Hopelessly overpriced where I live - 30% more than a Duke 890 R or the new Street RS. For the same money I could buy a brand new MT-10, fit better pads + braided lines and still have enough money for +400 litres of petrol. That should be about enough to power the MT-10 for a whole month 😂
@@TheMissendenFlyer to be honest, you could have just as much fun on an original 1100 hypermotard for 5K, love those things!!! You heading to the show over the weekend?
Ducati's pricing for all their range of bikes are out to lunch. Just compare the new full throttle scrambler and compare it to the Monster, and then the StreetFighter V2. It does have a fuel gauge however. 😜
If had that kind of money to give for a bike it wouldn’t be this one for sure, if ducati wants to double down on being exotic and premium this doesn’t cut it, mv agusta does it better
@@robnobbycrawford4378 MT is a better bike, much quicker up the power range. Better suspension than standard monster. My MT high up the range was quicker than my mates 890R.
Lovely but the base model V4 isn't far from the price of it,,suppose it depends on what you want,, the V2 street fighter,,is pretty similar,,most stuff that price is out of my range,,but it's nice to see new stuff ☘️☘️☘️☘️ from northern Ireland 😁
Naked bike group test will be epic. This. New triumph. Mt09-sp. 890. Yeehaw! I'm not calling it a "middle weight " test, because these bikes are almost 1000cc (except the trumpy). We're spoiled for choices!
I Agree. It looks ok but the character is lost. The monster was a chunky roadster/street mix. And with the trellis frame gone and that jacked up rear there is no heritage left.
I have the standard 2021 937 in red. Put the termi full system on mine (that test bike only has the slip ons). Also put a ohlins steering damper ( a must have on this bike) also a ducati tank mounted small bag. So all mine is missing now is the fancy suspension and brakes but I think the standard ones are just fine. All the Ducati SP models are rip off's - but if people are paying (and they are) Ducati will supply them.
Ive had my ‘22 Hyper SP for 18months and it feels like this Monster SP is really a Hyper for vertically challenged and smaller people with reduced weight and lower ride height with the same bonkers ride a Hyper. I need to test one
They have pushed the price close to the Streetfighter, they should have put the cam profile fro the Streetfighter to make the extra cost more worthwhile.
£14K OMG. My new Hayabusa only cost a grand more, and I know which one I prefer...all day long. You can keep you Monster bike with its Monster price Due-Kat-E
Nice review. Really like this bike & agree with your preference for level of performance for the road as well as riding on your own at semi-sensible speeds. I'd definitely be considering getting one of these if it didn't cost a bomb.
Tickles mar pickle chad👌 Little bit nosey✓ The gold stuff✓ Termis r sexy✓ yes they are different to the set that comes with the full fat system but be ample for mar knackered 45yrold bones.✓ plus im deaf😂 Bit more sexy than me old 765rs imo On me watch list at Stalkers dealerhip 14bags ay nearly 30.plenty left for bits and motion lotion. Big fat yes for me👍
nice and to the point! i am a bit disappointed because despite the improvements the engine remains the same - the 1200 version is not there any more, so i was hoping for an engine with improved specs on the SP version for the price. Still, it is an awesome bike. On the other hand so are the MT09 SP and KTM 890 R and they are also bit cheaper .. and tbh the V2 SF looks also appealing 🤪
Comes down to preference looks wise, and maybe riding position. I would go for hypermotard of the two, more unique bike. Both are awesome. I got the Suzuki gsx s1000 2022 because I cant get desmo service in this part of the country.
I think losing the trellis has removed one of the best visual cues of the Monster, what a shame, looks just like every other naked now, more like a Suzuki than a Duke IMO :-(
Ugly motorcycle since they get rid of trellis frame ! Used to have 2002 916 sena edition monster with all goodies and carbon fibers but this, well I like engine but I do not like anything else. If I will get to naked category again which I will not then Japanese motorcycle is way to go.
I'm always disappointed when the media is afraid to give a real review. No one can actually believe this is the true heritage of Monster and not point out how disappointing it is with regards to the new 890 KTM. I love my Ducati Monster and this is a very sad day (and review).
We're not afraid to do anything, Chad did say it'll be interesting to see how it compares to the KTM, we will not do a direct comparison unless we ride the other bike on the same day.
Chuck it against the moto2 similar value and see how it holds up bet it would get lapped Ducati are silly nowadays especially with the model of buy another bike until you can afford a Ducati
Here in Italy this bike is absolutely overpriced, around 3000 euros more than the new street triple rs. I won't believe it's worth the price difference, especially since it has 20 HP less
I agree. The price of a Termi exhaust nowadays is extortionate! (The one for the new Diavel V4 is £5,000!) Ohlins and the exhaust and a few decals for this, £3K? I'd take the standard bike and find a cheaper aftermarket exhaust personally. I notice that this one still sounds like a sewing machine even with the upgraded exhaust. (That's Euro 5 for you)
@@shanestewart4905 and what’s not premium about it? Öhlins suspension, steering damper, Brembo brakes, v2 engine, manufactured in Europe by European people that receive european salaries? Get a pay raise, bitter boy.
@@Asgardsrei You assume too much. Having the means often means being wise enough to acquire those means. Paying over the odds for a collection of parts that might only be slightly better than a less showy version at half the cost makes little financial sense to me. Groove on Fanboy.
So the fuel tank to me looks like a bad choice building a StreeFighter Hunch Back of Nostradame, ugh and I have always liked the Monster range since my first ever Ducati the first 600cc when ten years old.
Damn it. It's ugly. That really hurts my heart. I've been debating on the MT09, FTR1200, SV1100, GSX S1000/R750 and Duke 890... etc. So far the FTR has been the most fun hooligan wise, but a Duke is hilariously light and agile. The Ducati always peaked my interest but as an automotive photographer it HAS TO LOOK GOOD! The FTR leads that category in spades. Damn it. I'm sure it's fantastic to ride though, but I won't pay that much for a date with the ugly girl.
