1:40 Scrooge: Did I...adopt more children? Lena & Violet: More like spontaneous babysitting/field trip. Panchito & Jose: oh hey, that’s what happened to us but we were legally adults.
I’m not sure if Huey is so much behind his brothers with arc or if because Huey stories feel less connected because his character growth and arc isn’t tied to some bigger ongoing plot like Search for Della or Louie Inc. I have noticed we are getting a lot of Huey focused episodes that deal with his struggles and looks deeper at his character the same as his brothers, but unlike their arcs there is just nothing else tied to that, so it seems like Huey has no focus or isn’t progressing. If we look back at Louie or even Dewey’s arcs in previous seasons they didn’t really make major changes for most of their seasons. Louie doesn’t really get what Scrooge is trying to teach him until the penultimate episode of season 2. Dewey got nowhere in his search until the Sunchaser episode. Huey is making the same progress IMO, but his character arc is more internal struggle than an external one like his brothers, which makes sense. Huey is very controlled oriented and can be a bit of perfectionist his struggles work better when played off other characters, like Louie disrupting his carefully laid out Trick or Treat plan. Huey season is happening, it is just not tied to a Huey wants to do something plot like Dewey and Louie’s were.
Scrooge points out a major part that has to do with Heron's character too. And it's something Bradford points out later. She wants the big flashy villain showing, wants to make a scene. That why they are FOWL not OWL. That's why she can't get the sword. And it's why Bradford calls the shots.
I actually like your interpretation of Huey's character development, Seaniccus. I always thought that the fact that Huey had so little screen time, and Dewey so much, even in season 3, was because the writers had zero interest in developing Huey as a character and rather use his time on Dewey attention seeking gimmicks. I think Huey is going to have a huge part in the last part of this season, which is his season.
Fun fact: Happy birthday Doofus Drake foreshadowed this when della and huey were playing legends of legend quest when he says, "Make way for the Duke" he was referring to the duke of making a mess.
I think I just figured it out. I think I just realized why FOWL wanted a feather from Scrooge. Ancestry test, as Webbie has shown, he has a big Family tree, but it’s all cousins and nephews. Does Scrooge McDuck have an heir? Which is probably the key thing that they’re wanting from the beginning. After all the papyrus is only supposed to appear in front of Scrooge McDuck’s heir. And with that papyrus it would just be a few pen strokes to rule the world.
They all share multiple traits from different family members. Huey is still similar to Feathery as well as Donald as an adult. At the same time Dewy is very similar to Della he has some similarities to a younger Donald that we have seen from time to time.
@@Jjop017 Della apparently passed her trait of seeing all the angles down to Louie, as Scrooge hinted in the Game Night episode. "Your mother could do it."
When I saw Huey's inner rage and the balance he struck with it, I'm instantly reminded of Bruce Banner and the Hulk from MCU, especially Avengers: Endgame with Professor Hulk.
Easily my favorite thing about this episode is seeing Huey And Luna interact. I love seeing them interact and I don’t think they’ve actually directly interacted with each other since that subway episode in season one
I love how in this episode you get pairs of the kids that we don’t normally see because when Lena and Violet are there it is normally with Webby but Lena and Violets relationship with Huey Dewy and Louie is something I have always been interested in so I think this episode did a great job of that.
Seeing "Beaks in the Shell!" paints Gandra's actions in this episode in a different light. In that episode, we learn Gandra only joined fowl so she could use their mainframe to help Fenton build the Gizmocloud, making me believe that everything she did here was just a ruse to convince Bradford he could trust her.
11:47 I just thought of something. Remember in The Shadow War when Huey, Dewey and Louie left and Scrooge was so depressed that he ordered all of those pizzas. Pizza is Huey, Dewey and Louie's favorite food. What if that was the reason Scrooge ordered all of those pizzas? Does he even like pizza?
I think my favorite part about this episode was how they used different villains to combat each team, or just Scrooge in one case. It's also interesting how each FOWL member here came from various Disney productions: Rockerduck from the Disney comics, Gandra Dee from the original "Ducktales" cartoon, Steelbeak from "Darkwing Duck," and Black Heron from this show. I really do wonder what they'll do with Scrooge's feather.
My best guess is that FOWL is, like you suggested, going to make a clone or something of a member of the McDuck clan, and they're doing it BECAUSE they want to find the Papyrus again. Scrooge wrote that it would only be found by an heir of Scrooge McDuck. (Though the specific warning also included something about the Papyrus' FINAL resting place. So that opens the door for theories.) But anyway, FOWL may be creating their own McDuck heir to find the Papyrus. Why? Maybe Bradford wants Scrooge to forgot about his involvement again?
