Real hunters? That’s highly debatable. It’s called hunting not killing. If you have to resort to swatting waterfowl on the water that’s not injured and your not like 10 years old or have some kind of disability then you need to do 1 of 2 things get to a skeet range and learn how to lead/shoot or give it up. I know you would be asked to leave my property if you did that.

Im sorry you can't decoy birds and have to resort to pass shooting and sky busting. That must really suck. Mabe you should learn how to hunt and call. I have been doing this for 27 years and was a guide for 8. I typically hunt 3 to 5 days a week. This morning was my 6th trip, and limit, in a row. I assure you, I'm a better wing shooter than you will ever be. And I wouldn't wanna hunt your property, you sound like a grumpy old ass. Ill just hunt my own property thank you very much.

@@terekworley3713 there’s about a 1% chance you’re a better shot. Especially if you have to resort to shooting waterfowl on the sit. Last time I dealt with someone with a mouth like yours he was on our DU committee we all went and shot a round of sporting clays. I more than doubled his score. He then wanted to shoot skeet so we went and shot a round of 50. I quit shooting after my first round of 25 because I had his score of 50 beat already. Bottom line you’re not worth the time even if I lived remotely close to you.

If they showed the 20 or so good kills and titled it that it would be a great video. It would give young shooters some good leads to visualize and learn from. These guys are better than this and hopefully learning from it and become better shots and put up better quality videos. Duck hunting is not a video game. Low percentage shots are killing way too many birds that do not make it to the bag and table. This is a prime example of video game shooting. Spray and pray whatever you want to call it. I don't care about water swats, you just have to know how to do it and it is pretty obvious they do not know how. How can anyone who has spent some good time in a blind argue with my points???????? They can do better this!

As an avid duck hunter, this guy isn't a very good shot. He shoots high and low a looooot. And if you wanna be technical, a water shot is the most ethical. Easy head shot every time. And isn't the ultimate goal of waterfowl hunting, fooling the birds? Getting them to land means you fooled them 100% Watching this vid miss on a water shot made me literally SMH. Me and my crowd don't shoot fly buys hardly ever, and don't take a shot unless we are sure we can hit it. Now im not a robot, I miss. But this vid is embarrassing for the duck hunting community. Poor gun control and lots of sky busting

Idk of a single state where it’s illegal. I’m sure there are some. I know for a fact it’s fully legal to water swat in Wisconsin. I see no issue with it. Easiest, deadliest shot there is.

You're trying to kill the duck. Fooling them into the decoys is better than sky busting like half these shots are.

So? The whole idea of sportsmanship is totally arbitrary; what's sporting about using a shotgun when you could use a slingshot? In fact, a slingshot would be pretty unsporting when compared to sneaking up and catching a duck with your bare hands. Wait, you mean you don't hunt ducks with your bare hands? Well, that's just unsportsmanlike... The real concern of a fowler isn't whether a shot is sporting, but whether a clean kill is achievable. A landed duck can be killed cleanly and a meal for the table all but guaranteed.

@@mrsmith9079 I agree sportsmanship can be dissected on any level. To ethically harvest an animal takes skill, not only knowledge of decoy spreads, calling, shooting . Wing shooting is and gentleman's game and should be treated as such.

@@northwesternflyways5126 You are aware that fowling was never a sport in the same way that driven game shooting was? Fowlers were far, far more concerned about putting food on the table than they were about shooting ducks for the sporting aspect. Those punt guns and 4 bores that you see from fowlers of old weren't designed for taking birds on the wing, they would be used to take as many ducks as they possibly could by sneaking up and shooting at a group of them on the water. If anything, shooting a landed duck is far more in-keeping with tradition that taking them on the wing is.

I’m in agreement with you. I was taught from a young age to only swat a duck if crippled or if you’re a young first time hunter. If you’re that poor of a shot get to a skeet or sporting clays range. These guys mentioning the punt guns used for market hunters have no relevance to your comments. This is an entirely different situation. And as far as saying it’s more ethical to swat them on the water? If you want to take it to that level then don’t hunt ducks at all and go buy burger at the store. By far the vast majority of duck hunters hunt ducks for the sport not for the need for food. If you that hungry don’t spend all that $ on high priced ammunition, guns, decoys, clothing, boots/waders and license and fuel to get you to your hunting destination. Go straight to the grocery store you’ll be much further ahead if you’re only after food.

As a waterfowler for 30+ seasons...our job is to fool em into the decoys..water swats mean I've done my job...

Who shoots ducks on the water? Where is the sense of sportsmanship? And then to put it on a video. Must need meat real bad.

It takes a lot of skill to use plastic calls, motorized decoys, and hundreds of BBs per shot. Shooting on the water is relative and one shot to the head on a decoyed bird is perfectly reasonable and more ethical kill than pass shooting birds that randomly fly over.

Our ancestors shot birds on the water all the time. They shot things to eat, not worry about if someone is watching them. Dead is dead doesn't matter how it happens. The philosophy: it flies it dies. It sits there it dies too

Your ancestors ate to survive not write about in a magazine or or Facebook.

It's a shotgun not a rifle furtherest it will shoot is 70 yards no fear of them houses

@@browningmaxus5360 First off the post wasn't about how far the shot travels, it's what is behind your target and are you hunting at a legal distance? You better take a lesson in ballistics. The pellets from a shotgun will travel way farther than 70 yards. Put up a target at 70 yds and shoot it with a load of BB's, or as the sky busters around here like to use, T shot. My original post, if you had really read it, was the houses appear to be really close. And if you are within the 440 yards, you are in violation of some game laws and the wardens will gladly relieve you of your cash and equipment.
