I use Dawn dish soap, vinegar, a little bleach in a garden pressure washer to wash my four minisplits. Rinse after washing using bottled water. IMPORTANT the drain tank will get clogged and not drain out side at the condensation outlet. Use a wet/dry vacuum and allow it to vacuum the outside drain as you are washing and rinsing the unit. This is separate from the drainage of the plastic catch all he hung and attached to the front of the unit. If you are getting condensation blowing into the room as your unit it cooling , the first thing you should due is to vacuum that outlet outside. A lot of what you just washed will want to drain outside through its internal system. MAKE SURE to vacuum that line every season.
Would you please tell me how you get all the water out after cleaning it on the inside of the house and how you dry it properly? My landlords maintenance guy doesn't have a clue what he's doing. Twice he cleaned it from last year till this year and both times it smelled after he got done He seemed to so better because he watched these videos but why is it smelling again? And he believes he rinsed it well and drained it and even left the fan on to dry it
Thank you! We've had ours for about 9 1/2 yrs and I clean the filters regularly, but it still needs a deep cleaning. I found a cleaning kit on Amazon so now I can clean this and my outside unit also.
Wow! As a renter I will never complete a job as well as this, but it’s awesome to know it can be done! Links for spray coil cleaner and plastic cover that’s keeping everything clean would rock. Thanks Again!!
@@sNksnAke You are correct! The air you breathe is CRUCIAL for your health. These units are notorious for mold and bacteria 🦠! It would be a good rule of thumb to do this type of cleaning every 4 months ( 3X a year ) - I have been sick the last 2 months and doctors couldn’t figure out why ( MOLD ) I’m highly allergic to it and we just found out that we have mold in our mini split unit inside
As a landlord, that would be my job to do that--I would not expect my tenants to perform maintenance on the A/C or appliances (except I DO expect them to clean the lint off the lint trap in the dryer).
Thank you for the video. Very helpful. My question is can I buy that plastic funnel which wraps round the unit on Amazon? How is it referred to technically ? Thhanks again
Great video, thank you. Now I know what's involved, the prices I have been quoted don't sound so bad. I will just ensure all this is included before booking a service. Thank you.
My unit is blowing out warm air I’m Dying. My landlord is a cheap scumbag so I gotta fix this shit myself. Thank you for this video. Any cheap scumbag landlords watching this video, fix your stuff don’t make your high rent paying tenants have to lol
I never could understand why they put music to an educational video, If I want to watch a music video I'll go do that. Otherwise, it is a good video...
I do have a question…what about the small filter inside the filter he took out before washing? Does it get replaced or cleaned? Can one add essential oils to it for cold scenting if it’s clean? If not how does one get a scent that lasts for a couple months into the mini split unit? Above unit? Thanks in advance.
Would this video explain possibly why one indoor unit doesn’t work very well compared to the other indoor units? We have two that blow nice cold air and one that doesn’t.
Doesnt these come with an indoor unit and outdoor unit? The outdoor unit doesn't need to be clean? I thought the outdoor unit would need a clean the most coz it's open to the elements 24/7.
For mini split indoor unit cleaning, we use Nu Calgon Evaporator coil cleaner. (Can says NO RINSE).. but I rinse. For the outdoor unit, we get the jugs of CONDENSER coil cleaner and use spray bottles.
I assume the power is OFF at the breaker but is there any risk to the motor from the spray or the rinse? Are these motors sealed against water? I understand the electronics/controls and that you protected those, but I am concerned about the blower motor.
I've cleaned literally thousands of units here in Aus and never had an issue with the blower motor being damaged -- never cut power to the units either. Motor is out of the way of the water.
Ive tried everything last 6 + Yrs, Blower wheel (Gree) cant be removed. Today i used 2 TBSP laundry soap in a small bathroom type STEAMER, excellent results, thou i have to keep wheel from spinning w/ a long knife or chop stick & do both sides Steamer only holds 350 ml water
Nice video, very informative. But if you are going to do this, you need to balance the sound levels. Difficult to hear the technician, but the cameraman is more loud enough. And if I turn up the volume to hear the tech, your music jumps in and wakes the kids.
would have been more helpful to show how well it worked on the unit with the fins being cleaned - like a before and after - just my 2 cents. also links to items used would be great - thanks
They should take a temperature split before cleaning and then after. To see how much the performances increase. I washed my condenser coil before and the split jumped from 15 degrees to 18 degrees which is impressive.
i have a question my ductless AC unit, the indoor unit when turned on after a few minutes the blower starts to sound like a turboprop plane, any idea what the cause might be. thks
I was hoping you can answer this question, my mini split blows air but only the right side of the coils get cold and collect water moisture and the left side of the coils stay dry and room temperature. What could possibly be causing right side to work but not left. Thank you, any help is much appreciated.
The split in the office is borderline toxic. I thought cleaning the filters was enough but this is a great demo. Should the outside unit be done as well? Pardon my ignorance but is it possible that the outside dust and debris get pulled through the split?
Hell NO !!! Trust me on this! We have a mini split ( Fujitsu unit 2 ton ) and I keep the filters spotless and our unit still just had mold in it. The tech said mini split units are notorious ( breeding grounds ) for mold and bacteria !!
I appreciate the helpful video but the sound level between your worker & music breaks kept waking up my sleeping husband. Either your guys too quiet or yr music is way to loud
I would call your local HVAC professional who has the specialty tools required to actually remove that blower wheel. In the video we did a deep clean without removing the wheel, but it sounds like you will need that wheel removed. Best of luck!
You should have used an air compressor to get all dust and dirt out before wetting it, You dont need the wet chemicals unless theres mold or mildew. Dust and dirt can be blown or brushed out.
My LG mini split only cools when it "jet" mode. And even then, it'll only drop the room temp a couple of degrees. When in any other mode(low, med or high) it does nothing. It's only a year old. And ideas why? Contractors in my area are useless, and take weeks or even months to serve you.. so I am on my own until then.