Spoilers for ep 17 ahead. Scrooge and Matilda at one point say that what makes McDuck family great is not the name but the people in it. At the same time it is strongly implied that they consider Webby, who is not related to McDucks by blood or by name, to be part of the family. So it's implied that being a part of McDuck family, and thus Scrooge's heir (provided you are younger then him of course) has nothing to do with blood but with choice. In other words, being a found family/choosen family of a McDuck family member(s) seems to have as much, if not more meaning, as being actually related to them by blood. And in this case it has to be Scrooge's choice since it is HIS heirs we are talking about. So if Scrooge doesn't consider someone to be his heir, they might never find the scrooll even if they are his relative. Or I might be reading too much into all of this. I'm seriously obsessed by now.
Steelbeak is starting to be a little more seasoned and threatening with this episode. He's not quite the debonair, conniving mastermind yet, but there are seeds in this episode. You gotta love Huey trying to appeal to Steelbeak with the "I'm you as a child" bit that instantly failed. And let's not forget the Spice Master, played by wacky comedian Flula Borg (or however you spell it).
The change of pace fit extremely well with this episode, and it's one of my favorites. It's also the first episode where I really liked Violet and her contribution to the plot.
If the rumors are to be believed, it's been a fun ride, like a hurricane. I'm kind of sad that I only stumbled across this channel a few months ago, but still glad I found it. I hope whatever comes next is just as good.
Me: Heh. They froze time in Egypt. I wonder if that's a Jojo's Bizarre Adventure reference or just a-- Steelbeak: Your Bazaar Adventure is over! ...you magnificent bastards.
Also, it may be a copy of Doofenschmurtz and Perry the Platypus, but imagine an episode where Dewey confronts Don Karnage in the latter's old stomping grounds of Cape Suzette, only to find out he's already in battle with the fully grown Molly Cunningham as seen in the promo poster. This breaks Dewey's heart like. Dewey: " I thought I was your arch enemy! I stole your ship and crew, we even had a sword duel!" Karnage: "You are it's just well... Molly and I have been at this longer than you have." Dewey: "How long?!" Molly: "Since I was six years old." Dewey "GASP!" Louie: "Oh boy." Dewey: "We'll I hope you two are very miserable together!" A week has passed since then and Dewey is still going though this archenemy breakup. He even stores away his stuff for his Dewey Dewnight web show and eating chocolate syrup.
We first meet the Duke of making a mess during the internship with mark beaks and during Scrooge's birthday when Huey starts to loose it (dj daft duck flashes a split second reference to the duke)
3:20 _me: flashback to all the Dewey and Webby "Dream work makes the team work" scenes_ Me: not usually see them with?, we see Dewey and Webby togethwr a lot!
I like that they brought back The Duke Of Making A Mess after his debut during the Dufus Drake Birthday party episode. Plus it was the best idea to let this be Huey's battle rather than Lena's who could have defeated Steel Beak using her magic.
Can I just point out that when Seaniccus is talking about when fowl stole the feather he mentioned a clone of Scrooge Mcduck and if that wasn't the most spoilery prediction ever, I don't know what is.
About the Huey development. I actually think that both loui and huey seem to be less focused on because of dewey in the first season. I feel like he is the only one who had more time devoted to his problems than the other triplets. Even in the later season there are still episodes that are about him (se2: Last Christmas and a whole ep with della, SE 3 Ragnarok and double o duck.). Of course this makes a lot of sense, duwey loves to be in the spotlight and also has a lot of friends. Thus he joins them in episodes. But I still think the episodes with huey are good. The Trickering were he plant a perfect route. The Fountain of youth were he is robbed of the older brother fokus. Even his dream in se 2 Nightmares on motorhill say so much about his desire to be a good older brother. (also that is not his season).
POSSIBLE SPOILERS I think Webby's a clone of Della that F.O,W,L. created some time after their first encounter with Scrooge (in the next episode) in order to find the Papyrus of Binding which can now only be found by Scrooge's true heir as a result of "the first adventure" and I think Beakley (who, herself, might've worked for F.O.W.L. at some point, seeing as their ideals somewhat align) rescued and hid away before they could use her. It'd explain why she'd lie about being Webby's grandma, why she's always been so overprotective of her, why the return of F.O.W.L. seemed to be driving her over the edge in "the Impossibin", and even why they'd need Scrooge's DNA again, seeing as their previous attempt at creating/raising Scrooge's heir to find it failed. Webby's similarities with Della's have been pretty obvious since the second we met the latter and having her be a litteral clone of the boys' mother would cement her as a blood relative (even though she already fits in the family just fine regardless).
