Nice bike. Its fine for them to build a eMTB, they have to get with the program for their road bikes as well as you say. In years to come everything will be electric but the more eMTBs the better who cares who makes them, would be nice to have Ducati on the down tube of your bike though, cool. AND HEY ROB, where did it sit on the Rob chart ?? You didnt tell us.
@@eddiebaby22 Ahh, the EEBOMETER!! This test was too short to add it on there, usually I have some full on riding days, so too soon to add it on 👍🏻 Maybe I can get a long termer for review, I might ask!
@@RobRidesEMTB Aww, we love the EEBOMETER it's awesome! You could have just given us a little idea, perhaps not stuck it on there permanently yet, just pointed maybe this is where it'll go :) That chart is way better than the cool wall they used to have on Top Gear! Really looking forward to seeing where the Haibike Flyons sit on there.
I have to say i am a big fan of ducati and own a ducati scrambler and a levo The only thing I really dont like is the shimano drivetrain on the ducati mig But it looks awesome Great review Greetings from the netherlands
I don’t know about your budget. But my 2013 Ducati motorcycle in mint condition coast less . Also for a bit more money you could buy actual Ducati motorcycle.... I get it .it’s a good bicycle ... but price for e bikes in general is obviously overpriced...
Went out for a couple of hours shredding the trails in the sunshine after work the other night and was joined by a newbie riding one of these new Ducati’s. Apparently he’d been to Ducati’s Manchester store where they were trialing this very bike. He had a quick ride around the car park ,was instantly hooked and pulled out his credit card. Fair play to him, didn’t give a toss what the travel was ,or the geometry, just wanted to ride. That’s the power of e bikes for you. Mean looking machine by the way!
What a beauty! I never tested an electric bike but I think that the technology and ebikes are going in the right directions. Those ones are not cheap, but I hope soon the prices will drop when all the manufacturers will have at least an ebike.
Yeah, I just read that Audi (owner of Ducati) have said that all brands in their group need to have electric vehicles in their roadmap. I'm sure that all the other Motorcycle manufacturers will be looking in with interest.
Wow, it looks the same as every other e8000 based e-MTB with brand-name components, but with battery mounted on wrong and a name that probably doubles the price tag. For a name as prestigious as Ducati, I'd expect some carbon fibre!
Have to say I couldn’t disagree more, looks are subjective but I think this is one of the best looking emtbs out there,The name doesn’t double the price ,look at thoks price list. Why do you want carbon fibre, personally I have never been a fan of it.Unless you are seriously retentive about the weight, and lets face it,weight is academic in an emtb I do not see the point. Why is the battery mounted wrong,I wasn’t aware there was a right way to mount a battery ! If a collaboration like this works then I say bring it on.I intend to buy one as soon as the new 2021 model comes out and as the great billy connolly said “f@%K the begrudgers”
I'm really digging the format Rob. Your people centric reviews are going from strength to strength. Looks like you got lucky with the weather too. Jorge was there the day after you and it pissed down 🤣
What a beautiful bike! I think that you are right...there's a lot of interest in electric vehicule from their side. After all Ducati is own by audi/vw group!😎
Hello...i'm Italian and i'm really happy and exited to see that english people love italian style,in Ducati or in Ferrari our people ever try to put emotions in a product because...it has not to be an industrial product for first. I also like to see Ducati launched in this trip...it could be a new very interesting experience full of good results for them and for who will want to buy a good Ebyke.I buyed one year ago a simple low price Ebyke just for to be able to move around my new home in Sardinia(i come from Milan) and right now i have got this interest,hobby...Ebykes,really a nice way to move and the new technolgies will make them really super in some year only.I hope to be comprensible,my english is not so good, anyway bye all and a nice future for the Ebykes and thanks for the good movie.
@@Gungarr Also Ebikes don't cost as much to charge, they run nice and quiet and most importantly you aren't taxed the same way as you would be with a motorbike so works out cheaper in the long run . Unfortunately people don't get this so start spouting the usual Ebike hate .
