Fun Fact: In Japan, there's the saying "a duck coming over, carrying an onion", which is used to describe someone who's just asking to be killed/bullied, an easy target, or a lucky opportunity (because duck and onions go well together). And yes, it's the inspiration behind Pokemon's Farfetch and the "duxions" in Konosuba - in fact, they're both called "Kamonegi" (short form of the saying) in Japanese

I thought the German translation of this was funny cause they named the duck Lauchente (leek duck) which rhymes with Laufente (runnning duck) which is a real duck breed. I was curious what the joke in Japanese would be.

Keep in mind that Megumin knows what it means to go hungry. She only does what she HAS TO to survive. She's not spoiled with the luxury of not slaughtering her own meat like most of us first world-ers. She's not being cruel for cruelty's sake. She's just isn't naive about where food comes from, and isn't afraid to do the dirty work herself as a matter of necessity and survival.