I'm really enjoying more Lena and Violet. I'd kinda like to see an episode that starts off at their place and maybe their dads get caught up in some Duck family shenanigans. Maybe counter-balanced by Della and Donald's parenting styles vs a more suburban one. Not in an antagonistic way or anything but more if an "you do this everyday?" sort of wonder. Plus I'd just like some character development on them.
Well I doubt the would be particularly antagonistic about it-they seem completely OK, extatic even, that their daughter is a Woodchuck and we all saw what the senior test there looks like. Crossing a literall lake of lava is not that much safer then facing a bunch of criminals and thughs.
Really I wouldn't be all that surprised if at least one of them was an expert on the occult or even a mage themselves and just bring low-key about it. It would explain a bit about helping Lena with having a more normal home life after what she'd been through.
I originally thoughtt they wanted that feather to gain access to a previous visited place (I'm keeping it spoiler free) but it look like I was wrong when that episode appear and revisited that place!
What happened to B.O.Y.D.? I thought that Huey's development would somehow tie into his new friendship with B.O.Y.D., but it's instead tied into these Missing Mysteries.
@@gracekim25 True, but I'm talking about how that affects Huey. I like what they were going with. A kid who acts more like a robot befriending a robot who acts more like a kid.
I question why so many "genius" characters (like Huey) think having emotion is unnecessary/impractical and intelligence is the only thing that matters? Sure; emotions are wild, unpredictable and can cause quite a mess (socially speaking.) But is living like a robot, with a mind that's nothing but logic and reason...all that really matters
Often it's not the rejection of having emotions, but of being dependent on them. This can be particularly so in the case of characters like Huey who are young, but I feel it can also be because favouring being logical often gets you easily mocked. 'You aren't flying by the seat of your pants making a mess of everything? How lame are you?' We flat out see this with Huey in 'Astro Boyd' where he gets mocked for just wanting to do things properly. Heck, looking at who surrounds him, Huey often HAS to be the logical one or nothing will get done.
@@keirgomcginlay2044 Very true...but there are times where he should simply hang loose and relax, instead of having every single thing be timed; like in Fountain of the Foreverglades
@@sadlobster1 Oh yes, I feel learning to relax is a part of his character growth. That said, I feel Fountain of the Foreverglades is actually a counter example. As Dewey's 'do what I want when I want' just led to constant failure. As Huey points out, sometimes he schedules things because they HAVE to be scheduled.
Great job with this video. I hope to see more of Huey’s character development. Keep analyzing these episodes and the characters. And speaking of characters, maybe you should do a video about Gandra Dee reforming. I know her reforming is something a lot of people including myself have been hoping for. But there have been signs of her having a good side since she first appeared. And in this episode she said she didn’t want to hurt Dewey and Webby. Well, she blind with her flash bomb but the blindness was temporary so it doesn’t count as physical violence towards the McDuck family. So if you could please make a video explaining her actions, her good nature and her possibly reforming that would be great. Merry Christmas to you.🦆👍😡👿🐤👉😇🐤🎅
The rest of season 3 resumes on Fe. 22. According to the description, Gandra and Fenton have been secretly been working on a top-secret experiment and dating, and Huey's been trying to keep both their project and relationship a secret from the world. It's called "Beaks In the Shell", and yeah, Mark Beaks is back to make life difficult for Fenton again.
@@gracekim25 yeah but she has somewhat control over it and plans what to do to attack other times sh acts like her brother and just yell, punch, scream, punch you showing why she's Donald's twin
I'm guessing the parchment from "The First Adventure" is the reason for F.OW.L. needing the feather, Scrooge wrote that the Parchment remain lost until found by Scrooge's heir.
@@sergioandrade8735 Scrooge's RIGHTFUL heir. Doesn't have to be a blood descendant at that point, just whoever Scrooge decides will inherit. It could be Webby, if he so chooses.
I did a rewatch of Ducktales after the finale, and during it I realized that the Duke of Making a Mess was mentioned in the intern episode with Mark Beaks, which made watching this one so cool.
Random theory that may not be relevant since the villains of F.O.W.L. got Scoorge's feather maybe you are on something about the clone theory, but what if they already have in different way? What if Webby is the female clone of Scrooge McDuck? Which makes her Scrooge's daughter for be the donar of his DNA. Webby loves Scrooge, wants to be like him, learn everything about him and his family. So what if Agent 22 knew about this of F.O.W.L. and took her away to give her a better life.
