZ because as a newer rider I dont think I’m a 2 bike guy yet! I will say i am a pretty cautious rider so I am not concerned about controlling the power. I was also looking at keeping the DRZ and getting a street triple
I was also looking at the 939 because I have heard some electronic problems with the 821- I guess the issue is for how much that Hyper, and for what it is used for, its kinda a mismatch because as a hooligan bike its just to nice to thrash or not worry about it
Nope. I think they just bolted right up. Pretty easy and worked pretty good. I did have one of them brake after like 20k miles from fatigue. They aren't that strong in the corners.
Want to say it's called "pit bull" ran about $150 with the Ducati pin good solid stand. Was a little sketchy the first time I used it, but leave it on the kickstand and as long as you have at least 3 points of contact it's very stable and easy to use.
Just.....instant boner. That thing is so mean man, awesome and congrats. I'm actually on a 2013 DRZSM now. Love the bike, but doesn't have enough power. Would love one of these, but not in the budget. So I'm looking at the FZ-07/FZ-09.
***** fully understand the need MORE POWER thing haha! I also very seriously considered getting an FZ09 over this, but it really came down to one thing for me to make the decision. I love bikes, more than anything in the world, so when I really thought about it like that it justified getting the one I wanted. Life is too short not to live it the way you want to.
israel fernandez 2013, over 24k mi and never had a single issue with it. Perfect Bike for me, but I am selling it soon cuz I have too many bikes in the stable right now.
Its been really good to me so far. No major problems in 15k miles. I had a vacuum leak on the throttle bodies that would trip the electronics on the computer and it would sense it was running lean, then go to limp mode. Had to key off the bike and restart it occasionally when that happened, but not a huge deal. Only happened because the wrong parts were used when the race pipe was installed to cover the vac ports and they couldn't handle the gas touching them and rotted off, but since I replaced that it's been good. Make more power too. Stupid CA emission system is gone too. I'd give it a perfect score on reliability based on my experience and that it hasn't left me stranded yet haha. I trust it as much as my DRZ400sm that has 80k miles on it haha.
Richard Burns I gave them out to those who asked a while back somewhere in the comment section, but I think it may have gotten deleted some time ago. basically I took all of the preload out it would let me. I ran 4 clicks in from all the way out on compression (left side if I remember right) and rebound was about the same. I am in need of doing a full fork rebuild cuz it has turned into a pogo stick on me lately so I may make a video when I do that and post settings there. good luck
kevinkillsit thank you for the reply. What's the deal with the pogo-stick action?! A proponent of abuse, poor manufacturing and/or components or just time and mileage? Obviously ohlins is "all the rage" and thatd be a fantastic video.
Richard Burns actually the Ohlins shock is just fine, its the fork up front that needs a rebuild. I've got over 23k miles on her now and I think it's just time. I don't see any leaks, but its low on fluid I can tell because the rebound control is nonexistent. it just shoots back down when I hit a bump, probably due mostly to low or zero fluid in the damper
It was doing great. I was just about to hit 26k w absolutely zero issues, but unfortunately a distracted driver in a camaro crashed into me on the fwy at 65 and I went down lowside. I walked away after my gear did it's job, but unfortunately the bike was totalled.
Frederick Gaobusiwe it's a cool bike man. I miss it already. I always recommend getting something like a Suzuki DRZ400SM for a first bike. They are bulletproof and when you crash it you just pick it up and keep rolling