I do not understand why people hesitate over e-bikes. As a motorcyclist, I would only consider an e-bike if I wanted to purchase a pedal bike. If a company can make bicycling/motorcycling MUCH more approachable, it would bring more people to the sport. The issue lies with the "purists" who denounce "cheating" with electric motors. Forget them. I invite anyone that denounces doing things the "easy way" to throw away all of their power tools including their air compressors if they feel so strongly about doing thing manually. I rode my mothers E-Bike for the first time and I was beyond impressed by how I could pedal uphill at ~20 mph as a 205 lb man who hasn't ridden a bicycle in a decade.
E-bikes are a very lucrative market at the moment. It's not surprising a company like Ducati would introduce one. I don't think the they are testing the market for the pre-introduction of a full electric motorcycle with a E-bike, as they are completely different animals. I would say it was more to do with the amount of profit there is in the electric bike industry at the moment. It's a nice looking bike, and it does have that famous branding. A lot of people will want one, including myself. Cheers👍
I have been back and forth between my Stomer road bike and my EMTB.for regular exercise and fun... I choose the Stromer. I miss my EMTB but it was so slow on the street. I just do not have easy access to the MTB trails.
Hiya Rob . I don't know if yo know this but ducati is now owned by the Audi vw group so it's not going to take them long to get into electric motorcycles .
Good bike. I am not too keen on having the battery below the tube, but I guess it pushes the weight downwards a little, but it kind of leaves it exposed.
check, at one point closer to the beginning of the vid, the rear rim it's mentioned at 27.5", then later 27"? what is it really?, thanks for the vid cool bike
GM General Motors partnered with Bionx ebike, then GM sued them and forced Bionx into bankruptcy. That is what happens with a great small company like Bionx plays with the big DOGS. Be cautious Thok and make sure you have a great attorney working in your legal dept to DOT your "I's" and Cross your "T's" in all legal contracts with the big guys. Would hate to see Thok forced into bankruptcy like Bionx was.
Good video, bike looks stunning! Interesting thought about electric Ducati motorbike. I go to the tt and they race electric motorbikes, always impressed with them. They should do it, just worried about price
When I entered Ducati bicycle I hoped for an attempt at making a steel frame as complicated but light as the Ducati motorcycles(or titanium?). I'm just as disappointed as with ktm bicycles, designwise
Now compare this with the Hibike rubbish or the overpriced Specialized. This is not only beautiful, but also worth the price (IF you can say EMTBs are these prices worth at all!)
If we had a money free world such as suggested by the listed movements, these would be free. Alternative economic systems: - a Resource Based Economy (RBE) - Ubuntu Contributionism - an Open Economy - a Freedom Economy
Ducati's motorcycles are above the top for performance. If this Ducati Thok MigRR is anything like the quality/performance of their motorcycles, I'm sold. It is beautiful. Impressive SPECS... interesting they used a smaller diameter wheel on the rear. Is that for better torque..? climbing..? I understand how the larger wheel on front will improve handling. And are you filming with a GoPro HERO7 black in HyperSmooth..? That is about the only feature on the new GoPro that actually works..! LOL . the rest, like GPS gages are a joke. I was moving 4mph and the download recorded that i was moving 80+mph. The time of day was recording 7+ hours ahead of the actual camera time. It was a nice idea... But GoPro needs to step up their game. Thanks for a great review.. nice ride along. :) . Robb PDX USA
The smaller back wheel is easier to flick around in quick turns, at least that's the idea behind it, never tried it myself although I do like the idea.
@@GC16199 MTB manufacturrs have realised that MX and Enduro bikes have had a larger front and smaller rear for about 40 or 50 years and never changed the format for good reason.
What is the maximum speed of Ducati e-bike on the leveled road? Is this bike is also assisted manually to help the motor when ascending on a 30 degrees slope mountain road?
