This was our first ride on the V2 version of the Ducati Multistrada, its the replacement for the 950 which was a great road adventure bike. How does it compare?

It's nice that more and more consumers, journalists and manufacturers are starting to realise that there is a lovely sweet spot between 100bhp and 120bhp which is just perfect for the real world and real roads.

I think the suspension is what screams out amazing. It’s really top notch. I’ve used my wire wheel 950S on all types of road and it’s a great all rounder with good fuel economy and comfort. As much as I’d like a Desert X the Multistrada is the better bike.

Hi Stephen. I ride mostly on fairly bumpy roads. What is the ride quality like on a bumpy road ?
@stephenhadley2490
@stephenhadley2490 2 года назад
@@butchcassidy9125 well it's a darn sight better than most road bikes. It's adaptive to your terrain and the settings you input. If you are doing rough off road it's a bit heavy and the standard tyres struggle a bit.

@stephenhadley2490 4 месяца назад
@@michael-masi-2021 the Desert X is pretty good, I've ridden one. It feels a lot like my tenere 700 but higher spec. I think the multistrada is smoother and it's got more stuff like cornering lights and hill hold and electric suspension but I definitely wouldn't take the multistrada off road. Only on dirt roads

I’ve had a lot of bikes, bought the 950S last year. This, after riding the 1260 for several days. The 950 motor is perfect for road riding, the 1260 was a little lumpy at low speeds during commuting.

For those wondering, the lights behind the switches are backlights behind the none opaque switches. So if anything, they simply show slithers of light around the buttons, so you still can't make out shit in the dark. Just that the handlebars looks like a boring disco.

One of the things I like about my Monster S4RS is it’s great throttle control and linearity. It feels like you can dial up 1 hp at a time as you open up coming out of a turn. Mind you it’s a 2007 model with effectively a 999 engine and doesn’t need to meet euro5

Rode three Ducati’s at SMC Sheffields demo day and the V2 S was first. Having ridden my Honda CBR650R up there despite more power (slightly) and huge all day comfort etc I was left a bit underwhelmed and not excited by this bike! Wouldn’t swap the Honda for this. The next bike the Panigale V2 however…. What a machine, what a weapon! Even the dealer mistakenly handing me the bike in Race mode (didn’t get the time to run through the menus till I was riding and noticed) what a weapon but what a gorgeous thing! Still loving my Honda but may have to save up and buy a second hand Panigale V2 as my next bike!

So much praise for the Skyhook Suspension, but if you are north of 200 lbs., it is drastically under sprung and out of it's depth. This, in it's self is not the problem. The problem is that there is no aftermarket or factory support to rework the suspension if you plan to carry a passenger, heavy luggage, or you are a bigger person. I've been trying to find a solution for the better part of a year, for my 2020 950S Spoked model. Otherwise, it's brilliant! I just wish it had a bit more off road prowess. I suppose this is why Chris made no mention of taking it on a dirt road...

Interesting observation about the engine characteristics, especially considering the 3 cylinder competition from Yamaha, Triumph & MV. The looks and the sunken riding position are what turns me off what would otherwise be a serious consideration for my next bike. And a low mileage 950S would be far better value.

I think your comment on the V2S not giving what you ask for out of the throttle is very subjective. Prior to owning my Multi V2S I owned a Streetfighter V4S, Pikes Peak V4 and Diavel V4. Granted the V4 has a substantial more amount of HP, I never feel like the throttle isn't giving me enough on the V2. Plenty of power and torque in every gear IMO. The V2 is thinner and lighter than the Pikes Peak and turns in easier as well. For me this bike does everything well, including some off road fire trails. I added the spoked wheels to make it a little more off road capable.

You literally cannot tell it's on a 19" front, if you had to ride the bike "blindfolded" so to speak. And there are plenty of tyre choices in 120/70-19. I thought the same as you, so much so that I modified my own Multi 950 to a 17" front!