I'm 100% certain that the feather is for some form of Scrooge clone when we look back at all the other Missing Mystery's that have been stolen. The Ramrod plans to conjure up an alternate version of him or perhaps past self. The Fountain of Youth, not to make them young, but rather, to age the cloned Scrooge to match his other incarnation. Third Eye Diamond to give the resultant clone the knowledge of Scrooge. Harp of Mervana to make sure their clone stays honest and can't betray them (or perhaps to find their inner truth to steal the Sword of Swanstantine). And finally Gene the Genie to make a suitable fiancée for clone-Scrooge to have a child with. They'll then age the 'descendent' and use them to get the Papyrus of Binding.
I like that we got to see an imperfect violet in this episode. She always seems pretty perfect (apart from maybe a bit of social anxiety), so her struggling with the spice was really a humanising moment and the point where I finally properly decided I liked her as a character.
I know it's unlikely, but could F.O.W.L. be trying to resurrect that vampire fellow from the video game? After all, he was summoned using those ancient artifacts.
The artifacts used to summon Dracula Duck were totally different from the ones in the show. A scepter, a medallion, a diamond, a crown, and green cheese are the items in the game. But still, that would be an interesting idea. Maybe they could make a Ducktales special where the McDuck family go off to find those treasures and, much like in the game, Magica and Glomgold can work together to steal them and summon Dracula Duck.
Idk why when i see Steelbeak in that episode, i was hearing THAT song and vibes in my mind from the episode 3. After Steelbeak being defeated by Dewey and Launchpad. You guys know what song i mean.
That butt kicking Huey gave reminded me of that quiet rage scrouge had in Don Rosa's King of Klondyke, when Scrooge beats up Soapy Slick, his gang, pianist, piano and casino boat. Or in Scrooges words in Hearts of Yukon, As Casey Coot assumes Scrooge couldn't lick ten men single handed, and scrooge replies: "Ten? They said Ten? By thunder I licked a Baker's Dozen! And the Baker!"
I think it was great that they had Lena help Huey with his inner strength because wasn't this after the episode where she had her own inner struggles of becoming magica? So it was nice to see her help him in realizing that just because it seems like it's a bad part of you doesn't mean that it is or should be hidden away. It'll be nice for Huey to embrace his more emotional side rather than solely depend on his logic, there is a reason we have a logic and creative/emotional sides to our brains.
I found it odd that Rockerduck refers to himself as the "heir-apparent" of the Rockerduck fortune. Who controls it now? Did he hand it over to someone while he was frozen?
Webby's and Dewie's inner strength is not their friendship, but their getupandgo. Webby is a girl of action, always ready get tough while Dewie just rolls with the situation, dewieing it. Also, the feather is Webby's, it will come back in her character arc, next season, and give some clues, or even reveal, about her parents.
I need concept artwork (fanmade or official) for Huey's mental projection as "The Duke of Making Mess" from this episode (seen in the video at 9:35-9:41) done in the style of Huey from OG Ducktales (1987), Quack Pack (1996), House of Mouse (2001) and Mickey Mouse Shorts (2013).
Probably but Heron is the one holding it up, which implies she grabbed it form him while they were fighting. That's probably why she let herself be "distracted" by Scrooge.
I think the feather will tie into the Papyrus from "The First Adventure". Scrooge made the scroll vanish under the condition that it could only be rediscovered by his heir, and here they're stealing specifically one of his feathers.
I REALLY am disappointed that Boyd hasn't been included into the group of kids. I would've thought Huey and Boyd would have been best friends since Astro BOYD, and that he'd be part of the gang...
I'm curious if FOWL is trying to create Burt McDuck (a one issue only character thats been mostly lost to time, but was the adopted son of Scrooge). The Papyrus wants the true heir of Scrooge McDuck but its unknown how it will translate that. If FOWL made a son for him, then it might trick the Papyrus into revealing itself.
Is it me or could the way that they partnered Louie with Violet and Huey with Lena be set ups for the potential love interests in the future (like what they might’ve already done with Dewey and Webby)? If so, then I hope that they’re saving the hormones for a Valentine’s Day episode this February (plus, I’d hope that such an episode would be an appropriate time and place for the triplets (or anyone in the duck family) to ask their mom Della who their Father is).
Or maybe the reason they couldn't get it is because Gandra probably didn't want it since she betrayed FOWL? I mean, it's less likely but still possible, I guess.
This episode was decent. The Dewie/Webby part was the weakest. Friendship is old hat by now, especially for Webby. The puns were getting painful with so many in such a short time. And the climb got more and more rediculous as it went on. I do like the ending. Your villain needs some wins if you want them taken seriously. And I love the reasoning for why Violet and Lena are there. Love the delivery.