@@seantunn Depends doesn't it, Although i wouldn't pay it as i convert my own bikes to electric, I would understand someone not as practical, or not having the inclination, who would pay up to a couple of grand maybe even two and a half grand at a push. BUT 6250 euro's thats silly, unless your rich of course. But Hey i suppose you are paying for the Ducati brand.
I’ve heard the Brose systems on the Specialized bikes are heads and shoulders above other systems, including the popular Shimano drive. Do you feel that this is the case? What is the impact on the overall experience? Is there really hope that Shimano could bridge the gap based on software updates? This is my largest concern as I consider my options. I can get so much more parts value with brands that use Shimano, but wonder if getting the Brose is more important. Thanks! -Warren
The Brose Mag S is very good, not massively better, but more powerful (90Nm torque vs 70Nm on Shimano) and it’s slightly quieter. The Brose Mag S is my favourite EMTB Motor at the moment, but things are changing all the time!
Rob Rides EMTB Thanks for the reply Rob and all the great content! It sounds like you rate the Brose as better for additional power and lower noise, but what about power delivery? Is there a significant difference there as well?
Way too expensive. Fine if you can afford it. But you can get a great bike for half the money. Not worth 3k just for the name imo You could buy a triumph Street triple for this money ☺️
Definitive proof that electric mountain bikes are over priced. You can buy a Ducati Monster 821 like mine for same price as this and NO ONE can say the same level of cost has gone into this than what went into my Monster. Ducati shame on you for trying to rip people off too! I may consider buying a Triumph and selling my Ducati after seeing this. So disappointed
I thought like you until i Fractured my pelvis, plus i'm an old fart now and need the help up the hills that electric brings. Wish i didn't need it though!
Looks like an EMTB to me. The only "motorbike" bit is the name. If you don't know the difference between a Motorbike and a EMTB you need to do some research. I have ridden and raced Motorbikes for 45+ years and riding an EMTB is completely different.
@@leedove7255 I've been riding mountain bike for over 10 years, I compered the Ducati EMTB to a "DIRT MOTORBIKE' not a MOTORBIKE, yes a bit too much but a mountain biker would get what I am trying to say. in my opinion the Ducati is bulky , I am not saying that Ducati EMTB is better or less than other EMTB, I have tried several different EMTB , the problem I noticed first is the weight , it is very hard over a drop more than 2 feet also jumping is very difficult maybe is ok on the small one but on a dissent jump or over a ditch , I don't recommend it. being bulky make it very difficult to maneuver fast and more, basically i don't see much difference between DUCATI , YT, SPECIALIZE kenevo , HAIBIKE .
@@abelramos8652 I compered the Ducati EMTB to a "DIRT MOTORBIKE' not a MOTORBIKE, yes a bit too much but a mountain biker would get what I am trying to say
Being a keen motorbiker, mountain biker and exclusive to v.a.g for decades, I think it's pricing is utterly ridiculous. Stop fannying around this (like Audi's bike did some time ago) and build an electric motorcycle to rival lightning's forthcoming stunner at a reasonable price.
A 6200 dollar Ducati bike!............nope! Better ff with a bafang g510 running 60 volts on Sam 30q cells and a AliExpress 600 frame! Way more fun plus, you’ll have 3 grand left to buy yourself a new DJI action cam and top shelf drone to film yourself!😂👊🏾
Thanks Rob, I look about Ebike who can 150km , 2000 m altitude with one Accu. I live in Burundi 🇧🇮 « One thousend und one Mountains » Streets are so bad that I need a good ebike. I have a Specialized MTB Epic Sworks. But I need ebike because I have 100 kg, not easy to climb the mountains. I ride on Saturday from big city to country 150 km und 2000 m altitude. Wich ebike can I buy to get lighter the mountains 🏔 ?? Thanks Rob
John Ntwari You won’t find an ebike that can do 150km / 2000m elevation with one battery it just doesn’t exist. Get a bike with external battery and get a spare battery. It’s relatively light, small and easy to carry but with 100kg you still need to ride conservatively.
