I've heard the 1100 is pretty awful for off roading and "tougher" terrain. I'd personally recommend the Desert Sled.

Hey, the Desert Sled is on a league of its own with a higher ground clearance, reinforced swingarm and improved suspensions among other things. It's also more expansive than the Icon. The Icon figuring in this video is not heavily modified, and as you can tell just by looking at it, you don't need to pay that much if you wanna have fun. By what I can tell, the Icon here has got a lower handlebar (might be the FT handlebar), aftermarket exhaust slip-on, enduro front fender, and a fender eliminator with plate relocation kit. Also bar-end mirrors. :) If you want an all in all good motorcycle that you can modify to your taste and ride around town with potential offroading capabilities, go for the icon. If you want some more offroading capabilities, then just go for the Desert Sled. Performance is the same.

Hi Gary! Haha, glad to read your comment. It's hard not being clumsy on the Scrambler, but it sure does the job! The pipe is a Two Brothers Black series to a Gixxer 750, modded to fit the scrambler (not an easy task, but worth it). Unfortunately no catch that day so no decayed fish in my back pack. =) Drive safe!
